Re: PGAL Check-in w/o 10/30
both of their hearts stopped and we won’t be able to find it on Friday at my NST. I’m just ready for them to be here.
Gosh, I don't know! There's so many! I love making pumpkin pie. I take the recipe below and change it up a bit by subbing orange zest for lemon zest, using Saigon cinnamon, and WAY more than suggested, and I soak the crust with fireball whiskey before blind baking it. I also pour a little fireball on the top toward the end of baking, but with still enough time to burn off the alcohol. Serve with homemade whipped cream.
I've found putting the pumpkin into cheesecloth or a strainer for a bit and draining out the excess water makes for a faster bake, and I foil the edges until the last 10m of baking, and since I'm using a DEEP dish pie, I have to increase cooking time. Sometimes, my pie is a little darker, but still tastes fantastic!
Old Fashioned Pumpkin Pie
EDIT - I'm so proud of myself!!! I saw the travel system was marked down about 70 bucks between the stroller and the infant seat and asked SO to transfer the money to the joint account. Then...WE BOUGHT IT!!! I finally bought something big for the baby! I'm a wee bit uncomfortable, because I'm dead set on going 50/50, but he feels better, and I know we needed to do it.
@kbrown2385 - I've been wanting to make a corn chowder. My kids love corn and they recently love soup, so I think it will be a winner. I'll have to give your recipe a try!

We love this butternut squash soup from Emeril.

Congrats on taking a big step on the travel system! After my last appointment I actually feel excited again and didn't even know that was missing 😅 so I'm hoping this helps you feel better. Also who cares about 50/50. I have a PhD and am the bread winner in our house but DH provides so much to the family in other ways. It's nice to feel like it's fair in money but partnership isn't all about fairness 😉 it's about loving and supporting each other in whatever way makes sense in this journey of life! Sorry long post!
@kbrown2385 I love corn chowder! Thanks for the recipe! +1 on the broken vagina/SPD. It sucks and I'm not carrying the extra weight of twins.... I felt awful last night and limped around! I did find sitting on an ice pack to be somewhat helpful.
@MollySm I love butternut squash soup but DH hates it so I never get it lol. I night have to make some just for me!
I'm glad you're getting excited again, and hope you start feeling comfortable enough to nest a little! I didn't know you had a PhD. That is awesome and amazing. DD wants to enroll in a program that lets her get her PhD at the same time as her Masters. I admire the dedication you had for school and love that you're giving back to it. *warm fuzzies*
In other news, the stroller came in yesterday. SO said when he saw the box, momentary panic set in. Until we actually bought something big, it hadn't fully sunk in that we have a baby on the way. I know exactly how he feels!
Graco Click Connect Breaze. I went with this one because it folds into an umbrella stroller, making it small and convenient to carry, as well as store. Graco also tends to be taller than most. And I love the ease of the Click Connect travel systems. I just wish it had SOME kind of color, maybe? *sigh*
Students are something else. I have 6 more weeks. Yesterday we spent 2 hours on the same topic just because everyone was having such a hard time focusing. The thought of candy was just too distracting.
@FyreFlyeRush The pumpkin pie sounds amazing! I never thought of doing orange zest.
1. How many weeks are you? 29 +3
Physically, I am relating to a few of you that have mentioned pelvic pain. I remember this from last time and know it won't get better until after delivery.
The exhaustion is real. I am having a hard time keeping up with my class, especially on outdoor excursion days. I am really not sure what to do...
30 weeks.
I love everyone else's. You've given me some good ideas outside of the usual routine.
In our house we make a lot of miso soup in the fall and curries.
@MollySm How did the glucose test turn out?
@biolprof What a great US tech. I’m glad he gave you a lot of helpful information in addition to the peace of mind.
I love zucchini bread. It brings back so many childhood memories. I need to get my mom’s recipe from her, but the below one looks close. I just omit the walnuts because I hate nuts in bread.
