How are you feeling? Not bad. A lil tired. I had so much back pressure last night though from carving a pumpkin at table height which is not ideal for short me. But it came out adorable.
Questions for STM+? Not that I can think of right now
What holiday are you looking forward to most celebrating with your new baby? Probably halloween and xams LOL
How are you feeling? Overall good. Starting to feel real close
Questions for STM+? How many receiving blankets would you say is enough. I have 20 and was telling my SIL how I think it is way too much. And she tried telling me I should get 15 MORE!? Someone tell me she is wrong/ what you felt was right.
What holiday are you looking forward to most celebrating with your new baby? Secretly hoping he shows up early for Christmas, but not too early. If not, I will have to hold in my excitement for next halloween.
@alicia__e you could totally deliver by Christmas... That's only a week early!
@stashattack I'm not looking forward to having more exhaustion. I already feel tired. I don't need more hah!

How are you feeling? Okay but alternating feeling like I was kicked in the ribs with the baby is going to fall out my vagina there is so much pressure. I can't imagine that at the end it is probably feeling like both simultaneously.
Questions for STM+? How is the recovery from child birth? Like how much can I expect to move around? Will DH mostly have to bring baby to me I'm that sore or is it just tired....I really don't know what to expect!
What holiday are you looking forward to most celebrating with your new baby? Baby's first Christmas sounds so exciting!
@alicia__e - I used about 20 receiving blankets, mostly as spit up cloths. I had one in my nursing chair, two in the diaper bag, two in each car, a few in the living room. They were always in the wash, and I almost never had any in the storage drawer. I would think that 15 more would be excessive, but they are always handy to have.
@biolprof - I think every woman is different in recovery, especially since every woman's delivery experience is different. I had a c-section, and was up standing after about 12 hours. The next day I was able to walk the short distance to the NICU and back. I really struggled getting in and out of bed when I went home, and had to use a stool, but was still able to walk around the house, pick up the baby to change her, etc. At the same time, I did too much too fast and continued to bleed for about 7 weeks PP.
@biolprof just seconding what @marebear15 said. No one recovery is the same & it will dependent on how your birth has went & your own physical & mental state. Both myself & my sister had similar births with prolonged labour ending in emergency sections but we recovered very differently.
I bled until I started the pill again at 6 weeks pp.
@marbear81 and @leprechaunlady thank you for the reality check and @biolprof thanks for the question! You know you hear of the bleeding, but actually hearing it was 6-7 weeks PP is definitely a reality check. My FTM brain is torn between a fantasy delivery and doom on most days lol so it's so great to hear your experiences!
@alicia__E - that seems like a ton of blankets. I usually had like 5-7. I love the Aden and Anias ones - they are kind of stretchy and work the best for swaddling for us. I also had burp cloths that I used for spit up.
@biolprof - I agree that it's probably dependent on the person and the birth. But mostly I was sore but still able to do things. H mostly handed baby to me in the hospital, just because it was difficult for me to pick them up out of the bassinet thing from the bed. But I am short so that might impact that. But once home I could do everything I normally do. Maybe a little slower, but in pregnancy I am slower too so it didn't seem much different. I will say that I probably am the type that does too much for myself, and should accept more help than I have. Even if you can go get the baby, it isn't bad to accept help and rest your body which has just gone through a lot.
@amb0924 - Another note about the PP bleeding. It's not a constant flood for 6 weeks. In fact, I never experienced the flood and never had to use the heavy long pads. This might be because of my c-section (I think they try to remove a lot of that excess stuff?), but it was like a regular period for me for the first week or two, and then just constant light flow/spotting for the next few weeks. Every few days I would go like half a day without anything and then have to put a liner back on.
Oh, and I didn't know this, but do not try to have sex while you are still actively bleeding. It means you still have a wound in your uterus where your placenta attached and could cause an infection. Most people don't want to have sex that soon anyways, but it's worth a mention.
Thanks for all the experiences. I know it's likely different for everyone but nice to have an idea of the range of ability. I had an appendectomy a few years back and it knocked me flat. Way worse than I expected so now I try to have realistic expectations of my body post stress event lol
@alicia__e You can never have to many receiving blankets. They are good for everything!
@biolprof when it comes to recovery it depends on how you have the baby. For the most part you should be okay. You will be tired, walking funny (remember you have been front heavy and got there slowly and all of the sudden a chunk of that weight is gone), bleeding, might have trouble pooping, hormones, etc. I know that all sounds scary but it is normal. I was up and walking about 2 hours after I delivered with a vaginal birth. I will say I was tired and there were times where I needed help, but for the most part could do what I need to do with baby. My only request from my husband was to give me enough time to shower everyday. I feel like breastfeeding was the "harder part". By that I mean I didn't understand that it was a job and how much effort it would take for the first 6 weeks for me. Once we both learned what to do and got a schedule it was much easier.
