  • EDD/W+D: February 3rd / 28 weeks today

    Team:
    Blue 💙

    Baby Size:
    Eggplant

    Upcoming Appts:
Wednesday for a check up and to discuss GD results (fingers crossed we’re clear!)

    Symptoms/Cravings:
no cravings anymore, but definitely starting to get uncomfortable. Also, Im starting to walk super slow, which is a pet peeve of mine. Guess I’ll have to get over it now 😂

    Rants/Raves:
We got a lot done this weekend. Wrote thank you cards for our first shower, organized the nursery some more, updated the weekly baby book I’ve been keeping (I was slacking on it for a while,) made two knot blankets for the baby, meal prepped for the week, caught up on all our shows from when we were on vacation, had the washer fixed, grocery shopped, and more. There’s no doubt about it, I’m nesting! I’m super sore now but it was worth it.

@taylor2020 Yay for nesting! I am so glad you are able to do that. I want to be so badly, but am on the final stretch of my master's capstone so also really want that finished. I keep telling myself that, if I keep at it, after next weekend I will have much more time for nesting.

ETA My compromise has been prewashing the diapers while I write. 😂
  • @mandk1233 I think you’re pretty incredible for managing the end of a masters program right now, especially the capstone. Those end courses are seriously no joke! Meanwhile, I’m just struggling to focus on my work computer for more than 5 minutes at a time 😂 Keep killing it mama!!!
  • @taylor2020 thanks. 😘 I am just so glad I will never have to do this again. There have been so many hormonal meltdowns in the last month over the fact that I am over this paper and just want to nest and rest.
  • @mandk1233 Sending you all the energy and positive vibes to finish strong!!

@taylor2020 I have so much to do before this baby is born that I can't wait until my nesting urges kick in.

    EDD/W+D: 2/5

    Team: Team Blue

    Baby Size: Cabbage

Upcoming Appts: On Thursday I meet with my MFM for an ultrasound and then a GD specialist immediately afterwards.

Symptoms/Cravings: Everything I can't have. Right now it's key lime pie....and ice cream! I cannot wait until this pregnancy is over so I can have dessert again.

Rants/Raves: I just got back from spending 5 days with my in-laws and it was great. My MIL is undergoing cancer treatment so she won't be able to come for xmas like she had planned. So we decided to bring our daughter across country to visit them and they had such a great time. We facetime weekly, but it's really not the same as getting to see them truly interact with her. She also did really well on the 5 hour flights...even though I was soo uncomfortable.

    Questions: None

GTKY- What was the #1 song in your country the day you were born? Lionel Richie, Hello. Wow. I feel so old.
  • EDD/W+D: 2/6/20? 27+4

    Team: Green!

    Baby Size: Lettuce? Really?

Upcoming Appts: Friday for my glucose test and meeting with my midwife Anna!

Symptoms/Cravings: Feeling big! I am 5' with a pretty short torso so I feel like baby is in my ribs and I swear my hips have gotten wider...my butt has at least... haha! Craving absolutely anything sweet/chocolate. I have sworn off sweets for the week before my glucose test and it's been killing me!

Rants/Raves: Rave- I am such a worry wart so I have been staying away from posting on our board, but I have been reading everyone's post and trying to jump back in! I am able to feel baby kick a bit now (anterior placenta) and it makes me feel better! In October I wanted to start posting again then had a little bit of bleeding (it was nothing) and the midwives requested a pre-term labor workup and that scared me pretty good. I just love this baby so much I want everything to be okay!
Rant: I've gained like 40lbs.... wut.

Questions: What are your plans for setting baby up in your bedroom? Is your husband going to sleep with you still? What items are a must have in the room for the first months?

  • @foreveronyourside, how you set up your room for baby totally depends on the size of your room.  For DD we had a very small bedroom (and house) so she slept next to my side of the bed.  We had planned to use the removable bassinet portion of the Pack and Play but she hated it and she ended up in the auto Rock N Play (we aren't using this time around).  Due to size we could never have fit a Pack and Play in our bedroom.  Her room was like 2 steps away from ours so when she woke MOTN we walked into her room for a diaper change and to sit in the glider there for feedings then back to our room.  H and I shared our room still 99.999% of the time.

This time our room is much much larger and as is our house so the idea of walking all the way down the hall to his room for a changing table and glider MOTN is less appealing.  We are planning on putting the Pack and Play in our bedroom.  It has a changing attachment that we may use if we decide we don't want to walk to his room for diaper changes.  Still debating putting the glider in our room.  It would totally fit but H says it's a pain to get in and out of rooms.

We have a guest room that we are keeping as a guest room so that we have the option of one of us going in there if baby is having a rough night so at least one of us can sleep and help take care of DD the next day.

As far as must haves, really just a place for baby to sleep.  Decide where you will do MOTN feeds and diaper changes.  You will probably also want a sound machine in your room if you plan to use one (and I highly suggest you do use one!)  Also, wherever you do diaper changes and feeds you'll want some sort of nightlight or soft lighting so you can see without waking up baby any more than he/she already is.
  • @jvk2012 Thank you so much for sharing! Our house is set up kind of annoying. 2 bedrooms upstairs (one pretty large, one really small) so we have been downstairs in the guest bedroom which is next to the bathroom and kitchen and I plan to stay down here because our stairs are wicked! I was thinking about just doing a pack and play that has the little bassinet and changing things on top of it next to my side of the bed. We don't have any dressers down here or anything so I think I can fit the gliding chair we want in here too. H made a comment once about "being woken up" by me feeding, etc. by having baby in our room and I kind of just gave me that look and he didn't say anything more about it lol.
    Thanks again for your input!!
