@Tulips29 my OB is having me skip the 1 hour test and go straight to the 3 hour - got it thought insurance because my mother had GD. Fx your 3 hour goes smoothly
There are quite a few STM TTM and even 4thTMs on the March board and the product spotlight threads might give you a few more ideas of what to add (and what not)
@sincethelastday good luck tomorrow - hope you get to see baby!
First movements for me were quite early but only just after DH sent his very deep voice vibrating into my belly when we were laying quiet in bed at night. And it felt like a stomach gurgle, but without the gurgle and not in the stomach but instead just above my pubic hairline (and just to the left as my uterus was on that side to start with).
In the last two weeks there were different feelings which last scan and today I could feel again during the ultrasound so I now know they are girl using my bladder as a punchbag and my stomach as a football. Also when she really moved her head a lot (my OB was poking her to get her to change position - unsuccessfully) I could feel that down near my pelvis too.
I would suggest you try laying down very quietly for half an hour but before drink something sugary (my ob also suggested this today!!!) and then just see. It depends where your placenta is laying and how the baby is positioned.

@Tulips29 I struggled making a registry. It’s been 9 years and aside from a crib we have nothing. However, I know how much useless gear I had last time so I only asked for the bare minimum this go around. I have a feeling I’ll be returning things we get. I did not ask for bottle or wipe warmers, diaper genie, baby towels and wash cloths, or a traditional baby tub. I did register for basics like socks, short and long sleeved onesies for layering, and swaddle wraps.
@emmasemm That’s great news about your placenta, I hope it continues moving!
Also, weird that when I posted I didn’t see the first three posts, so catching up with everyone’s updates...
@Tulips29 - good luck with the glucose test tomorrow! Hope it comes back with successful results! Hope you start feeling less exhausted and less panicky about having two children. Do you have any friends or family who would be good to talk to about going from one to two? Hope you find some helpful support in that area. And love your idea about meeting ancestors! I don’t know too much about my own family tree, so it would be really interested to meet great-great-great, etc relatives.
@k_mama91 - ugh, sorry about the infections!! 🙁 Really hope you start feeling better soon so you can enjoy your shower on Saturday. Are you having a big or small shower, themed, etc?
@emmasemm - that’s awesome that you had such a long US so you could really have a lot of time seeing baby! Although, too bad she was a bit camera shy ☺️. Also good news about your placenta moving - hope it continues to move in the right direction.
Happy Monday! As the list below gets longer please let me know if I’m missing anyone! Pregnancy brain is real
@k_mama91 I agree with you on returning a bunch of stuff. We returned so much after our son was born and we found some items really useless. I feel like now I'd much rather take amazon gift cards over actual items. Even with clothes, I registered for cute outfits and little baby pants for my son. Realized that was a mistake and now I'll take all the easy footed onesies (no buttons!) for less hassle during frequent diaper changes.
@sincethelastday funny (or not funny) enough, most of my friends have 1+ kids and everyone just says it'll be chaotic and crazy but all so worth it in the end lol. I mean, I get it, 2 or more kids are not easy to handle. But I figure plenty of other people get through it all somehow, so we'll be ok in the end. When DS was born, I thought those sleepless nights of him crying for hours would never end and we'll be in zombie mode forever. Eventually that all went away too. So I keep telling myself that when times get tough, just repeat over and over that this too shall pass.
@LauraJon2015 good luck with the appointment on Friday!

@k_mama91 I’m so sorry you’re sick! I was just lamenting the cold I have, but a sore throat is nothing compared to a sinus and ear infection! Did they tell you it’s ok to take Sudafed? It is....but sometimes doctors tell pregnant women to avoid all meds except Tylenol, which is lazy.
@Tulips29 the only “new” item I’ve been debating is a double stroller vs a wagon.....I feel like a wagon will make more sense, but then I’m overwhelmed with the options out there and they are SO expensive! I try to buy all our kid stuff second hand off FB marketplace, that way if we don’t really use it I didn’t spend a lot and I can just repost it for sale haha.
@sincethelastday my early kicks have felt like gas moving, but just slightly different. It’s hard to explain, but I definitely knew it wasn’t gas, even though it was similar. It’s also a lot lower in my pelvis than gas would be. Everyone seems to feel it differently and at very different times though. My friend is pregnant for the second time and only just started feeling small flutters at 19 weeks, which is much later than with her first.
@emmasemm glad to hear your placenta is moving! I had the same issue with my first and the specialist said that unless the placenta was centered over the cervix at the early scan that it almost always moves enough by 32 weeks for vaginal delivery (it was well out of the way for me by 32 weeks). I had complete placenta previa at my anatomy scan a few weeks ago and they said the same thing - they’re sure it will move by delivery. For constipation I used colace, its super mild and won’t give you cramping or gas like Metamucil or Miralax. You’ll want it after delivery too....the postpartum poops are terrifying!

May 2019 IVF #2: BFP! (beta#1 346, beta#2 646) - vanishing twin at 8 weeks. Baby B still going strong - due 2/8/20!
@poemasque my placenta was exactly centred over my cervix still 2 weeks ago - so we were all shocked by how much it had moved already yesterday. I also read in my OB textbook that “moving” is not really what it does as such but seems to be more inaccurate early angles from early scans. Especially if it moves with no bleeding. I’ve just moved on to worrying about placenta accreta- because I have to have *something* to worry about lol!
But talking about worrying about something awful happening - I already have nightmares about my husband and future daughter in a car crash, her falling down our tiled stairs, her falling off our terrace, getting hit by a car on her bike... And since I was 6 years old I had a recurring nightmare about thieves breaking into the home, family members disturbing them and them killing everyone they could find... I’m not saying this is normal, but the doctor I saw as a child said as long as I was not restricted in what I did every day then they saw no issue with my nightmares or my strong concerns for safety... Short - some degree of concern has to be normal!

@Tulips29 Literally just told someone that the outfits with pants and tops were a waste until after 3 months. I stocked up on gowns this time and he’ll be living in those the first month or so.
@emmasemm OMG the thoughts of car crashes drive me crazy! I used to have them all the time too before our son was born, and then they stopped. A few months ago we got rear-ended on the highway and our son got so freaked out he immediately started hysterically crying when the impact happened. Luckily no one was hurt, but since then I swear I have mini panic attacks when we drive and have to suddenly break or someone stops short in front of us. It gives me so much anxiety and now I'm worried this feeling will never go away.

As far as movements, the first time I "felt" something was just that my belly felt 'off' and I could feel gurgles where there shouldn't be gurgles. It took a couple weeks to progress into noticeable movements and several more weeks before I was getting definite kicks to the gut. I had an anterior placenta which muffled alot but you'll get used to your baby's pattern. Usually they like to be the most active just when you're ready to lay down XD
@Tulips29
I also had crazy nightmares as a child of my house getting broken into or catching on fire while we slept -- I used to go down and check the burners to make sure they were off. As an adult, I was diagnosed with mild OCD (mostly obsessive thoughts that devolve into anxiety) and I've been pretty good as long as I take my medicine. My little one is starting preschool next week and I'm absolutely petrified that they won't watch her well enough or she'll suffocate while she's sleeping on her cot or something. It's irrational, but I recognize it's just part of my heightened concern about everything. As long as you can still carry on regular activities, it should be fine. Mine only became a problem when my fears got to the point where I was doing things like being late to work to check all of the doors before leaving or driving 1 hr to work on my day off to make sure I moved a paper off my desk so the cleaning people didn't accidentally discard it. All irrational. One mantra I've learned is, "I've worried about this before; everything was fine then and everything will be fine now."
Can I answer the extra question? From a distance, I would love to meet King Henry VIII just to see the legendary monarch. But I would love to have dinner with Proust or Jane Austen!

"When all is lost then all is found."
@Tulips29 - you mention about your firstborn crying at night and you thinking that stage would never end, but every stage passes. As a first time soon-to-be-mom, I found this very helpful to hear. I mean, I know a child won’t cry every single night for the rest of their life, but I can’t help but be worried about how DH and I will handle having a baby and all the changes that come with it. Like, are we really prepared for this or can you never really be prepared totally? But just the reminder that those stages when it’s rough being a parent will pass was a great reminder for me to hear!
@mbradfo2 - I love your mantra to quell worries!! As someone who has been a huge worrier all my life and whose anxiety seems to have only gotten worse over the years, any mantra like that I find very helpful! Thanks!
And thank you to everyone who has provided me with some ideas on what first kicks may feel like! I think I started feeling some a couple of days ago because they definitely don’t feel like anything I’ve experienced before. I’m so grateful to have this group of women to ask questions and hopefully provide some support to as well! I guess that’s my sort of cheesy Thanksgiving toast to you all ☺️💛
