Thanks so much, @klmcguire! It's back in stock, and I just ordered one! It's the exact model I recently picked out at Target, but it was going for $199 there. Woohoo!
MILITARY MOMS! I don't know is this is happening at your Exchange or not, but it's worth checking. Right now ours is running some amazing deals on baby gear. We went in initially to just price check the Graco 4ever carseat against the Amazon Prime deal. $299 each usually, $239 on Amazon...we got TWO at the Exchange for $174 each!!! So yeah. See if your local one has something like that going on! And it's tax-free, which is even sweeter.
It’s also Macy’s July Black Friday thing - like Christmas in July. I just got 29 pieces(onesies, leggings, a sweater etc.) of clothing for $100. Carters has some cute gender neutral stuff!
@anniemarie887 Other than the outfits with trucks or footballs they can really go either way. If we have another after this and end up with a girl she’d be rocking a boys wardrobe.
@k_mama91@ale9687 thank you! It is cool that it's good for the kid's car riding life, we live in an apartment and have to walk down the stairs, through the back courtyard, then down the alley to our car. I'm thinking I'm better off with the kind you can carry! Although.... it might be easier to carry baby in a wrap or wearable holder to get down the tight apartment stairs and have both hands free....hmmm ..
@bookworm492 Even I’m overwhelmed with all of the car seat and travel system options. Our garage is a walkout so we also have stairs and being so petite I don’t see myself lugging his infant seat in and out. Like @ale9687 said, they switch to the rear facing convertible seat quickly though. I plan to babywear but depending on weather and what we’re doing I think an infant seat would be easier to manage than standing in a parking lot wrapping.
@ktmaesim oooh. It’s like everyone wants to compete with prime day. Haha. The west elm outlet got one over the weekend and apparently some other deranged pregnant woman was also stalking it on their Instagram and beat me to buying it.
Our infant seat went to 35 lbs so could have lasted much longer. But I couldn’t carry the baby in the carrier anymore once the baby hit around 20ish lbs. My husband keeps it in his car for now and we will use it with our second once we get around to changing the configuration to two car seats (it was purchased in 2018). We found it helpful because we could just put bases in several cars and the carrier went with baby and other people could take him (mostly grandparents). But probably had we not been planning a second so close we would have skipped it. We will conceivably get 18-22 months total of use out of it between the two kids.
@bookworm492 so sorry I didn't get notification but it looks like most people answered your question!! Convertible seats stay in the car and are usually rated from newborn (4-6lbs) up to 60-100+ lbs depending on the type of seat. They are really great when you're ready to ditch the infant seat although some people prefer to go straight to them instead of the infant seat.
With my first, we moved him to the convertible seat at around 5 months old. He was a chunk and really hated his infant seat. My second was good in her infant seat until about 11-12 months. She's a little peanut.

I think I might go convertible. We rarely will be driving with the baby. Dr. Appointments we walk to, daycare we can walk to or take a 2 minute drive. We don't have family or friends around that we drive to much. We run errands separately so one person will be on home baby duty while the other takes the car to the store. We have a tight back staircase and I think it'll be cumbersome to carry the infant car seat up and down those 2 flights.
The Navy Exchange is having ANOTHER baby sale. Text OHBABY to 57662 for a coupon for $50 off a purchase of $150 or more on baby gear. DH just went to the NEX--between the coupon and a Visa gift card we got from our shower, we only spent $10 of our own money on a brand new Mamaroo. Deal is through the 22nd, so we're making a strike again tomorrow on other big-ticket items.
Not sure if anyone else is following Krazy Coupon Lady on Facebook but they are constantly highlighting some good deals. Apparently it is Walmart's baby sale month. Lots of really good discounts.
A friend of mine who is a mom recommended baby legwarmers. She said she liked dressing her newborn in a onesie that snaps at the bottom and legwarmers because it was the easiest outfit for diaper changes. Makes sense to me, so I found this website: www.huggalugs.com and they have a buy 1 get 2 free sale, so I got 3 pairs of baby legwarmers, with shipping, for $15👍👍

Aldi also has rugs on sale for $20 for children. They have stuff like maps and alphabet etc printed on them. I got the alphabet one for the baby room.
