  • Thank you for this thread. I made a post on facebook this week asking my friends for their advice and half of it was "raid your friend's closets." Which doesn't work because none of my friends have gotten pregnant yet... So that was a bust. I am thinking about looking at second hand shops, but I do need to go bra shopping.

@marebear15 aerie has bras on sale for like $17.50 or something. IDK if you have already shucked out the money but $17.50 is better than $30!

  • @marebear15 here’s your therapy for today 🤣.

@amb0924 good to know pink blush worked
out for you! I have to bite the bullet and just order a dress for my sisters wedding in October. Did you find sizing to be good?

  • @kbrown2385 What was nice is I ordered two sizes because I measured between sizes in their plus size size chart, so I got two different sizes. They fit about how I expected them to and was easily able to return the one that was too big. If they have another sale I may order maternity clothes for fall, so I'll keep you posted =)
  • @stashattack - Motherhood has nursing bras with underwires. So I'm trying to get bang for my buck and at least get to use it for a year after birth. That's something I regret about my last 13 months of nursing. I never got a nice nursing bra, just those soft ones, and I had the whole droopy uni-boob going on. This time, after my supply regulates around 6-12 weeks, I'm going to wear a bra that actually does something!
  • @kbrown2385 - A little more therapy for me. I have to wear skirts/dresses at work, and I've been looking for a tan/brown/gray skirt that works with my navy tops forever! I actually bought 3 skirts online and spending over $100 before getting one that finally fit me. I'm so mad that Old Navy doesn't have anything in store any more!
  • @marebear15 I feel the same way for maternity clothes. I hate shopping and trying to find things. I buy as free things as possible and try to find things I can use for multiple seasons. So tank tops are a great option, because you can wear just the tank top in summer at home, put on a cardigan for work, and wear warmer cardigans for winter. Best part is that the cardigans you already own can likely still get used.

I bought a few dresses that I can wear when I'm not pregnant too. But the clothes aren't very well made at all and have pilled from buying them the first pregnancy and lending them to a friend for her pregnancy. Not much life left at this point.
  • I wear a lot of skater style dresses for work & they mostly got me through my last pregnancy. I did get a few bits from jojo maman bebe which were not ridiculously priced but decent quality. I ordered a load of stuff from asos but sent most of it back as it was shit quality & badly fitting. I kept one top & one dress from asos, I love the top, its so comfortable & flattering & im going to order it again in what ever colours I can get it.
But like others, I refuse to spend big on clothes that im not going to get much wear out of.
  • @marebear15 I’m not happy about old navy either! Pretty much everything I had when I was pregnant with ds was from there. Of course I got rid of it all amidst one of my “we aren’t trying anymore” phases 🤦🏻‍♀️.

@EmilyE13 yes!! Idk how people spend that kind of money! Give me target maternity tops for like
    $10 all day.
  • Speaking of cheap maternity clothes, H&M has a maternity sale right now:

  • @marebear15 amen! haha

The only thing I would say is to invest in a maternity bra. I got mine that was originally $60 on sale for $12.  It is a must for me to have a bra I can sleep in since it get's so uncomfortable without.

Also H&M has those maternity tank packs / maternity bra packs that are just for around home etc. I found that super helpful

With DD I had a summer pregnancy so no maternity clothes at all, just maxi dresses. I'm actually a bit concerned that I have to wear pants and even closed to shoes near the end of this pregnancy. What are your guys plans for that?  My feet were so swollen last time it was a joke.

  • @c1kc1kpol1cn1k knock off uggs are my plan for shoes LOL.

@c1kc1kpol1cn1k my previous pregnancy was a similar timeframe & uggs were the only thing that fit my feet for the last month. Im currently eying up a pair of doc marten chelsea boots which seem to be a wide fit so if I get those hopefully they will do me too to be a little smarter.

  • My plug for a maternity/nursing bra is the one I just bought from Kindred Bravely. It's so comfortable, and it is wire-free (which I prefer) but does not give me uniboob, and also the pads don't fall out in the wash (I hate that! Why!?) They have a lot of sales and discount codes so no need to pay full price. I'll probably grab another one soon.
  • @Xstatic3333 I was curious about kindred bravely. I got some nursing bras from motherhood and I like them but I need a few more. My boobs grew quickly and none ofy regular bras fit anymore!

I also hate shopping and shelling out money but I feel so much more comfortable in my maternity clothes and I had to find things I could teach class five days a week in. I got some dress pants and nice tops at motherhood so I hope I'm good to go. I made my mom go with me since I hate shopping and needed moral support. I only had to go in one shop. I tried on a bunch of things and the amount of money wasn't terrible at the end since they were having a sale. It definitely is a necessary evil.
  • I second @Xstatic3333 on really liking the kindred bravely bras. They hold up great and are very comfortable.
  • There’s some good Facebook sites to sell, swap, trade or buy maternity clothes. I got three pairs of jeans for $30, which is a pretty good deal (:
