Last week I made an appointment with my OB (she delivered my 1st) and today I called to change the date and was told I don’t have an appointment. This surprised me because they took all my info (including insurance). So I asked to make an appointment and was told my doctor isn’t taking new pregnancies. I could only see the new physician (a male). For personal reasons, I prefer a female doctor and, ideally, my previous ob because of how complicated my first pregnancy was. The office refused to schedule me stating that my Dr. had no openings until the end of November.
I went online and was able to schedule an existing patient appointment for October (same time as the appointment I initially scheduled). But I’m worried. Is the practice going to cancel this appointment? Has anyone else been told that you can’t see your doctor even as an established patient?
I’m wondering if I should try to find a new practice or just hope I will be able to see my OB.
To answer your question, since you were able to schedule an appointment I would discuss your concerns with the OB at that time. Maybe in the mean time start looking at other offices just in case.
@m6agua The practice cancelled my appointment so I am going to have to look for a new OB. I’ve never heard of a doctor refusing to accept an existing patient but I guess things have changed since my last baby 🤷🏽♀️
