Snacks

I’ve realized snacking more frequently on protein throughout the day helps with the all day nausea.  I browsed through the posts and didn’t see one, so I figured we could share what we’ve been snacking on?

so far my go tos have been:
cheese and crackers
hard boiled eggs
Yogurt parfaits

what are your fav snacks? 😋

Re: Snacks

  • Cheese and crackers, hummus with cucumbers, and carrots with peanut butter. I too have found that the nausea stays constricted if I eat every few hours and drink ginger tea!
  • Loading the player...
  • Hummus on a piece of toast. Occasionally I’ll add cheese. Also not protein but I could eat watermelon all day.
  • I have trail mix with dark chocolate almonds pistachios and raisins. I also have guac and toast which really fills me up as well. I'll also have a banana or a mini muffin if i want something sweet.
  • I'm also a cheese and crackers kind of gal, I throw them into the microwave so the cheese melts on the crackers. It is amazing! Baking is a weakness of mine so any baked good is not safe at my house.
  • Cheese crackers
    Hummus and crackers
    Nuts
    BabyFruit Ticker
  • Nuts and fruit primarily right now.

  • Full fat yogurt, nuts, cheese... the fat+protein helps me with the nausea. And lots of fruit!
  • @Sailing_Mama I'm liking the fruits and nuts as well. I have some yogurt everyday as well. Today i had a boiled egg and the yolk tasted so good lol

Anyone who's not used to drinking milk, having it during pregnancy? did it cause stomach issues (like bloating?) Would it be advisable to have milk so that the baby isn't intolerant later? Not sure if it even works that way, but thought i'd check.
  • @sanpelligrino I’m not at all a milk drinker, but I’ve been craving a big glass of milk almost daily! I have noticed I’ve been slightly more bloated, but not bad.
  • @sanpelligrino I haven't drank cows milk in almost 5 years. When I was pregnant with DS I decided to try some because my heartburn was soooo bad. It was disgusting and I didn't try it again. So far no issues with DS with cow milk, although we're planning on switching him to a nut milk in a year or so anyways.

  • @mflowers929 and @ejoseph16 thank you ! its been several years since I drank milk, and DH seems to think the baby will be allergic or intolerant if I don’t drink it during pregnancy. I’m having nut milk everyday and would struggle to have regular milk. Another reason I don’t have it because of my endo. I used to limit all dairy to minimize inflammation.
  • @sanpelligrino I don’t think that would be true. I know people who had lots of dairy and their kids turned out to be lactose intolerant anyways. I know some people that have had to cut all dairy out of their diet while BF due to babe being intolerant.

I used to be a huge dairy lover (lots of milk and cheese) and within the last year have majorly cut back due to my endo and ethical reasons. I also believe cows milk is for baby cows and people are intolerant for a reason. Not to long ago I had cows milk in a latte and felt awful after! (I had never been intolerant or anything before).

Im still unsure if I’ll give my baby cows milk at all. I hope I can BF for atleast a year and then maybe transition the baby right to a plant based milk?
  • @kath1414 you're actually correct that the majority of people aren't able to process lactose after about age 4.
The only reason we give DS cows milk is because our home nurse told us that they need the fat until at least 2 years. We still breastfeed a couple of times a day and he'll have about a cup of cow's milk a day.

  • Thank you @kath1414 and @mflowers929 You have eased my mind ! I'm going to continue with my nut milk for now, until I absolutely crave regular milk (which i dont see happening). I'm happier this way.
