I don't think we'll get a formal babymoon, but I think we'll get to go to St. Pete, FL with my dad and step-mom this winter. They have a condo on the bay there, so it makes for a relatively inexpensive warm-weather vaca. We did it last Februrary with DS, and it was a ton of fun. They're great for watching DS as much as we'll let them so that we can have some date nights and alone time. I'm guessing we'll go in Dec or January because the idea of traveling late in 3rd tri sounds awful lol.
We are currently down to Key West or Disney.... If we get to Disney before Nov 19 it will still be Food & Wine Fest - so I'd be all about the food part of that trip haha
@chichiphin I'm partial to Key West and the FL Keys in general! I've been there 4+ times and just love the vibe. I'm not a Disney fan.... but then you said Food & Wine Fest and that changes everything LOL.
@stassischroeder MH and I are disney people... but not like, "disney artifacts in our home" kind of disney people. we are in the vacation club though. it would def be the cheaper of two options because of points, and I'm leaning towards it because I'll never get an adults-only disney trip again after this lol
We are doing a no-kid trip for our 5 year anniversary in the end of September. Probably just a local B&B or something. We had planned to do a big trip out west but then baby!!
Then we are taking a big trip down to South America (Colombia) to visit SIL and her family to stay in an all-inclusive on the beach there with all the family for Christmas. This is the current plan, but I definitely want to talk to my OB because of all the Zika scares and everything. There haven’t been any cases in this particular region, but I’d rather be safe!
I have a plane phobia, which is very unfortunate bc traveling is one of my favorite things. I usually just get drunk and pass out on the plane or I stay sober and have panic attacks while crying—neither of these is healthy for the fetus so we will be skipping plane travel.
DS was a similar season baby (April) so we took the longest train ride ever (15 hours down and 18 to come back) to go someplace warm in Feb/March: Charleston, SC, and then Savannah, GA. The train was okay, but I can’t imagine doing that trip with a toddler.
Since we live in NJ, I think our only realistic babymoon option would be like a snowy cabin getaway in the NE in January or something. But my favorite part of winter trips are the hot tubs
I'll be surprised if we get to do anything. We've been trying to plan a trip since July, but with FIL's illness and finances, it's never come to fruition. We do have lots of travel miles we could cash in, so I'm going to look at our options. I'd love to go away during Christmas week, since we already have some time off and wouldn't have to use any of our precious PTO time for another vacation.
Same as @MrsVP614, I really want a babymoon but its probably not in the cards. My work offers no maternity leave beyond unpaid FMLA, and as far as we know, DH's company won't offer leave past whatever Vacay/Sick time he has. It makes me grumpy now because I really want to get away just us, but DH almost outright refuses to take any unnecessary time off before baby because he wants to spend as much time as possible at home with us after baby comes. I should be grateful that he's so committed to being there to support me in the newborn days... but I want a vacation dammit! I'm a full time student working towards my law degree as well as working full time, ON TOP OF being pregnant so I feel like I deserve it. But he's right and we should save our money and PTO. Womp womp
@hellobabys maybe you can do a weekend away? Or even just a Saturday night away?
It wasn’t a baby moon bc we did it after DS was born (we were moving when we initially planned on doing our baby moon due to some hiccups in the house buying process so we pushed back our babymoon) but we spent a night away with baby DS and went to an aquarium a few hours away and even though it was short it was a lot of fun! We’ll probably do the same trip when this baby is born bc we had so much fun before! We had a fun vacation this summer so I don’t think we’ll do any babymoon this time either. Hopefully we’ll get in a couple day trips with DS though!

Me: 33 | DH: 34 Married: October, 19, 2015 EDD 2/22/17 DS1 born on 3/2/17 EDD 3/8/20 DS2 born on 3/10/20 EDD 11/24/23 (Formerly Marriedhamstermom Feb ‘17)
We are headed out of town for a wedding kid-free this weekend! I wish I felt better (I threw up this morning and am exhausted) so I could really enjoy it. We were supposed to go to Hawaii as a whole family in February but that can’t happen now. Hoping we can move the trip to December or early January. Would like to do a weekend away with DH before baby but no plans yet.
It’s our 8 year wedding anniversary this fall so we’ll be doing a night or two away to celebrate that, and that’ll be our baby moon too. Just someplace driving distance. All I need a quiet meal out and a good night’s sleep plus some alone time with the hubs.
We're thinking of doing something warm over the Thanksgiving week since neither of our families really do TG anymore. Still not sure where. Looking for some beach time!!
We are headed to an all-inclusive resort next week, and I am so ready! We booked the trip, and then found out the next day we were expecting. That's our big (and way overdue) hurrah trip.
I'm hoping we can do a quiet weekend cabin trip closer - something within a few hours.
@chichiphin DH and I love Disney too! We live in CA so we had Disneyland passes for a couple years. REALLY wanted to go to DisneyWORLD together before having kids but it didn’t happen....we decided some more international adventures were more important to knock it (Thailand).
@miss.sally Zika is such a pain in the ass!! We had to wait 3 months after Thailand to start trying to conceive.
AFM... We actually really want to knock off New York from our bucket list before baby! Maybe spend 4-5 days over there, and catch a Broadway show (most likely Harry Potter & The Cursed Child #potterhead). But I’m a FTM so I’m not sure if that’s too much of a site seeing trip aka lots of walking for a pregnant woman? I was thinking of going around 20 weeks.
We went on a cruise for 5 days inthe end of June. We actually found out one of the last days about this little sweetie Due to vacation time, money, the fact that we just did a vacation without DD (it was to celebrate DH’s graduation) we probably won’t go away again. We talked about taking DD on that same cruise before baby, but realistically it probably won’t happen. Maybe we’ll do a weekend away somewhere either the 2 of us or the 3 of us sometime in January/February!
@mrsc918 I was still feeling pretty good/normal at 20 weeks. I say go for it! I was still running until 7 months with DS and I know women that ran up until delivery. I got uncomfortable towards the very end. But I think 20 weeks is a great time to keep active/
Definitely hoping to do some type of getaway as I think it's a great idea, but having a hard time justifying a trip with all the many expenses coming up. Probably will do something in driving distance to us in New England for a few days in the Fall.
Going away in 2 weeks on a fall foliage cruise. This vacation has been planned for a long time and will probably be the last one until after baby so we are going all out. I am hoping we can get in a long weekend trip in January for our 5th wedding anniversary but we have to see how things are financially since we are already trying to start saving up so I can be out 4 months when the LO arrives.
DH and I decided to do a Thanksgiving trip to Seattle to watch the Apple Cup (UW vs WSU football game). Originally we were thinking of a bigger trip but for the sake of saving money for our soon to be new life style we decided this would be best.
My partner and I finally talked about a babymoon last night. We do have a Chicago weekend coming up in October that will be a nice getaway. We have tickets to see the comedian Jim Gaffigan, and we're going to make a whole weekend out of it.
We also talked about getting away sometime in January when the holidays are over. His birthday is December 29 so it could be a birthday/baby celebration, lol. Just not sure at all where we would go.
@babyfox320 please tell me you are a husky and not a cougar. I went to grad school at UW, and undergrad at Boise State. We are UW fans through and through. We will hopefully be at the game since my in laws have season tickets-- just have to fight the brother in law for them!
I really would love NYC at Christmas but I think my husband and I will do a trip closer to home with less walking haha. Christmas is my absolute favorite and Tennessee has a lot of Christmas themed things to do in the winter! After almost 2 years of infertility I plan to do all the fun pregnancy things including a babymoon! Hopefully we can make it work
These all sound amazing! I definitely want a vacation or long weekend away before baby. I would love to do a bigger trip or an all-inclusive but we just bought a house and we are trying to save aggressively so I can take off 1.5 year parental leave that is now offered in Canada vs. the 1 year we get. The 1 year may leave EI benefits get stretched so I’m not sure if we can swing it yet but I’m determined to get as much time with the little one. But our dishwasher broke last night and out AC unit is being funny so 🤷🏻♀️ We will see
@mrsc918 I know it’s actually really amazing that we get to do this in Canada - not everyone can it’s obviously more of a challenge for those self-employed and mom’s who are in school. But it’s 50% of your pay for a max of $580/week or something like that for one year, 33% of pay for a max of $380/week of EI benefits of you do the 1.5 year. My employer tops me off for the first 6 months which is very rare to have such a good top off, but I guess that’s the benefit of being a public sector worker. I hope we can swing the 1.5 years, it will be a massive hit but I think the time will be worth it. I know a few people who work in the states and the 3 month mat leave is outstanding to me!
also i should note daycare in Toronto is absurd. It’s something stupid like $2500/month for infants and you are lucky to get a spot. I’m extremely fortunate to have my parents who live close and are excited to babysit while I’m at work like I was by my grandparents as a kid but shit, it’s hard to make ends meet in such an expensive city to begin with. A lot of people are taking the 1.5 years because it’s saves a lot of money to put an 18 month old in daycare vs. a 12 month old.
So babymoon is on hold 😂 we’ll probably do a lovely cottage in Ontario. Maybe a spa weekend in Tremblant, but as someone said here the hot tub (with wine!) is the best part of winter getaways so I’ll be sad to sit that out.
DH and I just booked a trip to Vegas at the end of November! We had some flight credits that were going to expire and my parents have a timeshare down there, so we booked it. We're staying 4 nights and it will be our first baby-free trip since DD was born.
@dunder_mifflin I am SO jealous of your maternity leave!! I get 12 weeks of UNPAID Family/Medical Leave from my job.... the US is so unfair with it's maternity rules.
We already had a Halloween Disney trip and a Christmas Disney trip planned before finding out we were pregnant. We are big Disney people, but it’s going to be so much more magical “bringing” our little one with us. I’d also love a shorter road trip in February (I’m turning 30 but I’ll be 36 weeks pregnant 😆😆) but I also told my husband I may want to stay at home and enjoy a quiet birthday
