Twins One Heart Beat

We went in for our check up. I am 7 weeks pregnant. The doctor saw 2 babies but only one heart beat. We are in complete shock. I was a hot mess the whole time 😩. The doctor said we need to go back next week & see if he can see a heart beat. Has anyone else experienced this?

My first was a twin but only one sac developed into something. I had to go back for montoring to ensure the sac absorbed. This was also ivf and I had two embryos inserted and was monitored much sooner than a typical pregnancy.
