Symptoms/Cravings: Anything sweet or salty. I've been caving a lot on the sweets lately; I need to reign it in a bit.
Rants/Raves: I scheduled my hospital tour/birth class last night. My OB wasn't kidding when he said they fill up fast - the earliest class with an open slot was January 4th. Hopefully the baby isn't early...
Questions: Has anyone given birth without the tour and how did it go? EDIT: Thought of another question - my OB gave me a list of pediatricians in the area. What is the process for finding a pediatrician? Do I call them before the baby is born and give them my due date? How does this fit in with insurance? How do you add an unborn baby to insurance?
@noxacanthus, call the pedi and see what the process is. For us, we called after baby was born while still in hospital to set her up as a new patient. We then called insurance to get her added and we needed to provide her birth certificate which took a few weeks. There is usually some leeway for how much time you have to add baby after birth but call to find out the process.
Symptoms/Cravings: Junk food. Getting lots of lower back pain lately

GTKY- What was the #1 song in your country the day you were born? The Pet shop boys West End girls
@noxacanthus I didn’t do a hospital tour and it was fine. I was able to look online and get some basic information about What the hospital had to offer and I wasn’t worried bout it.
@noxacanthus I called a pediatrician that we wanted and they pretty much were like you just write the name down when in the hospital. There are pediatricians that are on-call at our hospital that do rounds. They did have a baby class we could sign up for and we did that. Your baby will be covered under your insurance for a period of time (I think 30 days) for the early appointments. But call insurance within 48 hours to let them know you have given birth.
@daffodil_shoe Hope everything looks great and you're cleared to go back to work!
@noxacanthus - Our Midwife gave us a list of pediatricians too - I am in a lucky/interesting position that I live in the same area I grew up in. I am leaning towards taking the babe to my pediatrician from when I was a kid. I know where the office is and trust the docs (Some are the same as when I went there.) Bonus - They are in the same medical complex as the hospital we are delivering at. I don't know what I would do if I had to cold call pediatricians...
Symptoms/Cravings: some heartburn, so much kicking and thrashing, officially done running- tried Saturday and had so much RLP followed by BH so all done!
Rants/Raves: Starting to feel massive and uncomfortable.
Questions: When is third tri? I feel it coming on for sure...
GTKY- What was the #1 song in your country the day you were born? Glenn Medeiros "Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You" I've never heard of it!
Upcoming Appts: On Wednesday I have my glucose test, an OB appt and a brain ultrasound of Charlotte to check her blood flow
Symptoms/Cravings: Yes. To food. All food. Now plz.
Rants/Raves: My vagina is starting to get sore and it almost feels like the pressure is pushing my vagina down. Ahhh, the glories of *almost* third tri.
@noxacanthus I called various peds in my area and interviewed them. I wanted a group that had separate waiting rooms/exam rooms for sick and well visits, I wanted a group that required on time vaccination except for medical exceptions (they dont accept or write excuses for religious or moral exemptions as they believe in the importance of vaccination), I wanted a group that had good walk-in hours for sick visits and I wanted a ped I liked. I interviewed 4 groups in my town that checked all those boxes and went with the one that I liked the best.
@craftywitch Third tri depends on whether you are talking about gestational vs developmental, but in general most people consider 28 weeks third tri.
Baby Size: each is the size of a banana this week.
Upcoming Appts: I had my abdominal U/S at 19w 5d. Everything looking good. Next apt is Nov 19th for my first OB apt back home. Another anatomical scan and then the OB apt.
Symptoms/Cravings: not much really. Not overly craving anything.
Rants/Raves: my poor belly was sore for 2-3 days after my anatomical scan. It took 1.5hrs and was so much rolling. It felt bruised for days. I'm not looking forward to doing it again. Also my US tech started going on about my triplets being identical or having identical twins and a third. I'm not... I'm having fraternal triplets. She didnt really know but also didnt really want to believe me no matter how insistent I was. This was my 6th scan.
Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone. I think the first step is google and look at reviews to narrow the list down and then call the top 2-3 to see if they're accepting new patients. Also looking up the right phone number to call for our insurance once baby is born.
@craftywitch I tell hubby about once a week, "There are people on the BMB that are still running and here I am out of breath from walking upstairs." You rock for making it this long!
Symptoms/Cravings: Back pain!!! I thought I’d escaped it...
Rants/Raves: We finally got the new custom wardrobe I designed at ikea built in our bedroom, which means our nursery (formerly the master walk-in closet) is ready to start!! Now that I can actually work in the space, I’ve been excitedly measuring, making scale models (well paper and cut-up post it’s to scale so I can figure out what fits/layouts work in the relatively tight space). We picked up a dresser that will double as a changing station and I ordered a machine washable rug, which finally set me on a theme: dinosaurs in space!! I’m so excited!!
Questions: All glider/recliner related. Will be browsing that thread soon.

@daffodil_shoe FX you get back to work soon and DS gets feeling better! And you too, @ACAC25 !
@clee5711@Hoggatteverafter I am so with you on the back pain 😣 And suddenly! Ice and heat has helped me.
@craftywitch I’m with you on the running, I think. I successfully did it a week ago, but I’ve had back pains and achiness abounding this week and suspect my running is over. I’m coming to terms with use of the Elliptical machine 😂
