  • @newmomtx06 I hope you have a great time visiting family!  How long is the flight?  Just bring lots of new and fun distractions.  :)

@ruby696 DS pleasantly surprised me with how well he did with his flu shot!  I hope your kiddos handle it well.  At least they have a fun reward to look forward to afterwards!

@m6agua You're smarter than me.  I didn't take the Friday before DS's party off from work last week, and his party was Saturday afternoon.  I ran around like a crazy person all morning as a result.

What's going on this week?  DS turned 3 on Monday!  Otherwise, trying to keep things low key this week.  I'm super excited for the Darn Tough factory sock sale followed by an awesome brunch on Saturday with my best mom friend.

How far along are you?  15 weeks today!

    Upcoming appointments?  Nada until 12/12

Cravings/Symptoms?  Nothing really consistent.  I get super random cravings for things I haven't eaten in a long time, like Zebra cakes, ramen noddles (like the cheap packages made of pure salt), and today I randomly got a craving for the butterscotch and chocolate Rice Krispies treats my mom used to make when we were kids.  I think they were called scotcheroos?

Rants/Raves/Randoms?  I'm looking forward to my weekend mom date and then just hibernating with the family out of the cold this weekend.  I can't believe how cold it is so early this year, and I'm kind of terrified of what the rest of the winter might have in store.

  • @shamrocandroll you can’t mention scotcharoos without having them to share with the class. That’s just rude! 😂 we have them at every family party

@newmomtx06 if the flight is long and calm enough, feel free to let DD move around. It’s better than a screaming kid! Also, snacks on snacks on snacks (I hope everyone reads that to the tune of Racks on Racks on Racks)

@ruby696 maybe the flu shot exhaustion will kick in immediately after the party and you can enjoy some hardcore naps?? Wishful thinking? Haha

@m6agua good luck with the doctor tomorrow! Hopefully everything checks out and that things stay level throughout pregnancy.

  • @mokay19 He'll be fine, but he's such a baby about it. He's 5 his 3yo sister takes them like a champ. He'll start crying in the car as soon as he finds out where we're going. Last time, I had to get mad at him because he wouldn't stop screaming after he got it and I was afraid he was scaring the kids in the waiting room. THEN, he legit started limping when we got out of the car. I had to remind him that the shot was in his arm. 🙄 Meanwhile, his little sister is completely over it. It's so exhausting. I'm hoping the party is a good distraction.
  • @splashmountain When I was a kid, my parents used to joke about going on a date to the grocery store and I made fun of them for it, but now I 100% get it.   I hope the nausea calms down soon!!!

  • @newmomtx06 I had all of the heartburn with DD second and third trimester. Mine is kicking in again. Hope you find some relief. Tums still works for me.

@ruby696 Hope you got an US today and that you had a good appointment.

@m6agua Enjoy the three day weekend! I can't imagine managing another condition on top of pregnancy. At least your pregnancy symptoms aren't too much right now.

@shamrocandroll I know I'm weird but I'm loving the cold! Can't wait to be snuggled in a blanket tomorrow morning when I don't have to go to work sipping decaf. A mom date sounds fun! Going anywhere special?

@splashmountain I always think when doctors are slow to call it's because it's not bad news. Hopefully you don't have to wait much longer. Hope your nausea lightens up a little bit soon (even though its reassuring).

What's going on this week? My grades were due yesterday. I really fell behind this quarter due to nausea and fatigue. Hopefully I can be more on top of things now that the symptoms are lessening.

How far along are you? 13+5

    Upcoming appointments? 12/9

Cravings/Symptoms? Nausea is faded and I can function until bedtime (still early at 7). Wednesday I even made it until 8:30 and watched some TV with DH! No super strong cravings. I'm loving frozen berries right now. They heal the heartburn.

Rants/Raves/Randoms? Finally told DD about the news. I think it hasn't really sunk in. But Daniel Tiger will help!

    Questions?
  • Thanks everyone! I’m definitely planning on a lot of distractions and snacks. Snacks are the key to her heart. @shamrocandroll it is about two hours so really not that bad at all. @mokay19 trips up and down the isles are a must.

@ruby696 You had me cracking up at the limping. When DH was younger, he broke his arm and when he got to the airport to go on a trip he saw someone with a broken leg in a airport wheelchair. He started to pretend he broke his leg to get a wheelchair 😂

@splashmountain DH and I had a date at target a few weeks ago. It was the best thing ever! No shame.
  • @ruby696 your theory could be spot on. I keep thinking of it more like when you first start a diet you lose really fast then it slows down as your body adjusts, and the opposite side when you stop your diet and can eat whatever (like carbs because it's the only think that doesn't make you want to barf) you gain really fast and it slows down as your body adjusts. Who knows. I'm hoping it'll slow down a little now that I can eat more foods, but we shall see.

@jrouge12 I never thought of frozen berries for heartburn, definitely worth a try!
  • @jrouge12 We're going to a sock sale for the best socks on the planet. It's a big deal around here. 😂 And then going to brunch after.

  • @shamrocandroll That actually sounds amazing! I love socks! Are they fun novelty socks or super warm?

@splashmountain It just feels so soothing. I also tell myself vanilla ice cream helps. Of course the doctor would say the spicy salsa I'm eating now is definitely not helping but I can't not...
  • @jrouge12 They're Darn Tough socks. They're super comfy, warm socks with a lifetime guarantee. I started buying them for family for Christmas gifts and now they're all hooked, so I go every year. I'm getting up at like 6am to go get in line early. Super serious sock shopping business. 😂

  • @shamrocandroll you should get a job with darn tough. You’re selling these socks all over the place 🤣
  • @kbrown2385 I looked at their job postings today and sadly no engineer jobs. 😂 Also, I'd have to move even further north, and I'm about at my max cold limit here already.
