Hey all, I know it gets quiet around here on the weekends, but in case people do stop in, and were game, here it is. What’s the silliest or most embarrassing nickname that you have ever given or received? Could be from a past or present relationship, could be a romantic relationship or familial, or heck, even platonic, just make sure that it’s cringe-worthy. 😉

We call each other Boo, but when we first started dating, I asked him if there were any pet names he hated. He asked what that word meant and I said, “You know, like Schmoopy Woopy Woopy Woo?” Then it became a joke. First it was Schmoopy Woopy and then Schmoopy and Schmoops. We are 7 years in and haven’t used it in years now.

So this pet name didn’t bother me at the time but now it’s cringe-worthy. I had a wonderful boyfriend that always called me Island Girl (since I’m from an island). After a couple years I fell out of love w him and we broke up. However, we were friends before we dated so we stayed friends after. He continued to call me Island Girl, which made me cringe. Now he’s also married with a kid & still texts me every now & then asking “Hey, how are you Island Girl?” It makes me cringe AND I don’t respond because it feels real inappropriate now.

Oh my gosh I didn’t think I’d have anything to contribute to this thread but @keikilove your story reminded me

I dated a younger guy - just enough younger that it raised some eyebrows but nothing crazy. Like he was 21-22 and I was in my mid to late twenties. Anyway. He used to call me “ms. lastname” and I thought it was sexy at the time but now I want to die thinking about it.

Ok, you ladies are gonna love this lol. Me and my DH always call each other pet names all the time too. Don’t ask me why and how I even came up with this name but I call my husband “pumpkin nose” hahahaha. 😂😂 weird I know lol. His nose doesn’t look like a pumpkin so I don’t know lol. It just like started randomly one day but ya. He hates it sooo much when I call him that a lot so he bugs be back and calls me squash face lol (like pumpkin squash). We also call each other “Love” a lot. Or I call him peanut too.

Oh and I have to share this. My boss at work calls her husband as a pet name “dirty sanchez” lol 😆 🤷‍♀️

Omg I can’t believe we’re doing this. For the record, the really embarrassing one is one we both use for each other (and the dog) and that one will have to go to the next life with me 😂.

When we first started dating, I started calling him “snuggle bunny”, which he hated. It then became “bunny” or sometimes just “bun”. I still call him that and he’s mostly resigned to it 9 years in 😂😂😂

Also, MH is a very large imposing guy, pretty much the last person on the planet you’d think of when you hear “bunny” 😂😂😂

Y’all didn’t disappoint!!

mh calls me so many different names, but most frequently calls me “mobes.” He started off with my name + mobile (pronounced mobeel) and then shorted to just mobile, and now just mobes. Really it makes no sense, but it’s not corny, so ok. I call him Dandelion though when no one else is around, and he’d be so upset if anyone knew that. 😂🤫

MH and I don't use pet names. Maybe "Dear" when I am annoyed with him. "You are doing it wrong DEAR."

So y'all know when everyone was using the word "bae"? well H and I started calling each other it AS A JOKE. but then it just stuck and I was like whatever haha but it evolved into different phrases like bae nugget, bae nuggz, bae nougat (ya like the nougat in candy bars) and most recently just "bagel" lmao I don't know why but it's funny and we will yell bagel from across the house now and I love it.

@mvt2003 I seriously love that there's a name you use for each other *and* the dog. Family nickname!!

We often call each other Stewie, for reasons that are unclear even to me.

My hubs and I have had numerous names over the years and always revert back to the classic babe and baby, as well as my love, but since we got our dog years back I've also been mama. More unique names include sea lion for DH (bc he just floats so naturally in the ocean) and porcupine for me - no clue why. Also peanut butter for DH (which has morphed into peanut head) and jelly for me. Yes we are peanut butter and jelly and even gave each other the same themed card for our anniversary one year.

@whitealbum29 Sometimes when I walk into a room and say "hello Xyz" MH actually asks me if I mean him or the dog! TBH, it's always the dog I'm speaking to
