Lips turning blue/purple while in water

Hi everyone, I took my son to a water park yesterday and his lips turned slightly blue/purple as he was in the water for a longer time than he usually has ever been and the water was much colder than the water he has ever been in... the purple / blue lips went away once I warmed him up with a towel. I called and spoke with a nurse and she told me it’s nothing to be alarmed about and it’s due to the cold water. I have a doctors app booked for Monday on the safe side. Has anyone’s had the same situation happen with their little ones? Thanks

    So you don’t trust your doctor’s answer and thought you should ask internet strangers instead?
