Pregnant after IF

Twin hCG levels after IVF

Hi all! Pregnant for the second time through IVF. Had a son via IVF in 2017. We have had three blood tests since our 5 day frozen transfer, and my numbers are much higher than they were with our son. We transferred two and just wondering if we might be pregnant with twins. Here are my levels..

Beta (15dpo) - 484

HCG #2 (17dpo)- 1550

HCG #3 (22dpo)- 11860

What were yours with twins??

Re: Twin hCG levels after IVF

  • Mine were lower than yours when I was pregnant with twins. We lost one at 8 weeks, even after a strong HB at 6.5weeks. It’s extremely common to have an early twin loss with IVF.
    Me: 39 SO: 36

Dx: low progesterone, possible DOR - officially "unexplained"

  • Mine were comparable but like @PoeMasque one of the twins stopped growing at 8 weeks (even after a strong first HB). Vanishing twins are extremely common in IVF, especially when you transfer multiple untested embryos (I transferred 2 as well). So it could very well be a twin pregnancy but my doctor cautions that this early, 30-40 percent of twin pregnancies turn into singleton pregnancies.

  • Concur with PPs. I had similar numbers, strong, fast rising, and tripling. but then one stopped developing sometime between 8-9 weeks.
  • Unlike the others my numbers were “normal” after we transferred two embryos, definitely didn’t flag me as twins. We were shocked to learn both stuck but we also lost one around 9 weeks after hearing strong heartbeats.
  • Same here. My beta was over 600 14dpo and over 1500 16dpo. But sadly we ended up loosing one.

We only transferred one and it is a singleton. 18 weeks today! The numbers can be deceiving.
