Re: October Symptoms

  • @pirateduck @shamrocandroll and @stella_700 Ive used cloth pads for the last 7ish years, if you haven't purchased already, I personally don't care for the fleece or bamboo/charcoal ones because I get extra sweaty with them and I feel they don't breathe as well as other fabrics. I've sewn most of my own, but bought some prior to realizing how easy they are to make.... Party in my pants has cool prints and are mostly flannel for liners they're very breathable. Pink Lemonade has nice Minky fabric ones which are great at not staining, breathable and soft. I have this brand for postpartum bleeding and they worked great.
  • I tried grocery shopping today because I was actually in a town with a Walmart and could get groceries for half the cost we pay in town. I couldn't buy any meat just looking at it made me gag. I bought some frozen dinners with meat for MH and that was hard. I got home and mh says look I made chicken and was so proud of his dish and asked if it was good or delicious and I had to say well I can't do meat again so I'll eat it, but it's not good. I got through maybe a half cup and had to stop.

  • @jhysmath Thanks! Today was my first day wearing them and I can see how they might be warm, but I think they'll work for the winter, anyway. Like a scarf for my hooha. 😂 But I'll save those brand names for future reference! Especially since I had just bought a new menstrual cup right before getting pregnant.

  • I’m right there with you guys on the “nauseous if I’m not eating but nothing ever sounds good”. I’ve not ever struggled with nausea this bad in my previous pregnancies. :/
  • Thank you soooooo much @jhysmath I do not understand why cloth pads and liners are not a more common thing.  (I guess there's more money in advertising and selling disposable products in our throwaway society) I have used my menstrual cup for years and I love it, but sometimes just want a liner.  I didn't even think about post partum fluids, but I think I'll invest in a variety now and then I have them for whenever I want.
  • @jhysmath and @pirateduck Thank you both for this conversation. TMI, but the material on disposable pads is really irritating to me post partum because I have to wear them so long. I am totally looking into cloth ones this time!
  • @ruby696 certain ones are totally irritating.  Going through MC I was instructed to use pads, which I haven't bought in like 20 years, I had no clue what to pick out or how to choose, and tried a variety, and hated them all, but some were certainly more tolerable than others whether it was bunching or chafing or whatever.  They definitely aren't all created equal, whether disposable or reusable.  Plus everyone's body is shaped differently so what I might love and recommend to you might not even work for you at all!
  • @pirateduck I switched to cloth pads when I switched to my menstrual cup. One day it was just like how much waste do I make every year, we had a septic system and I was just thinking about how the reason we need to get it pumped more often is because of tampons (I know I could have put them in the trash, but eew when you have dogs who get into the trash).

@ruby696 my cousins kids get rashes from disposable ones and she didn't know what to do when she had a baby last year. I brought her my postpartum ones and she said it was so much better. I taught her how to sew her own for after the heaviness to have some liners and now have her switched to a cup as well. I like bringing people to the dark side.

These one's are really cool for those who are interested in interesting patterns and don't want to sew your own.

@pirateduck That's certainly true, but anything does that doesn't make me trashy from wet, gross plastic, is already a step above!

@jhysmath I'll check them out, thank you!
  • in addition to the trash i also think of the monthly expense of disposable
  • I can't remember if I mentioned this in the September Symptoms thread last month, but I have had jaw pain (only on my right side - I'm guessing because I sleep more on that side) off and on for the past two weeks. It's killer. I can only open my mouth just slightly more than halfway before I get excruciating pain near my ear.

I looked it up and apparently this is a symptom of pregnancy, and it's related to the loosening of the ligaments throughout the body. There's not much that can be done for it, besides resting it and light massage and eating soft foods that don't require much chewing. Ugh.

  • @yodamama I had that too! It’s gone now, but lasted a couple weeks. I’m getting knee pain now. Not sure if that’s related.
  • When will I learn? Don’t eat a big dinner. Ugh. The indigestion...
  • @smashley09 I'm having wicked bad knee pain, like I don't know how I'm going to do the 2 flights of stairs over and over again today. I assumed it was I did something to it, never thought it could be pregnancy related.
  • My dreams this week are really something. Earlier in the week had a dream that my mom and I went shopping with my sisters (only my mom knows I am pregnant right now), and we made them stop in the baby section but refused to tell them why. Last night had a dream DH took me out for a sushi dinner and I had to remind him I was pregnant and could not eat there. I then ordered a glass of orange juice in a champagne glass. Not sure what my subconscious is going for here.....

  • @heyybritt I had a dream last night that I was half way through a margarita before remembering I was pregnant. Then I got mad at DH for not stopping me.

Nausea almost got the best of me during the last period that I teach today. I'm gonna need a variety of snacks in my bag from now on. The crackers I had suddenly became pure evil to my pregnant self.
  • They've got the air conditioner cranked up here at work today. The service desk I'm working at is freezing, having the highbeams on all afternoon so far isn't helping my boob pain. :s I keep having to run to the bathroom just so I can massage the girls some.
  • Today I bought an apple scented candle to sniff for when the smells are really getting to me.

  • @Austenista I can’t wait to get my pumpkin scented candle!

@jrouge12, did you get mad at DH in the dream or for real? I sometimes get mad at DH from something he did on dream. It’s kind of fun.

My nausea has turned into an all day queasiness. I feel hungover and nothing makes it better, not even eating. I also get lots of acid taste in my mount...
Physically, some back aches and the constant fatigue. Overall happy to be feeling all these!

  • @yodamama I had the jaw thing for a solid 3ish weeks too and it was very annoying. I went to the chiro thinking I was just off but it didn’t help. It is gone now so hopefully yours passes too.

Does anyone else have absolutely no symptoms? I’m 10 weeks today and not tired, not nauseous, no aversions... I’m just missing my period and I think constipated. This is baby #3 and I had loads of symptoms with the first 2 which is driving me bananas this time. I hope this doesn’t come off as braggy because I would truly like something that would create reassurance. I have my first official dr appt on Tuesday but they’ve already said no ultrasounds until 18 weeks and they won’t listen for heartbeat until after 12 weeks. I’m having a hard time believing this is real.

  • Ugh all the smells. Last pregnancy I made mh cook out in the grill all winter so I didn't have to smell dinner. We can't have a grill at our apartment now and I don't know how I'm going to survive. I cooked dinner 3 hours ago and I can still smell it. I even opened the windows even though it was barely 40 degrees today.

Anyone else getting super dizzy? It’s been bad today. Also, been having some RLP which seems early. I’m 8+5.

eta: I have no brain, I’m actually 8+2
  • @rachelg777 I can’t remember, are you taking progesterone? Around 8 weeks is when I think my BP randomly starts dropping and I get super dizzy. My OB said it is changes in blood volume.
  • @mdfarmchick I am and I do get dizzy in the mornings sometimes because of it.. but this is different, it could actually be BP that’s a good point. It almost feels like my blood sugar is low as well.

@rachelg777 yeah the progesterone really messes with me especially like the first 3 hours after I take it. The nurse advised me that because progesterone has peaks and valleys I may feel it again a little later too. But if you feel like your blood sugar may be low, I’m guessing the BP drops are possibly getting you. My BP drops randomly throughout my pregnancy to like 69/57 and freaks me out. My OB recommended downing water every time I felt it happening and to quickly get some salt in me. ((Edit for tag))
  • @mdfarmchich both good ideas! I’ll have to find my bp cuff. It’s definitely not a good feeling.
  • I was at the store today and had to leave because I got dizzy. It was a weird feeling. I’m hoping it’s an ok sign. I have my 10 week appointment on Wednesday so I’m adding it to the list of questions!
  • @queenklau Hahah! Not this time.  I have definitely blamed/gotten mad at dream DH in the past though. I sympathize with you on the all day nausea. It was like this for DD. I never actually threw up but felt sick until the 2nd trimester.
  • I am glad I'm not the only one with such bad nausea! I've lost 7 pounds this past week and a half!
  • @rachelg777 I’ve been having moments where I get very dizzy and have to hold onto something. This never happened to me before so I didn’t really attribute it to the pregnancy until I consulted Dr. Google haha
  • Oh. My. God. I was so so so so sick last night.  It was the worst I've ever felt aside from having the flu.  My poor H picked up so much slack last night.  I got 3 loads of laundry put away and then had to run to the bathroom to be sick, and was just flat out for the rest of the night.  I ate 4 slices of baguette for dinner, and couldn't handle anything else.  I guess I'm going to have to front load my calories for the day, because evenings are proving to be the worst for me.  Which, is the opposite of how I normally eat.  I'll gladly feel this way if it means a healthy pregnancy, but ugh.  It is no fun at all.

  • Woke up with a headache and Tylenol isn’t really helping. I think it’s from not drinking enough water, I’m struggling to drink enough. Before this pregnancy I was taking ADHD meds which made me super thirsty and I drank tons of water, now I’m just not very thirsty.
  • Does anyone else get excited when their symptom shows up in “your body this week”?

I know that every pregnancy is different and most of the times my symptoms are pretty mild. No major morning sickness or breast tenderness. Today, I looked at myself in the mirror before my shower and man were my veins visible. Right on track for Week 10. It’s very reassuring!

    @sbishop426
I’m right there with you with the headache and the water. In the first couple weeks, a i was drinking water all day no problem. Lately, my morning sickness has kicked up several notches and I have no appetite for anything, including water. I have a soda stream at home and I’m drinking water that way. I’m thinking of trying Gaterade at work to get more fluids in.

  • @shamrocandroll ugh I am so sorry! I feel the same way—more sick at night and carbs makes it better. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Hope you are better today.
  • @shamrocandroll I’ve had “evening sickness” as well which is what I call it. Basically right when I get home from work until I fall asleep and then again around 3am I feel sick again. Thankfully I have not vomited but 2 more weeks to go in this trimester so I’m not counting anything out. I hope you’re in the homestretch with this trimester too!

@shamrocandroll omg yes! The discharge is unreal and I also don’t remember it being like this before. I go thru sooooo many liners and when I wipe 🤢🤢🤢.

9w1 So sick which I knew was going to happen. I’ve had 2 HG pregnancies so I expected the same. I’ve lost 10 pounds and I’m not overweight so it shows. And the spit is out of control, I’m walking around with a spit cup and I have to sleep with one of my daughter waterproof blankies on my pillow or I’ll wake up in a swamp.  Everything smells terrible, nothing tastes good so it’s been really hard to eat. I’m probably going to switch OBs already because when I called my doctor for a prescription, the lady told me I would have to go to urgent care to get one 🙄. That’s strike two for them.

No bloat, boobs don’t hurt, sleep isn’t too bad, no cravings. It’s really amazing how pregnancy is so different person to person. I am low key jealous of you non nauseated ladies.
I'm with you on the HG train, unfortunately.  Zofran pump and home care for fluids starts next week.  Here's hoping we get some relief soon!!

I have HG, so a lot of symptoms are exclusively due to that.  I'll spare details of all that.

Other normal pregnancy symptoms I have are sore/swollen breasts and weepiness.

  • 9 weeks today - nausea in the mornings seems to be a little worse and food aversions are stronger.  Nothing is sounding good to eat anymore :(

I'm also still itchy.  It's mostly on the underside of my arms and inside of my thighs.  And the right side is way worse than the left which is strange.  There's a rash or marks from itching and I often scratch them until they bleed.  Very curious what this is since last pregnancy it didn't start until third trimester.  I may have to make a trip to the dermatologist since the OB was baffled with DD.  It's definitely hormone related though because I had it with DD and it went away a couple weeks after delivery and then would flare up slightly just before my period and now its back again.
  • Lots of anger and annoyance towards DH started recently....

Then I feel bad because he's generally been so nice and helpful.
