Upcoming Appointments: 10/24 for OB, 10/25 for MFM
How are you feeling? Good, I love all the movements. Wish I didn’t feel full so fast.
Raves/Rants: Rave: we went pumpkin picking this weekend and DD loved it. Rant: waiting for MFM appt feels like it’s taking forever.
Questions:
GTKY: If you could go back in time and change one decision about your life, what would it be? I am a big believer in the choices you make and the experiences you have turn you into the person you are today. There is no one thing I would change. Maybe some of the risky things I did in college even though they turned out to be fine.
How are you feeling? Feeling good but my back hurtssssss
Raves/Rants: Rave: I got all of DS’ birthday presents wrapped this weekend. We also had a great family weekend since DH didn’t work so much!
Rant: my back hurts so much. I’m sure having a toddler this go round doesn’t help but the snoogle doesn’t seem to be doing anything anymore. I can’t get comfortable.
Questions: Any back pain relief ideas?
GTKY: If you could go back in time and change one decision about your life, what would it be? This is a hard question. I don’t know that I would change anything. Sometimes I wish I had not transferred colleges but then I may not have ended up with DH soooo who knows.
Me:33 DH: 34 Married: May 2011 TTC #1: May 2015 DS: 10/20/2016 TTC #2: June 2019 #2 EDD: 2/20/2020
How are you feeling?: Starting to feel full very easily even though my brain thinks we can still eat! Lower back has been sore the last couple days, RLP and feeling things stretching, having to be very slow rolling over in bed. Still waiting for my magical second trimester symptoms to kick in. Energy? Sex drive? Any time now guys...
Raves/Rants: Rave is that I have two days off this week! I managed to be somewhat productive this morning too. Rant is that I still need to muster the energy to do our registry (shower invites going out next week and we have two things on there, oops) and start brainstorming the nursery.
GTKY: If you could go back in time and change one decision about your life, what would it be? There are a couple of things that I might do differently given the do-over but there hasn't been anything I really regret fortunately.
Team: Not finding out and my willpower is getting weak as I'm adding stuff to my registry...
Baby is the size of a(n): Banana/Paper airplane
Upcoming Appointments: AS 10/17 (aka not soon enough)!!
How are you feeling? Still nauseous... Zofran is finally starting to help! Also seconding the thoughts of being full after like 2 bites.
Raves/Rants: Rave is that I'm finally taking some "me time" this week and getting my hair done! Rant is trying to figure out registry items and a stroller that will work with a gifted carseat... aka a trip to buybuybaby to find a lightweight frame stroller for the CityGo Carseat
GTKY: If you could go back in time and change one decision about your life, what would it be? Also seconding on weight loss. I lost a ton of weight a few years ago and put it all back on... here's hoping post-baby me can try to do it all again AND keep it off
Baby is the size of a(n): Baby's foot is the size of a paperclip.
Upcoming Appointments: 10/30 with my OB for my 24 week appointment.
How are you feeling? Pretty great! Had a few hours this afternoon where I had a minor heart palpitation every 15 minutes or so. Was a little freaked but read it's not uncommon in pregnancy. Also feeling totally normal now.
Raves/Rants: Rant -- still not feeling movement thanks to my anterior placenta. Coupled with my retroverted uterus and tiny bump, I don't really feel pregnant. Rave -- my MIL has been buying all sorts of secondhand furniture for the nursery, and FIL is delivering it all tomorrow. Getting the nursery set up should make this pregnancy feel more real!
Questions: none
GTKY: If you could go back in time and change one decision about your life, what would it be? I wish I had lived abroad for a few years in my 20s, before life tied me down. Experiencing day-to-day life somewhere is totally different than being a tourist for a short span of time. I wish I had experienced that in France, Italy, or Spain.
Baby is the size of a(n): Baby bok choy. Also according to the Bump it weighs as much as a can of soda and it's foot is the size of a paper clip
Upcoming Appointments: end of the month
How are you feeling? I'm tired. Yesterday I spent all day painting the nursery. DH was like oh how can I repay you in his sexy time voice and I said by letting me sleep LOL
Raves/Rants: Rant - someone came racing up the wrong way in the parking garage and parked next to me. She held the door for me (which was surprising) and I was like, you know that's a one way street right? She said yea, I know. I did not even know what to say but was very offended. She was wearing washed out tapered jeans and 70s fluffy bang hair so I did not take her too seriously but then she rode up in the elevator to one of my company's floors, so that annoyed me.
Rave: I kicked butt with painting the nursery yesterday and never fell off the ladder or anything haha. Also the whole family piled on me this morning and said good morning to the baby it was very sweet.
Questions: -n/a-
GTKY: If you could go back in time and change one decision about your life, what would it be? I always said it would be to not drop out of UCSC but then I wouldn't have met my husband and had my daughter so now I say NOTHING.
@malloryfrommn I have had heart palpitations too. They can be really alarming. I also had them with my last pregnancy, and a few weeks postpartum until things started to normalize. Just wanted to share in case yours continue a bit postpartum to hopefully alleviate any worry that they are usually normal.
@therealbitts thanks so much for relaying your experiences with heart palpitations! Super helpful to know they can be normal, and even continue into the postpartum period. You are right - they are alarming!
How are you feeling? Besides back and hip pain, I feel pretty good.
Raves/Rants: I took this self-portrait of my daughter and I last night. It’s the first pregnancy picture I’ve taken of myself this time around. I was really proud of it.
Questions:
GTKY: If you could go back in time and change one decision about your life, what would it be? I have severe PCOS, and back between 2010-2012, I went from 235 lbs to 160. By 2015, I was 210 lbs, but lost a bunch and was back to 180 by 2018. I went back up and weighed 205 at the beginning of this pregnancy. I’m tall and carry it fairly well. However, I just wish I had worked harder to maintain my weight.
Upcoming Appointments: 11/6 with OB and then 11/8 to get better heart pictures.
How are you feeling? Ok! Hip pain is killer.
Raves/Rants: We had our anatomy scan today! Baby was super active which was good. It also made it so that they had to poke and prod to get the pictures they needed. They couldn't get a clear enough one of the heart so I have to go back in 4 weeks. But they got gender so yay!
GTKY: If you could go back in time and change one decision about your life, what would it be? I'd travel more when I was younger. So much harder to do now!
Anatomy scan today. Apparently US tech suspected possible club foot in baby girl’s right foot (but had a lot of trouble imaging it as they were both kicking around like crazy). Dr came in after, also took a look with the probe too and said he didn’t think it looked clubbed. I have a follow up in 3ish weeks anyway and they’ll recheck then but ugh! I’m going to keep telling myself the doctor thought it looked fine and the tech had trouble getting a good picture.
@Swiftlet, sorry you have to have a repeat ultrasound and baby girl may have a medical condition. I also need a repeat US for some concerns they have and the wait is excruciating. Try to remember, you have every right to feel how you feel about this possible diagnosis but baby can have a perfectly happy and healthy life if that diagnosis is true.
@Swiftlet I’m so sorry. That’s super stressful. I would definitely keep reminding yourself that the doc thought it looked fine and that things are probably ok. Babies move so much during that AS. Almost every AS I have had has required some type of follow up since the baby was moving a lot and the tech couldn’t get a good shot.
@jvk2012 thanks it is definitely a treatable thing and I know things could be far worse so I’m choosing to stay positive. You’re right though- three weeks seems like a long time when you’re worried!
@therealbitts thank you! They were both very wiggly, haha. My regular OB who I saw later this AM (offices in the same parking lot so I go back to back) took a quick look and said he thought it looked fine too so I’m choosing to focus on that to get me through
How are you feeling? lucky to be feeling happy and healthy.
Raves/Rants: Rave- these baby kicks! Omg. We've been feeling them since around 16 weeks but they don't get old! I know that sounds early (our midwife was surprised too) but it's true! She's doing that "tap-back" thing and it's super amazing.
Rant- I'm soooo tired of second-guessing food all the time, and being anxious that fruits and veg aren't washed enough or meat isn't cooked enough. I know the chances of infection from food are pretty darn slim, but it's always in the back of my mind!
GTKY: If you could go back in time and change one decision about your life, what would it be? I think I would love to go back and instead adjust my *reaction* to things that happened, or go back to give myself advice or say not to care so much. But I can't think of anything that I had control over that I would change.
@Swiftlet oh man, I am so sorry that you have this big worry hanging over you! It's reassuring that your doctor wasn't of the opinion that something was amiss. Waiting another 3 weeks for extra confirmation will be tough. Hang in there! ❤
@Swiftlet ugh I’m sorry you have to wait for another look. But I had a friend with twins and one has club foot concern and it ended up that all 4 feet were fine! Sending you patience and good vibes

@Swiftlet I’m sure the wait is so anxiety inducing but try to just focus on what your doc said thinking of you!
@mamasbloom I have the exact same anxiety about food cleanliness when I’m out and about! At home I know I’m washing everything enough but I always have a hard time out because I feel like restaurant employees may not be as good about thoroughly washing food. I know the chances are slim but it just gives me anxiety.
Baby is the size of a(n): endive this week and today baby’s palm is the size of a dime! Aww
Upcoming Appointments: repeat AS tomorrow to try to get a better pic of baby’s kidneys
How are you feeling? Pretty good except back pain! Argh. Very excited to now have a bump:)
Raves/Rants: although I’m happy about having a bump, I’m realizing I can’t fit into as many of my old clothes anymore and I haven’t yet fully built out my maternity wardrobe. Also still feeling moody so I had a mini meltdown this morning while trying to get dressed for work.
Questions: does everyone have a linea nigra yet? I don’t have one yet and since this is my first one, I’m not sure what’s typical?
GTKY: If you could go back in time and change one decision about your life, what would it be? Totally on the same page as @malloryfrommn - I wish I had studied abroad or found a company where I could work abroad... that would be a lot more difficult now with the baby!
@nhh11 mine is returning. With DS it started appearing around week 17, it was brown, and it took over two years to go away fully. Now it’s returning with this babe and it almost looks blue. It’s bizarre. But obviously not everyone gets it. And of course it’s not a big deal if you get it or not.
@nhh11 I first noticed the linea nigra forming around week 16. It's still super light - just a shade or two darker than my normal skin tone. I'm a FTM so I don't know what's typical.
