Oh heck yes to this. FYI mine is full of triggers so I'll put it all in a spoiler. TW

I had my girls' dinner on Sunday, Single Bestie (SB) is the only one who knows I'm starting IF testing, etc. and she promised to help divert the conversation from exclusively children. Well, she failed miserably. At one point she was even the direct cause of it. I shot her A Look and she immediately was like "Ooh guess what, it's only 12 weekends until Christmas!!" but seriously the damage was done. I got to hear all about a friend's infant's medical problems, prenatal genetic testing and what it does and doesn't cover (and as a bonus "if everything was tested then no one would ever get pregnant!") another woman's swollen pregnant ankles, and just all sorts of other kid stuff. I came home having cried in the car, and MH and I have agreed that since they want to do this again before the holidays I'll plan to go then come down with a cold and be unable to attend. I can't put myself through it again right now. I sit there and smile and nod throughout the entire meal, I have nothing to contribute to the conversation, I'm literally just sitting there as a vessel for them to tell me about their kids.

Thank you @chaos-and-coffee @saladflambe Maybe the hardest part for me is that the other 2 suspect I'm having IF problems, but it's like they can't stop themselves, LOs are their only topic.

It's a tough position to be in when you don't want people to know about the struggle but we get upset when people talk about that subject.

@b_1029 I just LOL'ed at your son's day comment! Totally not a real thing. Like we aren't already bombarded with LO posts 24/7. Because, you know, if you DON'T flood social media with pictures and humble brag posts, you're a terrible parent.

@mvt2003 @bows22 I’m mostly just sulking/feeling sorry for myself because they’re all like “happy daughters day to the girl who made me a mom” and I’m wondering if I’ll ever have that. And agreed, any national pet day thing is fine (although made up also...but who doesn’t love seeing pictures of animals haha) but the whole daughter/son is out of control.

Also @mvt2003 I’m really sorry about your dinner. It sucks when people can’t talk about anything but their kids whether they know you’re trying/going through IF or not. Don’t you have any other interests?!!!!

@emeraldduchess are you even a real parent if you don’t flood your social media with pictures? Kind of like my cousin who complains about mom life but her entire Instagram is pictures of her kid. On the flip side, there’s a couple at our gym who went through IF and had their baby through IVF and they’ve MAYBE posted 3 pictures since he was born over a month ago.

@b_1029 yes, I hate the stupid made up holidays! I have cut back to getting on FB to about once a week because I can’t handle all the triggers...and the son/daughter days make it so much worse! Totally...if it’s not on FB, it isn’t real or didn’t happen! 😂 I hardly ever post on social media, and DH and I have joked that people probably think we have a bad marriage because we rarely post pictures of us on FB! Oh well, we know we are happy and that’s all that matters!

@bluetickgal I have a theory - the people that post on FB all the time are usually miserable, and the people that post lovey dovey stuff all the time on FB are overcompensating. I can usually pick out which couples are having marital issues by their posts, if they're posting constantly that's a big tell, extra points if they're posting themselves doing lots of separate things.

Some of the made-up days I can get behind, like "National Margarita Day", "National Ice Cream Day", "Talk Like a Pirate Day" and "National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day".

I hate the holiday commercials that make it seem like unless your H buys you jewelry, he doesn't love you. And that stupid Lexus commercial where the car has a big bow.

The driver who was honking their horn behind me. 😑

The off ramp I use has 2 right turn lanes. I have to use the left-most right turn lane so I can get into the left turn lane at the next light just up the street. Now, there are no signs that say "No right turn on red from left lane" so I typically will turn right when it's clear, but every so often someone stays at the light until we get the green light. Which is what happened today. I wasn't late to work or anything, but clearly the guy behind me honking his horn 2-3 times was. I couldn't move obviously and it was pretty clear that the 1 guy in front of me wasn't going to go.

And then, the left arrow was green as I was driving up to the left turn lane but by the time I got in the turn lane it was turning yellow so I had to sit through the light. I chuckled because the horn honker was also turning left and had to wait some more.

@emeraldduchess Seconded about the "hallmark holidays" that get pressure for large purchases. Also, did you know those bows cost $$$??!! I mean, it makes sense, but I was stunned when a friend of a friend told me how much just the bow costs (she used to work at a florist who made them).

Lol @mvt2003 I’m sure I’d be surprised at how much a big bow would cost, but I guess if you’re buying a Lexus as a surprise for your spouse and don’t need to discuss that kind of expenditure, the cost of the bow doesn’t register. Who is doing that??

@begging4abump I agree about the bow. Spending an extra few hundred on a bow is probably nothing if you're buying a Lexus as a gift!
@mvt2003 also, is it just me or is the jewelry they're always pushing in the Kay commercials kind of ugly? SNL did a whole fake commercial skewering the Pandora charm bracelets a few years ago, it was hilarious! (I actually have a Pandora bracelet, which made it even funnier) I'm pretty sure they did one making fun of the car bows, too.

@emeraldduchess Oh totally!! True story - I totally bagged on Pandora bracelets to MH years ago telling him they were for older women who had grandkids, then Disney charms came out and now I am the proud owner of a Pandora bracelet.

@mvt2003 lol 😆 I also have a Pandora Bracelet that my DH bought for me as a gift years ago. I actually own the exclusive Disney Bracelet that you could only get inside Disneyland from when they had their 60th celebration and majority of my charms are all Disney haha. I buy a new one everytime we go to Disneyland..... Oh S&*$! 😳😳 I just realized that looking at my bracelet now that one of my Disney charms have fallen off that I just got in April noooooooo 😢😢😢😢 wtf?? Omg I’m sooo sad. Why does this keep happening. This has happened more times then I’d like to admit and it’s pissing me off. 💔 I don’t get it. Awww, I really liked that Mickey charm. 😭😭 I got it on our honeymoon at Disneyland right after we got married in Las Vegas. So much for that.

@emeraldduchess and @mvt2003 so I actually used to work for Kay Jewelers a couple years ago as a side second job. We used to talk about how ugly the new pieces we had to try and promote were all the time. I to this day still can't unsee the open heart collection as two butts. 😂

@gingermama29 Omg so true!!!! For my first job, I was an admin with another woman. I was all of 22 and young and dumb, but she was older and had teenage kids and was divorced. She had a guy she dated who was kind of a jerk (stereotypical 50-something divorced guy who was never going to get married again and only wanted to see her on his terms), and he gave her the open hearts necklace one Christmas and she wore it every day. Even as young and silly as I was, I knew that was not a good sign haha! (She later dropped his jerk face and found a way better guy and married him, so happy ending!)
