    1. How many weeks are you? 20w3d

    2. Previous loss(es)? 1/10/19

    3. How are you feeling? Emotionally and physically? I'm alright. I feel more energetic, but I'm also less patient with people and the world. I also have this meh approach to things like dishes and laundry. And cooking. And cleaning in general.

    4. Any appointment updates? 9/24

    5. Rants/Raves/Questions?  Negatory

    6. Any milestones coming up? 20w was a huge milestone for women in their 40s. It lowered our loss risk to 5%. Now, I'm patiently counting down the days until 90% viability, at 27w. Or not so patiently:
    The Final Countdown

    7. GTKY: When it comes to fall treats, do you prefer apple or pumpkin? What’s your favorite treat?  I'm supposed to pick ONE???? It depends. I love Honeycrisp apples, Wasail, Cider, apple bread, etc. But, I also love pumpkin bread, pumpkin pie, cooking savory dishes with pumpkin. Pumpkin or Apple empanadas. Nope. Infact, I'm going to say instead of enjoying a hot cup of coffee with my pumpkin pie, I want a mug of cider. How about them apples...er pumpkins....er pumpkin spice fried apples?
  • 1. How many weeks are you? 21 weeks

    2. Previous loss(es)? 6 losses. 12/13, 1/17, 11/17, 4/18, 9/18, 2/19

    3. How are you feeling? Emotionally and physically? Surprisingly ok. I think taking the testing off the table helped stabilize me a little. I’ve been enjoying feeling movement and finally started allowing myself to get into it. Physically I need to look for a chiropractor and just take the plunge and make an appt. The middle of my
back on the right side hurts so bad sometimes and my hips and starting to be annoying as well.

    4. Any appointment updates? Anatomy scan on Friday

    5. Rants/Raves/Questions? I started looking into photographers for maternity, fresh 48 and newborn photos. I actually found one who is super budget friendly and takes beautiful pictures, so I’m excited about that.

    6. Any milestones coming up? Each successful scan is a milestone at this point. Viability will be the big one at 24 weeks.

    7. GTKY: When it comes to fall treats, do you prefer apple or pumpkin? What’s your favorite treat? Love all things apple. I grew up in the northeast so apple picking, cider, cider donuts are some of my favorite things. @fyreflyerush I could get behind some pumpkin spice fried apples though 🤤.

  • @mommahov13 , I had my first at 19..my second at 35...my loss at 41...and this one at 42. I'm getting my TDaP updated and getting a Flu Shot. Tell your friend vaccines are believed *coughKNOWNcough* to lower the risk of infant and child mortality more than they are to cause pregnancy loss. Not sure how physically close she is to you, but then tell her she can keep her unvaccinated children to herself!
  • 1. How many weeks are you? 20w 6d

    2. Previous loss(es)? 6/2013

    3. How are you feeling? Emotionally and physically?  We found out Monday evening that we are having a boy.  I am still in shock.  We didn't think it was really possible (H's family the men all have only girls).  I am starting to get over the surprise and get super excited about being a boy mom.  Also wondering how long he will be able to share a room with one of his older sisters. We had planned on putting them two and two into the two bigger bedrooms, and then turning the smaller nursery into a closet for all 4 of them.  They will still be able to share, but there will be an age when they don't want to be with the opposite sex anymore - trying to decide when that might be.

Physically I feel good but tired.  H is out of town.  He was mostly home during the summer, but now his traveling is starting back up, which none of us are psyched about.  Taking care of the other three by myself is exhausting.

    4. Any appointment updates? My anatomy scan went well.  I love being able to watch baby for that long.   My next midwife appt is next week.

    5. Rants/Raves/Questions? Nope

    6. Any milestones coming up?  Just waiting for viability now

    7. GTKY: When it comes to fall treats, do you prefer apple or pumpkin? What’s your favorite treat?  Definitely apple.  And our house we bought this year has several apple trees!

  • @MollySm my youngest sister and brother (they are two years apart) shared a room until 5 and 3. My sister then moved into a room with another one of my sisters .
  • @FyreFlyeRush way to go on the 20w milestone!
@kbrown2385 I’m glad that not testing has helped ease your mind so you can enjoy this pregnancy.
@mommahov13 Now I have an intense craving for pumpkin scones!
@MollySm That’s wonderful that you have apple trees on your property! What kind of apples are they?

    1. How many weeks are you? 22 weeks today

    2. Previous loss(es)? DD’s twin 2/17

    3. How are you feeling? Emotionally and physically? Just my usual weepy, sensitive self but really loving how active this kiddo is. I feel movement all the time now, which has been great. Physically, I am battling a cold DD gave the whole family, so that’s been rough.

    4. Any appointment updates? 9/25 for my 24 week appt just with NP, I think.

    5. Rants/Raves/Questions? For sciatic nerve pain (back/butt) would you guys lean more toward PT or chiro?

    6. Any milestones coming up? 24 week viability is my next big one.

    7. GTKY: When it comes to fall treats, do you prefer apple or pumpkin? What’s your favorite treat? I love both apple and pumpkin, which is probably part of why I enjoy autumn so much. Apple cider and apple crisp are huge favorites of mine, but I also love pumpkin bread (no nuts, though!) and pumpkin bars and pumpkin pie.
  • @MollySm I feel you. I was convinced we were having a girl and when the u/s tech said it was a boy, I was still having dreams that we would find out it was a mistake LOL When we had our anatomy scan, she confirmed again and it was even more visible, so I’ve conceded. I don’t know why I was being so stubborn, other than the fact that I’ve always been right with my other kids. I mean, my husband’s family has just about all boys in three generations.

Also, about sharing rooms, my brother and I shared a room until I was in 5th grade and he was in 3rd. We were just shy of 2 years apart and we were best friends. Our parents basically had to force us to have separate rooms LOL My middle and oldest are 3.5 years apart and shared a room until like 3 and 6 and then had their own rooms for like a year and a half and then they wanted to move back in with each other. They shared until we moved into our current house 4 years ago, so ages 8 and 11.
  • 1. . How many weeks are you? 20+4

    2. Previous loss(es)? 12/18 4/19

    3. How are you feeling? Emotionally and physically? A bit of an emotional wreck to be honest. I was on a high after seeing the baby yesterday but came crashing down today. I got the ultrasound report today and was somewhat prepared from the tech but not for the potential severity. They found that I have some blood vessels near the cervix or crossing it. Anyways, I have to have a follow up with a high risk OB which scares the heck out of me. Then I googled Vasa previa which is what is indicated on this ultrasound and that was a mistake so even though it's unconfirmed and could change, I'm pretty scared. I know that I'm in good hands but I feel a bit in limbo at the moment.

    4. Any appointment updates? Sooner than I would like probably...

    5. Rants/Raves/Questions? Anyone know of good outcomes with this? I know if it stays I'll have a c section at 35-36 weeks and likely be hospitalized from 32 weeks...

    6. Any milestones coming up? Now I can't wait for viability more than ever!

    7. GTKY: When it comes to fall treats, do you prefer apple or pumpkin? What’s your favorite treat? Honestly I like them equally just not pumpkin spice on its own. The pumpkin stuff has to have pumpkin in it!
  • @biolprof I'm so sorry about your US finding.  Is it associated with a velamentous cord insertion?  I believe they usually go hand in hand and I was just diagnosed with VCI at my anatomy scan on Monday.  It's so scary for sure, but try not to panic until you meet with MFM and get more information and a confirmed diagnosis.  Sending love and good vibes.

  • @DalexRN mine is fine around the cord I think just the vessels right by the cervix but who knows really. I'm sure we'll know more after more scans. Not a lot rattles my OB. In fact I told her yesterday that they saw a low lying placenta and she seemed unconcerned. So the fact that she wants a second opinion and said no sex scared me. Hoping the best for both of us!
  • @biolprof I’m sorry about the worrisome findings and hope you get good news with the 2nd opinion. Thinking of you.
  • @biolprof im sorry about the discovery at your U/S. There are so many things to worry about during a pregnancy & this is just another added stress for you :(
Though the fact that it has been picked up and will be monitored by specialists and the best possible care given to you & baby can be some comfort hopefully! Sending you all the creepy internet hugs! xxx
  • @biolprof I’m so sorry you are dealing with this. I’m glad you are getting a second opinion from mfm. From what I read (because I’m a nerd and like to research) it looks like outcomes are great since it has been diagnosed prenatally. From the research I read through NIH it looks like people are only hospitalized that early when signs of labor or risk of membrane ruptures are seen. Obviously mfm will be able to tell you better than I can. Sending all the hugs your way!
  • @DalexRN what are next steps for you? Have you seen mfm yet regarding the VCI?

Absolutely this. It's so hard not to panic, but the prognosis really is good. Also, seeing an MFM isn't really that bad, I promise. They're just better specialized in complications that might pop up. I loved both of mine, they were able to put me at ease even when things looked grim with DS1 and I had the world's worse PGAL brain/White Coat syndrome. @biolprof and @DalexRN, please, please, please keep us posted...and we're all thinking of you.
  • Thinking of you both, @biolprof and @DalexRN.

  • Thanks ladies! I know I shouldn't panic and actually even though it is a serious complication it's not even fully diagnosed yet so I shouldn't assume the worst. Also the outcomes are quite good but silly me I'm confident in the doctors ability, I'm just nervous how it's going affect my ability to do my job as I'm already now on activity restrictions and I may have to deliver at a hospital far from home so my head just spins with worry and it will be nice to meet with MFM just to know more what's in store.

@DalexRN well it's likely good news that you don't meet criteria for a C section yet as weird as that sounds. It's so hard to be in limbo. Thinking of you!
  • @dalexrn I’m glad you’re going to be monitored closely. I’m surprised just this alone wouldn’t have you meet criteria for an early elective cs. What exactly needs to happen for that? Sorry if it’s too many questions, I’m just genuinely curious. Feel free to tell me to shut up at anytime 😬
  • 1. How many weeks are you? 24w1D

    2. Previous loss(es)? Sep 2018 and Mar 2019

    3. How are you feeling? Emotionally and physically? pretty good, no issues right now, just the hip pain etc.

    4. Any appointment updates? I had my midwife on tuesday where she gave me the rec for the glucose test and some blood work. She said to do it any time between now and 28 weeks, I think I will wait more closely to mid 26 weeks to do it. Also at the appointment they measured my fundal height which matched up right with my weeks pregnant so I thought that was cool

    5. Rants/Raves/Questions?

    6. Any milestones coming up? viability is here! Now let's get to the third trimester :)

    7. GTKY: When it comes to fall treats, do you prefer apple or pumpkin? What’s your favorite treat? it's hard to go between the pumpkin and apple, both are so awesome, I have 2 apple tree's so I definitely make a lot of apple dessert's now in the fall but when I'm out I enjoy pumpkin pie the best

@kbrown2385 good luck at your anatomy scan tomorrow!
@EmilyE13 I would check out both PT and chiro if possible. PT will help for long term resolve of the issue, chiro can help manage it quickly. When I had sever sciatic pain and post partum issues I did both but ultimately it was the Chiro who also did electro-acupuncture that solved the issue in the end
@biolprof sorry to hear about your US results, do you know when your follow-up is?
@DalexRN good idea to join the FB group to learn more about it.Thinking of you!

  • @c1kc1kpol1cn1k I'm currently impatiently waiting for the MFM office to call and schedule from the referral...
  • @biolprof ughh waiting is no fun, I hope they call soon ❤️
  • @kbrown2385 Honestly I am not sure, but I know the criteria are very strict.  Essentially in America OB's are terrified of (and prohibited from) inducing prior to 39 weeks because it was discovered there was still a high rate of neonatal distress even among 37 and 38 weekers.  Remember when OB's would induce early because they had a vacation, or whatever?  No more.  Lots of lawsuits, etc. The MFM actually had the criteria from the American Assoc of Obstetricians pinned on the board above her desk and looked to see if VCI was an indication for early delivery and it was not, even with a history of fetal demise.  She did say she would re-evaluate as the pregnancy progresses because if I develop other issues that can change things.

  • 1. How many weeks are you? 22 tomorrow

    2. Previous loss(es)? My son at 17 Weeks

    3. How are you feeling? Emotionally and physically? Doing good this week, mostly because I had my A/S and I now have reassurance that everything looks good with baby.  Except her cord (see above).

    4. Any appointment updates? I see my OB next week and will discuss his thoughts on precautions with a velamentous cord insertion.  Then a fetal echo 10/1, which is now being done by a pediatric cardiologist due to strong family and personal history of congenital heart defects ( I had open heart surgery as a child, my daughter had 2 VSD's).

    5. Rants/Raves/Questions? I've started getting terrible charley horses in my calves at night.  Anyone else?

    6. Any milestones coming up? Viability in 2 weeks!

    7. GTKY: When it comes to fall treats, do you prefer apple or pumpkin? What’s your favorite treat? Tough one!  I love both but apple probably wins by a hair.  Apple cider, apple crisp, taffy apples...yummy!
  • Thinking of you today @kbrown2385! Hoping for good news. I could use it!
  • @biolprof thank you! Keeping my fx!
  • @DalexRN I've done so much more reading these days. It does seem like VCI is so closely related to Vasa previa. Did they rule out VP for you? The tech didn't mention a VCI for me but now I wonder. I have the images of the ultrasound in my brain but I can't remember enough detail lol. It seems such a weird place to be in and a big black box for treatment for both of us. Hoping they call me to schedule the follow up soon!
  • @biolprof Yes they did rule it out.  The MFM said when they see a VCI the very first thing they do is assess for VP, so I really think if you do indeed have VP you probably have VCI too.  The VP is due to the cord being inserted in the wrong place and blood vessels traveling across the cervix to get to the placenta.  Did you have placenta previa at all?  I know that can cause vessels near the cervix as well.  I can't image how crazy you must be going not having answers - call Monday if they don't call you first - be aggressive and push the process along. Keep me updated!

  • @DalexRN it could be a VCI but DH says he remembers the cord coming out in a different area of the placenta but I don't remember. It's not indicated in the report and says normal cord insertion. As I remember it looks like I had a placental previa that moved and left some fetal vessels near the cervix which isn't the most common way for it to happen but who knows. I think I will call on Monday! I'm glad they checked for a VP. From I read that means it is less risky and people do deliver at term fine that way but I can understand your apprehension! Even if they tell me it is fine, I don't think I can shake that terror.
