This is a place for those of us who have already started TTC, but have started infertility testing and/or treatments. You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on infertility. TTC can be a long journey naturally, then add in the difficulties associated with infertility, and it becomes a whole new ball game. The road to infertility can be lonely, frustrating, and complicated, so let's make this a place where we can vent, ask questions, and support one another. Feel free to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say. Treat this as an ongoing conversation.
Diagnosis (if you've been):
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA):
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?):
How are things going?:
Any questions?:
GTKY: What’s one of the funniest things that’s ever happened to you/that you’ve been involved in?
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): FET #1
How are things going?: Well the good news is that my Saline Sono last week was clear! Whatever my RE thought was off with the one before my ER was either gone now or nothing at all. So on with FET Prep! Today I'm starting Estrace and low dose asprin.
*TW* MC I've been struggling this weekend with what should have been my due date. And also today is my birthday which I usually love, but seems like it's also making me sad and depressed about still struggling with IF/RPL.
Any questions?: None right now
GTKY: What’s one of the funniest things that’s ever happened to you/that you’ve been involved in? I'll have to come back to this, I can't think of anything right now
((((hugs)))) @hanshotfirst77 those anniversaries are super hard. I'm sorry it's been a tough weekend. But happy birthday!!!!! 🎉🎉🎉. You are so. Loved. I am hopeful for literally your BEST YEAR EVER!!!!! 💖💖💖💖
@hanshotfirst77 I'm so sorry that incredibly difficult date is falling around your birthday. I can't imagine all of the emotions wrapped up in that. I'm glad you're starting FET prep!
Diagnosis (if you've been): AMA, blocked tube
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): TWW
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Just clomid, trigger shot and estrogen.
How are things going?: I'm sitting in the dr's office now, waiting for labs to check my progesterone levels. I feel really in the dark about why they do some of the things they do. Like, I have no idea why they're checking progesterone. I'm just blindly following recommendations a lot of the time. That's something i'm resolving to change next cycle-ask more questions, be borderline annoying about what I need!
Any questions?: Has anyone else struggled with asking questions at the RE?
GTKY: What’s one of the funniest things that’s ever happened to you/that you’ve been involved in? I too will have to come back to this. It's too early in the morning for me!
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WFAF so we can finally move on with the next cycle - I'm on CD 43 and still nothing at all! No AF and no BFP... ugh
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Just waiting it out at this point - next cycle will be 7.5 of letrozole, Trigger and IUI!
How are things going?: I'm okay - just tired (mentally, emotionally and physically) I took so many naps this weekend and went to bed at like 9:30 both Saturday and Sunday night. I still feel like I could sleep more though. My RE called me Friday to see what was going on and told me to call back this morning if AF still didn't arrive, which she didn't. So I'm going in tomorrow morning for blood work to see what's going on and where I am in my cycle. I'm looking forward to that - hopefully there will be some concrete information though.
Any questions?: Nope :-\
GTKY: What’s one of the funniest things that’s ever happened to you/that you’ve been involved in? This is a hard one! I'll have to (also) come back, after my coffee kicks in, and answer this one!
@shoogapoff Maybe it's to make sure the levels are good and where they should be incase you do get KU this cycle??
@hanshotfirst77 that's great news about the sono and that you're moving on! I'm sorry about the struggles this weekend, it's not easy, but you need to let yourself have those feelings and not keep them inside. We are here for you

@shoogapoff Thank you, I think they are probably checking progesterone to make sure you don't have low progesterone post ovulation. If you do then they would want to start you on supplements. At least that is the reason why they have ever checked mine. As for your question, I sometimes feel rushed at the RE especially during morning monitoring cause they are so busy. I try to come prepared with my questions if I have any, and I don't hesitate to bombard my nurse with emails/calls when I want something after the appt.
@kpearse99 I missed your post before posting mine. But I hope you get some answers soon! Those long cycles suck! Fx it comes soon so you can move onto your IUI cycle!
@hanshotfirst77 I am sorry friend. *hugs* But happy birthday! Try and do something special for yourself today.
@shoogapoff exactly what hanshot said. If your progesterone is too low then you wont be able to sustain a pregnancy, which is unfortunately the case for many. Good luck!
@kpearse99 Oh man, come on AF! I am jealous that you were able to sleep that much. I feel like I need to sleep that much, but just can't. But I am sorry that you are feeling so drained right now. I hope that AF shows up soon and that you are able to move forward and feel better all at the same time.
Diagnosis (if you've been): AMA, MFI (low morph)
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): RE appt Oct 2nd
How are things going?: The last few weeks have been crazy busy. They should start getting back to normal next week hopefully. Hurricanes, work and the in-laws have given us little down time. I did get in for my blood work this morning though, so we should have everything in order for our appt.
Any questions?:
GTKY: What’s one of the funniest things that’s ever happened to you/that you’ve been involved in? My uncle played this very elaborate prank on my mom and dad. It lasted months. He was essentially emailing her pretending to be this other person and my poor mom was too polite to tell them off. We were all in on it and waited to see just how far she would go before she gave in. It was great.
@hanshotfirst77 Sorry you’re struggling with that date right now. I can’t imagine how difficult this must be for you. That sucks that your birthday is making you feel sad too. I hope you have a happy birthday and may this be a year filled with good things!!
@shoogapoff Hope you are able to get more comfortable asking those questions. You are your own advocate! It may help if you write down the questions you have before you go so you don’t forget what you wanted to ask. I would think they want to check your progesterone to make sure it is a good number for where you are in your cycle- if not, they may start you on progesterone.
Diagnosis (if you've been): Some MFI, still testing
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): TWW
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Waiting for RE appointment
How are things going?: Things are going okay. I’m still frustrated that it’s such a long wait for an RE appointment. But I’m dealing with it. I’m trying to use this time to get into a healthier place- mentally and physically. DH and I also went away for our 1 year anniversary and it was so nice to get away just the 2 of us.
Any questions?: No
GTKY: I will have to come back to this too!

@kpearse99 Sorry you are stuck in limbo right now. It’s such a hard place to be when you aren’t sure what’s going on with your body. Hope you get some answers at tomorrow’s appointment.
@nitnat007 Wow that sounds really busy, but glad to hear things should be getting back to normal. Hope you were safe with those hurricanes and no damage was done around you. That sounds like an awesome prank and I love that you were all in on it!

@misshelen86 I still can't believe your appointment is that far out, it's mind boggling to me! I am glad you got some time away though with YH! It's nice to escape and just be present in the moment

@nitnat007 Thank you I hope you guys are ok from the Churriguera and things calm down a bit.
@misshelen86 Thank you I hate that you have to wait so long for the RE, That has to be so frustrating. But I am glad you are taking the time to do positive things and some self care. Fx the time flies by.
@hanshotfirst77 I'm glad your saline sono was all clear! You're so close, and I couldn't be more excited for you. You're right, birthdays and milestones while TTC are the worst. But, as @BusinessWife said, this is going to be your best year ever!
@shoogapoff I always write down questions beforehand so I don't feel "on the spot" at the appt. I also like what others have said about getting a nurse's email so you can ask questions as the occur to you.
@misshelen86 so sorry for the wait too. It's unbelievably frustrating. But happy anniversary!! I'm so glad you got some quality H time (:
@nitnat007 I'm glad things are getting back to normal for you. And also it's crazy how close October 2nd is - I just realized that September's over half done! Yikes.
Diagnosis: unexplained
Status: WTO
What are you doing this cycle? Last testing cycle before IUI in October. HSG on Friday, and then kinda benched due to poorly timed work travel.
How are things going? On the struggle bus. I spent so much time crying this weekend. We haven't even really started treatment yet and I'm already so hopeless. I also drank a lot of wine and coffee too which is not like me (well, the wine. It's very like me to drink coffee). Since I'll be benched and out of the country this cycle I may not be around much, but I'm rooting for you all and I hope that when I come back, I'm just talking to myself in this thread.
Any questions? Not TTGP related but if anybody has any podcast/audiobooks recommendations, hit me up pls.
GTKY: Hmmm, I think a lot of my funny/ridiculous things happened while I was in college before I became a responsible. But @nitnat007 reminded me that I have done a couple of silly pranks. This one time at violin camp (I know, nerdy. I was probably a pre-teen or so) my bestie and I decided to play a prank on our friend by leaving plastic forks all over her violin case, and by her bed. It took her a couple days to notice, but when she did, she got really concerned and told a bunch of people. There started to be all these "copycat" pranks involving plastic forks all over the place and we couldn't believe how our harmless prank turned into a huge deal.
@hanshotfirst77 I’m so sorry for the upcoming DD and that you’re (very understandably) feeling this way on your birthday. I’m glad to hear your sono was clear and you can keep moving forward with FET prep! Do they have an approximate date yet? So sorry if you’ve mentioned it, once again this thread got away from me last week.
@shoogapoff that’s frustrating that they aren’t really explaining the different tests. I agree with others that they’re testing to see if you’ve ovulated and how high your progesterone is. I definitely struggle asking questions. I try to write them all down in a note on my phone and get it out before the Re can leave. She probably LOVES me peppering her with questions every time I come for an US but it’s the only time I can get a hold of her.
@kpearse99 gahhh your cycle. I’m sorry. I hope you get some answers this week as to what’s going on! We’ll be on the same exact protocol next cycle!
@nitnat007 phew, sounds busy busy busy! Hopefully things slow down soon. Only a couple weeks until your RE appt- yay! That’s too funny about your mom 😂
@misshelen86 where’d you guys go? I’m glad you were able to take a trip with just the two of you. I’m so sorry you’re still waiting for an appt. How frustrating
@jennifer_louise I’m sorry you’re struggling, friend. I wish we lived closer so I could chug wine / coffee with you. Just know you have us to commiserate with at any time!
@b_1029 I laughed at your "gahhh your cycle" comment So thanks for that! You gotta be able to laugh at yourself, right?! I like that we'll have the same path next cycle, about when would you start yours? Hopefully we are around the same time?

How are things going?: ok minus triggers everywhere, including the driveby this morning. DH and I always said we wanted 3 kids and I’d give anything to make that happen. For now I would just be thrilled with 1. I’m also just starting to avoid situations. I’m literally terrified of my cousin telling me she’s KU again after trying for 2 seconds- I was supposed to go home at the end of Sept to hang out with her + my other cousin and I made up a BS excuse of why I couldn’t go anymore. As of now, we aren’t going home for thanksgiving either. Sorry parents but the only way I’m coming home is if I’m KU, I just can’t handle it. I hate being / feeling this way.
Any questions?: nope

@b_1029 I'm sorry you got triggered too. That drive by was rough this morning. And I know how you feel about being so scared about announcements and struggles with family events. Big hugs to you too! And as of right now my tentative FET date is 10/4!
@b_1029 ahhhhhh those triggers suck so so so much and I have found myself avoiding situations lately too. I'm here if you wanna vent or talk.

@jennifer_louise I recently found an IF podcast called "I Want to Put a Baby in You". I haven't listened to a lot of it, but it has been interesting so far.
@jennifer_louise I'm sorry this weekend really took a toll on you It's all just so unfair and sucks so much. It doesn't help that you don't really get to "try" this cycle due to work travel getting in the way - I know what that is like. How are things going?: Strap in ladies, this is rough....I had a horrible Sunday because my family finds it's acceptable to pick on me for shit that doesn't even matter. My sister is an asshole. Everybody thinks my emotion is my problem only when it's people saying stuff to me that triggers me hardcore and I just exploded. I've been teased by my siblings my whole life and my parents have never once stood up for me or told them to ever apologize to me.
And to top it off, BFf*ckingN this morning at 6dpt so then I was distraught all day at work and DH was trying really hard to cheer me up and kept telling me to think positive but I was in such a dark place and wanted to completely give up on this IF journey. I know it could still be too early for testing if the embryo took it's sweet time but I really felt lost. I've always wanted one of each and that stark white test just ripped my heart apart knowing this was our only chance for a boy. I'm doing much better now but thinking about it still makes me want to cry. No more tests for me except for beta on Friday.

@inthewoods23 I don't know what to say, friend, except that sucks so much. Extra hugs for you today. I so much wanted to see you never post in this thread again except as a lurker.
I forgot to mention that DH's method of cheering me up today has been putting cute little phrases on top of our embryo picture (he took a pic on his phone so we'd have a digital copy). Like little motivational posters. Some of my favorites:
"Not to ovary-act... But this place is sweet!" "RING RING! Hello?... Yes, I'd like some womb service, please" "...she likes to dance like WOMB-a Thurman" "Let me know if I'm being too loud out there... I can always turn down the vol-womb"
I don't deserve this man 😭 he's just too sweet.

Ugh, @inthewoods23 I’m so sorry you’re dealing with so much all at once. You’re not alone; you’ve got a good man by your side...and a crap ton of internet stalkers behind you. ❤️ I truly hope for better news on Friday.
@inthewoods23 I'm so sorry for all of the negativity you're experiencing. It isn't fair. Crossing all the things for you. Oh, and I love the motivational posters YH is creating! So sweet. I'm glad you have him in this with you. And, as @begging4abump said, we're all rooting for you too!

Dx: MFI 10/19- First RE visit 2/20- DH had surgery for bilateral varicoceles 7/20- IUI with 5 mg letrozole- BFN 9/20- IVF. 9 eggs retrieved, 9 mature, 8 fertilized with ICSI, 7 blasts, 4 PGT-A normal 11/20- Mock transfer/ERA 12/20- FET #1- transferred one 4AB- BFN 3/21- FET #2- transferred one 3AB- BFP! Due Dec 2021 12/21- Baby girl born!
@inthewoods23 I’m sorry for that BFN today, but I’m going with the fact that it’s still too early. 🤞🏼 🤞🏼
Also, what the actual hell with your family? Family is supposed to be supportive and encouraging, with a little side of teasing from time to time, but constant? That’s just not right, and it’s not something you need at this moment in life either. Have you ever said anything to them??
lastly, YH is amazing!!!

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Waiting for cycle to start to schedule SHG. We got our karyotyping results late last week and they came back normal...so yay for that!
How are things going?: Pretty good, just waiting for my next cycle to start. Sorry I ghosted this thread last week...I got super overwhelmed with how fast it was moving and felt like I’d never be able to catch up! I read/loved all your posts, but just didn’t feel like I could join in! I’m going to try and do better this week!
Any questions?: Does anyone have experience with Prometrium/Provera to bring on a period? I’m on Day 12 after the last pill and still no AF. I’ve had some O signs (EWCM & slightly elevated heart rate) the past couple of days. I stopped temping when I started taking the medicine, so I have no way to confirm if O is happening. I plan to call the doc in a few days if AF still hasn’t arrived, but just wanted to see if anyone had experience. I’m wondering if the meds may have just delayed ovulation, but I’m not sure if that’s even possible. Has anyone had the meds delay ovulation or just not work to bring on AF? Kind of frustrating that it seems not to have worked...I wish I had just been a bit more patient and not taken the meds but I really didn’t expect to O on time with just Metformin since I never have (and I still may not be now)!
GTKY: What’s one of the funniest things that’s ever happened to you/that you’ve been involved in? Oh man...I’m pretty boring. I guess at our wedding, when the pastor announced us for the first time he said DH’s name & then mine...but mine ended up being a mesh of DH’s & mine (and he didn’t correct it). So he basically gave us a “Brangelina” name, which we joke about and still use today!
@hanshotfirst77 so glad the saline sono was clear...FET here you come!! So sorry for the empty due date, sending hugs! 💜 Happy Birthday!!
@shoogapoff hope your progesterone results come back good!! Fingers crossed this is your cycle!
@kpearse99 sending positive vibes for your RE appt. this morning...hoping you get positive results from the BW!!
@nitnat007 sorry life has been so crazy, glad it seems to be settling down some though!
@misshelen86 so sorry you have had to wait so long for your RE appt...but I love the positive attitude in your time of waiting! Still hoping you don’t need the appt at all!
@jennifer_louise sorry for all the feels!! Sending hugs! 💜 Hope your HSG goes well and you have an amazing work trip!! Can’t wait to hear all about it!
@b_1029 so sorry for all the triggers and feeling like you have to avoid events to avoid the triggers!! I totally get it though! Fingers crossed you are KU by Thanksgiving, so you can enjoy spending it with family!!
@inthewoods23 so sorry for all you are dealing with!! Shame on your siblings!! Sending hugs!! 💜 Hopefully it was just too early to test and you will get amazing news on Friday!! +1 for thinking your DH is amazing!!!
@bluetickgal I have no experience with Prometrium or Provera so I can't offer any advice, I just wanted to say you're not alone on the waiting game and I'm right there with ya

@bluetickgal I usually get AF within a few days of taking Provera. But I have heard that sometimes you need two doses of it. Might be worth asking your doctor what they recommend. Fx it comes soon!
So I don't really have anything to update yet, but I made my first appointment for tomorrow morning to discuss why I can't get KU after 12 months. I'm feeling very emotional about it, and also anxious. I'm trying to figure out what I should expect for tomorrow. I'll have my TTC history with me, and can talk about what I've tried. I'm anxious to know what my next steps will be - any wisdom to share? Thanks!!

Hi @mvt2003 sorry to see you posting here, but hope your OB/RE can help you out! My first discussion with the OB was fairly limited- she just asked how long we'd been trying, how I was confirming O, what supplements, if we were using lube, etc. Then she ordered blood work for me (7dpo and CD3) and a SA for my hubs. Then I'm guessing you will either be prescribed Clomid (depending on how everything looks) or referred to an RE. Some OBs can do more testing (SHG/HSG/ultrasound) but according to my OB at least, it's cheaper to have those done at the RE.
Also, if you or YH has good insurance, you can start looking into what might be covered.
Hope it's not too overwhelming, I know this all sucks. But we're all here with you, so know you're not alone! ♥️
@jennifer_louise Thank you! I would probably be completely losing it if I didn't have you ladies! I'm super lucky to live in MA where pretty much everything will be covered by insurance (although I know there will be out-of-pocket charges somewhere, it's unavoidable). I had my progesterone tested before I started TTC, but I assume it will be re-tested. I'm fairly confident that I am ovulating, so I don't know if Clomid will be useful for me.

@mvt2003 agreed with what Jennifer said. My OB ran all the standard blood tests after my first appt. I also ovulate on my own but she prescribed clomid (she said to make it “stronger”...I guess that’s the same reasoning behind me taking letrozole now). I honestly don’t think OBs know what else to do haha.
@b_1029 Thank you! (Also, YGPM from earlier discussion) My OB knows I'm kind of a full-speed-ahead girl, so hoping we can get things moving along. I'll be interested to hear what she says about Clomid for me.

@bluetickgal Thanks! My progesterone came back good, apparently. They said I definitely ovulated, and want me to stay on Estrogen until my beta on Monday.
@bluetickgal it has taken me anywhere from 1-12 days to get my period following Provera. My doctors office always said that if nothing happened within 14 days of finishing it, then to call them and they’d do bloodwork before prescribing another dose.

@hanshotfirst77 that's great news about the sono and that you're moving on! I'm sorry about the struggles this weekend, it's not easy, but you need to let yourself have those feelings and not keep them inside. We are here for you

I’m trying to use this time to get into a healthier place- mentally and physically. DH and I also went away for our 1 year anniversary and it was so nice to get away just the 2 of us.

@shoogapoff I always write down questions beforehand so I don't feel "on the spot" at the appt. I also like what others have said about getting a nurse's email so you can ask questions as the occur to you.

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): FET
Any questions?: no

Thanks!!

@bluetickgal it has taken me anywhere from 1-12 days to get my period following Provera. My doctors office always said that if nothing happened within 14 days of finishing it, then to call them and they’d do bloodwork before prescribing another dose.
