Re: I hate Ganirelix and Menopur...

  • Agreed - I do them really slow and it helps with the Menopur burn, but still - my belly is just full of knots at those injection sites.  And itchy!

My hubby didn't believe me when I said it was hard to get in. That sucks. It hurt and it's all red and itchy.

I'm a nurse, and have seen plenty of needles. The Ganirelix one is definitely duller than any needle I've ever seen. It's like it almost bounces off your skin. I asked my doctor about it, and she said that she thinks it has to be designed like that to help with the crystalization of the med.

  • I have always injected the Ganirelix into the Menopur vial, so I have never felt the Ganirelix needle.  I guess I should be glad.  ;)

I find after a couple of days in the Ganirelix isn't as bad.  I'm not sure how far in you are, but either way, the worse should be over soon.

As for the dullness, it was like training wheels for Lovenox. Seriously, if you can imagine it, the Lovenox needle is even duller and stings even worse.  It's like they're testing us to see if we're tough enough to handle motherhood!
