Trying to Get Pregnant

TWW Monday 8/19

**This is a thread that welcomes all regardless of where they are at in their TTC journeys. Please be mindful of topics that are discussed that could be hurtful to those going through tough times. Mention of children or pregnancies of others should have a TW (trigger warning) and be in a spoiler if possible, and only be mentioned if it is extremely pertinent to the conversation. Thanks for keeping this a safe place for us all to engage!**

Re: TWW Monday 8/19

  • *lurking* @ttcbabyodo is because you’re a bog monster? 😂 but in all seriousness, hope your day improves. I hate the days I wake up on the wrong side of the bed and DH doesn’t understand the concept of just being in a bad mood for no reason.

  • Yes, absolutely because I am a bog monster, lol. I would very much like to return to the bog instead of be stuck at work all the livelong day.

@shamrocandroll so many creepy internet hugs. Seriously. You are basically a saint for all of that. I would not have been nearly so nice. Also, that guy would have scared the $hit out of me too. This is why I'm contemplating carrying pepper spray now.

  • @mvt2003 @ttcbabyodo I thought I wouldn't have to worry about these things after moving out of Boston and to the middle of nowhere.  But apparently creeps are everywhere.  Ugh.  I hate that we have to worry about these things as women.  Guarantee my husband has never feared for his safety while walking by himself.  He made fun of me for being too scared to go on hikes alone (well, with the dog), but I think this story helped him realize that we live in different worlds sometimes!

  • @shamrocandroll Hugs to you, friend  <3 How you remained so calm is beyond me. This is precisely why I have only told 2 people we’re trying. I don’t want to hear people’s “helpful advice.” Some people will just never get it. I can understand ignorance.. but C’MON!! You would never tell someone with cancer that maybe if they just relaxed, their cancer would go away.. So sorry you had to deal with that.

Really tired from my visit to my yearly physical at my GP. I had to have a big blood draw, which I hate! I guess I'm lucky I didn't faint.
Rave: Not really anything to rave about, but I'm glad my GP trusts me and is sending me back to physical therapy for my current neck issues (this is a normal thing for me as I have chronic pain/muscle spasms/hypermobility/fibromyalgia).

CS/Q: I had some light cramping off and on through Saturday and Sunday. I'm not feeling pregnant AT ALL right now. My right boob is sore (my usual start of PMS/PMDD) . So probably on track for AF at the end of next weekend

@shamrocandroll - ugh how scary! If I'm out that early in the morning when it's still kind of dark, I just don't want to see anyone unplanned, even if there aren't reports about a pervert, let alone if there are! Good that you got some pepper spray even just to feel safer. So sorry about your mom's comments! I panic when I think of being in that situation, trying to think of how to respond. Why can't people at least learn to say "Do you want advice or do you want me to shut up and we can talk about something else" before just doling out their ideas about sensitive topics? It's so sweet that your dad went and did research so he'd know about the reality of MC's. <3
  • @ttcbabyodo Is it possible to wake up on the right side of Monday? If so, I'd like to know how! :P Sorry you are feeling off today!

    @b_1029 *dying* LOLLLL, bog monster.

@misshelen86 Oh man! What a bittersweet weekend. *hugs* I hope the margaritas helped!

@shamrocandroll *hugs you so hard* It is going to be okay no matter what happens this weekend! We are here for you! And OMG, are you in CT? My friend is also worried about hiking in her area for that reason! She usually hikes solo or with her kids, so she is terrified!

Also, WTF about the "stop trying so hard"!!!? I've been given that advice by a friend already, and it really gets under my skin. T_T We love you, and we've got your back!

  • @whitealbum29 Hahaha, sooooo about a month back, we were walking over the bridge across the lake chatting, and all of a sudden I heard a cheerful "Hello!" RIGHT behind me, and I literally jumped and screamed.  Turned out it was a (very quiet) runner coming up behind us.  My friend had seen him coming, but didn't warn me.  So I guess I need to look behind me more regularly on walks.

@flowntheloop You are too sweet.  Thank you.  I'm in rural NH, so this is definitely not something we generally expect around here!  I called the police department on lunch today and they told me all reports have been of "exhibitionists" flashing people and no physical danger, so I guess that's... good?  But still unnerving.

  • @shamrocandroll Yes. I'm not a people person at all (why I live in the woods now haha). Some of those busy summer days made it difficult to travel at all by car (was quicker to walk than drive).

I prefer lakes as well, but walking on the beach on snowy winter days was unforgettable! I guess I miss parts of New England in general. Less of the city parts...more of the woodsy parts. The food was also pretty delicious!

  • @flowntheloop For critters that we've seen/heard in our woods/yard:  a bald eagle pair (who have had 3 eaglets in the last 3 years), black bears, bobcats, fisher cats, fox, coyotes, a HUGE barred owl, more deer than you can shake a stick at, and we have moose locally, though we've never seen one on our property.  Plus all the usual rodents too.  As far as fungi go, I couldn't tell you personally because it's no an area of expertise, but I have friends who go shrooming regularly around here and know you can get some good stuff if you know what's not poison.  Plants are mostly your standard northern New England variety and I am also not an expert in them.  I have a bit of a black thumb, and I tend to like the more wildflower natural look over up-kept gardens.  That's my story I'm going with, anyway.  :)

  • @mvt2003 I didn't check to see if I have rules for that here, but when I called the PD to see if they have any additional info, she suggested it as an option, so I'll assume it's okay, I guess?  I do know I'm not allowed to carry it at work, but should be okay for my walks.

  • @mvt2003 Haha, it wasn't illegal in the state, but it was illegal for a college student to carry it on campus.  So instead we all walked with our dorm keys grasped tightly between our knuckles.  Back in the days when you got an actual key for your dorm.  Because, you know, stabbing someone in the eye with a key was way less violent than temporarily blinding them with pepper spray.
