Anyone else in the path of this thing? The pictures coming out of the Bahamas are heartbreaking. We are up in coastal Va so not expecting too much thankfully.
Thanks @biolprof and @kbrown2385 . I'm in the panhandle, so basically Alabama, and it looks like this storm is going to ride up the east coast. But we've got our addition roof done just in case!
I hope everyone stays safe. We have a friend on the VA/NC boarder right now for his dad’s funeral (which is a whole other shit storm) but they managed to get the funeral scheduled for Wednesday before the storm hits. So hopefully he’ll be able to get back to Minnesota before all he’ll breaks loose his way.
DD kept talking about "a big noise at nursery" yesterday when she came home, all evening she talked about it and it was the first thing she said when she woke up this morning again. i asked at drop off this morning as we couldnt figure out what it could have been and it turns out they had a fire drill yesterday.
I'm the matron of honor at my best friend's wedding on Saturday, and haven't written my speech yet. I have all of the thoughts, just need to get it down on paper. Feeling superrr guilty about it
@amb0924 Don't feel guilty! Some people just work better not writing stuff down. I didn't write anything down and it went well. My bff wrote notes down during the rehearsal dinner. ☺️
@leprechaunlady I'm surprised that the daycare didn't tell the parents about the fire drill. Our daycare lets us know when things like that happen, in case the kids talk about it.
Of friend of mine's wife was due at the end of August and I hadn't heard anything, so I asked my BFF about it. Here's how that convo went
Me: Hey, did Friend's wife deliver yet? BFF: Yep. But, I'm really mad at Friend. Also, my stomach is upset Me: You're PREGNANT!!!! Me (answering for her): BFF - Shut your filthy whore mouth!!! FFR - I'm just pointing out this is the point in my pregnancy with DS you became pregnant with DD! And why are you mad at Friend? BFF: Estupida. It's not that kind of upset stomach. And, I haven't gotten any pics of the baby yet! Me: Did you get a name? BFF: Nada Me: That's a lovely name, if somewhat mean. BFF: ... Me: Daughter of mine! You mean NOTHING!!!! BFF: LOL, well played ma'am
(For those confused, nada is Spanish for nothing. She was saying she hadn't gotten the name, and I was being me)

I have friend of the family due in Oct who had decided already before the storm was named to name their kid Dorain Lane and now she has to wrestle with the fact that everyone is going to think that he was named after the storm hah!

did anyone else send their kid off for the first day of school today? I was so excited and emotional haha
@c1kc1kpol1cn1k ds had his “meet the teacher” day today and that was tons of fun 😬. I had to bribe him into going in his classroom and he wouldn’t even look at the teacher. Tomorrow is the first day of school so that should be interesting. He keeps telling me he’s not excited for tomorrow and he’s nervous Randoms doesn’t want to go. I’m sure I’ll be that parent leaving a crying child in the classroom. Should be fun.
@c1kc1kpol1cn1k kind of a “first day”: DD moved up to the next classroom in daycare today, and I was already pretty emotional but then started crying when her old teacher said how much they would miss her.
@c1kc1kpol1cn1k - I did! My oldest started 3rd grade, and my second started kindergarten. Both had small down times, but otherwise good days! Now we are awake for day 2, trying to get ready on time. How did your kid do?
@kbrown2385 good luck today with DS at his first day, hopefully it goes better than you think!
@MollySm she did really well! We had a two day orientation period, last week and now yesterday was the real deal. She was just really tired when she got home and pretty hungry haha so we need to get back to a better post-summer sleep routine
@EmilyE13 totally get it, I was crying when DD left daycare since she loved and I loved her teachers actually!
