Jelly-like discharge?

I'm 19+4 weeks now and started noticing jelly-like discharge last week. It's not an excessive amount but it shows up on the tissue sometimes when I wipe. I didn't think much of it until I googled and saw it could be a sign of pre-term labor. This is my first pregnancy, so I am not sure if this is normal or truly a cause of concern. Anyone experience this? My next OB appointment is Monday, but I may call tomorrow just to check in. Any feedback is appreciated.

  • Also wish I knew you more, but I will say that is normal. Your mucous plug that starts dislodging weeks, days, or hours before labor begins might be described as jelly like but it's also VERY clearly mucous, if that makes sense. I think it never hurts to call your OB, but if you aren't having any cramping or leaking of water, you are probably safe to wait until Monday for them to check.

  • @EmilyLove25 I recall reading that you lose and regrow your mucus plug multiple times throughout your pregnancy. You know, because I too like to talk to random internet strangers about my vag boogers  ;)

  • @stassischroeder Haha I've heard that too. BUT I still stand by when you REALLY lose your mucous plug, ya know it. I mean at least I did... anyone else want to discuss vaginal discharge experiences?

  • @EmilyLove25 Hey I just like saying "vag boogers" LOL. I think I lost my mucus plug when my OB swept my membranes. It was.... gross.

  • Thanks, Emily! I went ahead and contacted my OB. They said it's likely normal without any other symptoms, like bleeding, increased pressure, etc. I appreciate the feedback. :)
  • @kelsbels327 Looks like you joined in July, but haven't taken the time to introduce yourself.

  • I'm simultaneously laughing AND gagging.  Vag boogers!!!

I, for one, am both intrigued and grossed out by the mucus plug.
