I just went to see my obgyn they took a urine test and I was negative for all drugs .What will happen if I continue to test negative for all urine test results I'm due in Feb 19,2020

Re: Negative drug test

  • Um isn’t it a good thing to continue to test negative for drugs?

  • Thanks ladys
  • Are you concerned because you are taking drugs?
  • No I was just wondering that's all I know it a good thing just curious
  • Why are they testing you for drugs if you weren't taking any? This isn't part of standard pregnancy bloodwork.

They test urine for protein, but I've never heard of them testing for drugs (at least not without reason)
  • @mandk1233   My OBGYN gave me a drug test at my first appointment saying it was standard practice for them. But I haven't had one since

  • It's a opioid epidemic in Ohio so it a must to test all women thanks
  • @dontoya i think everyone was just concerned with how your worded your first post. It almost sounded like you were worried to have the drug test show negative (even though that is a good thing!)
  • Not worried so much as confused.
  • It makes sense they would test at every appointment. We were just confused with the question.
I know that where I live, they test every newborn for opioids in their system.

  • I live in MI and they drug tested me at my first OB appt. Didnt tell me they were doing it and never discussed the results with me (prob bc it was neg), but I saw the results on MyQuest (my lab site) and the EOB which let me know they did it. I suspect maybe some of you have been tested and just didnt realize?
  • You may be getting tested and dont even know sign up for my chart and look for yourself.

I was drug tested during at least some (more than one) of my urine tests. I had an OOH birth, which is only allowed for low-risk pregnancies. Taking drugs during pregnancy would automatically risk you out of your OOH birth practice, by state law. They informed me up front that they drug tested.
