Upcoming Appointments: pelvic physiotherapy today and that's it until the midwife on the 10th
How are you feeling?: good! Slight bought of heartburn. Hips hurt less the more active I am so that's a plus
Rants/Raves: I started full on nesting this weekend. Cleaning out all of DDs old clothes, switching summer clothes to fall/winter clothes, creating space for DDs new room, clearing out our mudroom hahaha. I still have a ton to do but it felt good doing all this organizing. Rave: DD starts preschool next week and they sent out a letter that has such a strict pick up/ drop off schedule where they do the drive up, teacher greets and helps the kid get out and join the play yard. Ok that's fine but there better be some leniency for the first couple weeks. I'm not having my DD being taken by total strangers when she just start's school at a new place. I'm going to send an email to clarify.
Questions: anyone buy any major baby equipment purchases yet? We're still waiting to do the car seat
GTKY: what is the most awkward / embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you (but funny!)
Ok I love this story, there is nothing more awkward and funny than this that has happened to me. This was first year University, and I was walking back to my residence after class in a very high traffic area. I was wearing flip flops and the front got caught on the curb and I was literally sent airborne, and I mean parallel to the ground airborne. The only thing I could do was grab something in front of me. Which was unfortunately another girl walking with her backpack. I bear hug the backpack to slow my fall where the girl turns around in complete shock and tries to shake me off..but I'm holding on! and she is walking away trying to shake me off and my body is being essentially dragged on the floor, like toes down dragged hahahahah. My final resting position was hands stretched out face on the floor and legs behind me HAHAHH. Meanwhile everyone around is just going about their lives but also in shock and I'm thinking how do I even stand up after this, and why was no one I know there to enjoy this amazing moment. I stood up and laughed so hard, I will never forget the look on that girls face when she turned around and out of now here saw me hanging off of her backpack.
How are you feeling?: good had a minor case of heartburn for the first time last night. Tums worked.
Rants/Raves: baby is moving so much and his kicks are getting stronger. DH and my mom felt a few the other day.
Questions: for any stm, how long did you last at work before taking maternity leave?
GTKY: what is the most awkward / embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you (but funny!) St Patrick's day a few years ago, I was way too drunk to be out anywhere and went for mcdonalds with my friends. I projectile vomited while sitting at one of their tables and ran away alone back to my residence crying "everyone knows it was me!". The next day, I met my new landlord who was in the mcdonalds when it happened. He knew it was me. (Side note: I have never done anything like that again and I still feel disgusting for leaving an employee to clean it up)
Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Just found out today we're team BLUE for the second time!
Baby is the size of a(n): Banana
Upcoming Appointments: First appointment with new provider on 9/12
How are you feeling?: Ecstatic! We were all hoping for a girl, but I so excited that we know what it is now. We'll break the news of a baby brother to DS tonight and see how that goes. He told me this morning he wanted a baby sister, but I don't think he has any idea what that means
Rants/Raves: See above!
Questions:
GTKY: what is the most awkward / embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you (but funny!) I can't think of anything right now. Will update if I think of something
Upcoming Appointments: right now - endocrine. Currently sitting waiting to be seen. First time ive had a minute to actually write here since last weekend.
How are you feeling?: generally, pretty good. Tired & massive but those are things I can cope with
Rants/Raves: dd woke up at 1:30am this morning claiming she needed to pee - what ensued was a 2 hour stand off as she didnt want go back into her own bed & wanted to get in with us. So I am shattered today. Yesterday was a public holiday here, so a day off & this afternoons appointment means only 2.5 days at work & ordinarily that would be great but I have too much to get done & 2 site visits & 3 meetings mean no proper work being done this week & extra pressure for next week. We did have a lovely long weekend though (despite having my mil, bil & sil all stay sat night).
Questions: nothing right now.
GTKY: what is the most awkward / embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you (but funny!) its more dh than me but for our first proper date, dh took me to a super fancy restaurant. The side dishes came out in these fancy copper mini saucepans. One was dauphinoise potatoes, the other was cauliflower. Dh took all the potatoes, leaving me with only cauliflower. I was a bit pissed until I figured he thought they were both potatoes. He was painfully shy & i didnt actually tell him until maybe a year or 2 later incase it scared him off! When I did tell him, he was mortified. There would be no such holding back now! 😂
How are you feeling?: ok, still worried that I was feeling the baby and then not as much.
Rants/Raves: I actually invested in maternity clothes. What a difference it makes to have clothes that fit!
Questions: I lasted at work until my due date last time, but they kept trying to get me to leave earlier because the work is intense. I wanted to stay as long as possible because my leave was unpaid.
GTKY: what is the most awkward / embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you (but funny!) Just last week I peed myself on duty having a sneezing fit. It was at the end of the day so I just hid in my room until it was time to go. It was actually not funny, but my dd, who is potty learning thought it was that mommy had an accident too. Now she asks me at the end of the day "Did you have an accident?" "What's wrong?" in this overly sympathetic voice.
@alicia__e I took 2 weeks before the due date off. DD came a week early so I really only had a week to relax and get ready. This time I think I will work until 16 of dec since that week before Christmas is slow, we have a massive office party that Friday I'll go to then we have a 1 week closure between Christmas and new years's. We'll see what actually happens though
@alicia__e Something you should consider about when to take leave is how much your coworkers will be bugging you asking if you have are going into labor or not. I am sure there are some workplaces where this might not be an issue, but since I work with a bunch of people and the public it was actually a big source of stress. My dd came almost 2 weeks after her due date and it was not until my husband and I totally isolated ourselves that she did come. This time around I am refusing to answer the due date question and am intentionally vague about it.
@alicia__e - DD was due 29th Jan & i finished up christmas week & took some leave added on to that so my leave officially started on 9th Jan. She came on the 16th but i still had enough time off before hand. This time round, when i thought it was a single, i was intending to finish up at christmas aswell. But now that it's twins & they will probably deliver christmas week, im thinking finishing up end of november, which still gives me a few weeks to get myself organised beforehand all being well. That being said, im just going to take it as it come and there is room for changing that and finishing earlier depending on how massive and uncomfortable i am.
Upcoming Appointments: just had a/s, nothing until the 16th. Coincidentally I have therapy that morning too so holy self care lol
How are you feeling?: honestly great! school started back up for my elementary aged kids and pre-k starts Tuesday for my girl, I feel like I have all my energy back
Rants/Raves: first time having an anterior placenta, fetal movement definitely feels less than my prior pregnancies but then I’ll randomly get a big kick when I bend over. It literally shocks me bc I’m not expecting it
Questions: favorite place to buy baby clothes without sayings on them? I got a bunch of cute stuff from H&M but didn’t know if anyone else knew of any cute shops.
To answer others - we bought a car seat and a mamaroo; hoping to receive a snuggle me organic as a gift and then we’ll purchase a DUA basket as baby won’t be in a crib for at least 3-4 months
GTKY: what is the most awkward / embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you (but funny!): ok so just last year I was running errands with all three kids, we survived the Walmart craze and I pull the cart up to “my van” and open the trunk, suddenly I’m staring at a family a people who looked so confused and startled. I immediately realize that no, my bumper magnet did not fall off - this is not my vehicle!! I apologized profusely (SO AWKWARD) closed their trunk and realized that my grey odyssey was parked right next to them. I was so embarrassed but also thought it was hilarious that what are the chances that I would open the wrong van and that there would be people sitting it it?! My kids still remind me to “make sure you pick the right car mom” when we leave Walmart lol
Baby is the size of a(n): um I'm not sure what that thing was on my app 🤷♀️ yesterday he was the size of a box of dryer sheets lol
Upcoming Appointments: had one last week that literally lasted 5 minutes... Dr asked "you feeling him move? You feeling ok? Any questions? Great. Your anatomy scan looked good!" And we were done. Next is September 17th
How are you feeling?: Heartburn is SO annoying. Literally all day long. Other than that, just big already. 😫
Rants/Raves: Tons of heartburn but tons of movement from him.
Questions: anyone else dealing with middle of the night leg cramps? They're not Charlie horse bad yet, but they feel like right before it turns into a Charlie horse.
GTKY: what is the most awkward / embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you (but funny!) Ha well idk if this is most embarrassing, but today my husband was forwarded a dirty video from an idiot friend and he accidentally forwarded it to a group message with my parents &sisters. He's completely mortified and I am a little too! Definitely awkward!
Rants/Raves: So, for my 8 week ultrasound they scheduled the ultrasound and OB appt at the same time. For the 20 week, the clinic called the hospital to schedule the ultrasound for me and I didn't know (no one told me.... FTM here!) that I was supposed to schedule an appointment separately. Monday we had the anatomy scan, Tuesday someone from the office called (definitely not a Dr.) and first tells me I was supposed to have an appt and I need to schedule one for sometime this week and also there was some "abnormal light tissue in baby's right upper quadrant" and "it may be benign, may require additional testing". But she couldn't answer any of my questions because she wasn't a doctor. Is this a normal thing that happens?! I'm trying not to freak out about it but the woman on the phone seemed so scattered it was not reassuring. It also seems like an inappropriate phone conversation, just tell me to make an appointment and let the doctor deal with it. Yesterday was our first wedding anniversary and now my husband is out of town for work so it's been a lot this week.
Questions: nothing specific
GTKY: what is the most awkward / embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you (but funny!) When DH and I were a couple months into dating we met up with a bunch of his friends at a bar/restaurant. We were in a somewhat separate area that was up just 1 step. I was nervous about meeting everyone, wearing heels, had a couple drinks and when I went to go to the bathroom I walked right off that step and fell on my face! As I'm going down I heard one of his friends say "there's a step there". I really contemplated if I could live out the rest of my days in that bathroom, but I did eventually come back out... And no one has ever mentioned it again.
@c1kc1kpol1cn1k we haven't done any major purchases yet. The carseat we have expires in October, but we need new bases. Or big purchase will be a stroller.
@alicia__e With my job, massage therapist, and the fact that I was on my feet all day I ended about a month before my due date. Because Prenatal Massage is one of my specialties, and I tend to get a lot of them, most people that sit for a living will try and work from home or work until they give birth. It truly depends on your job. This time I will reduce hours and try and work till then end of December.
@brimarie91 I am sorry that this is happening to you. I understand being stressed with bad news about the baby. And no, at least in Maryland, it isn't normal for a nurse to call to give you this kind of information. Most of the time when they have news like this they call to have you come in and speak with a Doctor that, may or may not, be able to answer more questions. I would say make sure you write down all of your questions when you go into your next appointment to ask. If you don't have one soon I would call and make an appointment to understand what the results mean and if you do need more testing.

Baby is the size of a(n): Pint of Beer
Upcoming Appointments: Just had an OB appointment yesterday, have another in 2 weeks and another Anatomy Scan (couldn't get all the pictures the first time) in 3 weeks.
How are you feeling?: Fine. Keeping busy or trying. Heartburn has gotten worse and feeling more movement, but it still isn't constant.
Rants/Raves: I am planning on taking my DD to Disney on Monday, but with the weather we don't know if we will be able to go. If the flight gets cancelled so will the trip, so we are hoping for the best. There is where I was planning on taking the pictures to announce baby 2
Questions: Still none
GTKY: what is the most awkward / embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you (but funny!) So with what I do I have asked many moms if the father is excited about the pregnancy and more then once I have put my foot in my mouth and have been told that their wife/partner is very excited. Now that I have done it about 5 times I have changed my language or waited for a hint before I ask that question.
@chelscreates thank you! Quick update: I had an OB appt today and baby is totally fine! The person who called me was a triage nurse and she literally just read the notes from the ultrasound to me which of course didn't make any sense to me. Both the OB and her nurse were rather unhappy with the way the call went and said they'd have some "feedback" for her. They did recommend a level 2 ultrasound because there's a tiny... Something.. in the area of baby's kidney's that they said could be fluid, a cyst or absolutely nothing. They just want a closer look. The OB said there was absolutely nothing anywhere that should have caused the triage nurse to use the word "abnormal".
@c1kc1kpol1cn1k we haven't bought anything yet but have all the big stuff (crib, car seat, stroller, etc) picked out. Now that we know the gender we can pick out the smaller stuff. Since this is our first though I probably won't actually buy anything til after the shower and then use the registry completion discounts to get the rest.
