I feel like I’m not going to have a big enough bump to showcase by Halloween (FTM 13w1d today) so I’m hesitant to even think of a preggo theme couples costume. What do ya’ll think???
Idk if DH and I will dress up. Probably not bc DH always says he doesn’t want to and that I can if I want but then feels left out if I decide on a costume so I end up not doing anything.
DS is going to be Gigantosaurus from the book by Johnny Duddle (highly recommend this book) and the Disney TV show. So far I’ve always made his costumes and he’s been book characters so I’m sticking with it this year though I may abandon next year with 2 kids bc it’s a lot of work. His first year he was Frodo from LoTR, second year he was the Little Blue Truck (also recommend the Little Blue Truck books for toddlers, they are amazing!) I’ll see if I can dig up some pics later!

DD is going to be hermione. DS is going to be a very round shark.
H and I have an adult karaoke Halloween party to go to and I think we might be a 50s housewife and the milkman. I saw it on Pinterest a few years ago and LOL’d at it. Super silly and totally easy to do! I’ll be almost 22 weeks but then so my bump will definitely be big enough to showcase in a cute 50’s dress. I love dressing up so I like to go all-out for Halloween!
@mrsc918 I was showing only a little last time by 20 wks (what u’ll be by Halloween). I put a pic in spoiler (I think my bump was on the small-ish end bc I have a retroverted uterus—I mostly look bloated). Most people in my last BMB did have a noticeable, cute, defined bump by 20 wks. But I know extremely fit women do not show for a long time (like 25+ weeks) so if you are very fit (strong ab muscles), you might not show at all by Halloween.
So mostly I’m not a big Halloween person. I like the time of year but I’m just not one for dressing up. However I love watching how excited DD gets over dressing up. This year she is going as Owlette (from the PJ Masks, tv show on Disney). She has been planning this costume for 6 months. I let her try it on last weekend and she cried tears of joy. So cute.
For myself I’m getting one of those pregnant skeleton shirts for work and just will wear that for trick or treat as well. I plan on telling my students on Halloween or whatever day we have class parties, so that will be a fun accessories to share the surprise. I’ll be 20 weeks by then so let’s hope I have a bump. I was much bigger with DD by this point so we will see.
I'm *really* hoping to have a big enough bump by Halloween to pull off Ali Wong! She is so hilarious and awesome and I hope it works out. I'm also hoping to convince my husband to dress as a noteworthy woman this year. I think DD will be Ruth Bader Ginsburg (we named her after RBG). We'll see if everyone plays along!
We usually only get really dressed up for my aunt and uncle's big Halloween party, but they're not having it this year. We will take DS to the zoo for Halloween, and trick or treating that night, so we probably won't go crazy this year. He already has a Batman and Spiderman costume, since he likes to play dress up, and he might get something else for actual Halloween. Like @AAAG13 I love the skeleton baby shirts, so I may get one of those to wear.
I may do a repeat of my first preggo costume. It was a trucker dude with a white tank and handlebar mustache. Was going for the beer gut look.
Dang. I just went through my Instagram feed and realized I have a little bit to live up to. Three years ago I created a gigantic paper mache disco ball to slip into. It was labor intensive and at 10:00 at night while I was doing paper mache I regretted that decision. Life was different back then with only one kid. 😂😂😂
No bump costume for me, but I might see if I can find a cute maternity top with a pumpkin or something. Idk
DD has told me she wants to be so many things. At the top of the list is “a bumble bee, with a bumble bee hat.” ?? She’s also mentioned a witch, a dragon, a penguin (which she was last year and was adorable) and a few other things. Who knows! We will probably get her two costumes because H is obsessed with Halloween.
we've never been big into Halloween - or at least not since our college days lol. Last year I borrowed a costume for DS, so he was a viking it was cute, but more torturous than anything for him. This year I've been saying that I might dress him up as Dwight from The Office, but I might have a hard time finding a short sleeved, yellow dress shirt in his size LOL. Not to mention it'll be impossible to keep glasses on him.
Nothing in particular about this is bump-centric, but our family is dressing up as Goodnight Moon (one of my daughter’s favorite books). I bought DD blue striped pajamas and bunny ears — she’ll be the little bunny. We also have a child’s hairbrush and some other things we can use as props. I bought myself a blue nightgown and will also obtain some ears and carry around a knitting project — I’m the Quiet Old Lady. My husband will be the moon, which we haven’t completely worked out yet. Maybe we’ll make one out of felt and sew it to a navy sweatshirt with some Pom Pom stars? I’m excited! We only dressed up DD as a little mushroom last year (she was 7 months old and oblivious).
Re: Halloween Costume Thread
Inspo pics in spoilers. We got some of our outfits in and I am amped.
I have to cut DS’ shirt and make his hat. I need some fake reading glasses and may wanna get DH a hook hand, but we’re in good shape!
