I'm sending in my paperwork to get DC's birth cert, and I'm wondering if I should get 2 for some reason?
Married on 3.20.2004. It took 30 month, 2 failed adoptions and IVF for our first miracle. We have had 9 foster kids since he was born and started the domestic adoption process when he was 10 month old, we had 4 failed matches in that time. After our daughter was born we brought her home and spent 2 weeks fearing we might lose her because of complications that came up. But Praise God all went through and she is ours forever! Expecting again after IVF
Definitely get more than 1 because if you want to apply for a passport, you have to send the original copy in (you get it back but it takes a couple of weeks) I got 3
Mine were $20 for the 1st and $17 or each after that. I got 2. Then I found out that you can make copies of them and have them notorized and be concidered an original, DH is a notary so that could have saved me lots of money. We won't be living here forever and it's not easy to get one mailed to you.
We got 5 total, but the first was $12, and each additional was only $4. We figured that it was easier to order too many now, than have to deal with the hassle of getting another copy later.
Mine came automatically in the mail. It comes from when you fill out paperwork in the hospital. I don't think I paid for it and I don't think there was any option for ordering more than one. Any NYers know what I'm talking about or am I an idiot?
Re: How many copies of Birth Cert?
Geez! I paid $40 for 2! I wonder why the cost difference?
Ohio has some of the highest taxes and gov't related fees in the country.
We got two - we just sent one off for her passport... so just in case, it's good to have a backup!
