  • Est Due Date/Weeks + Days: 12/1 23W1D

Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green:  Pink- Ellie is going to be a soccer player, I’m pretty sure 😉

Baby is the size of a(n):  Maltese puppy, or heavy as a can of soup?

Upcoming Appointments:  I’m done for a while- next bloodwork is in about 3 weeks for GD among other things, and my next OB/GYN isn’t for another 5 weeks!  Seems kind of far apart to me, but whatever, I’m just a crazy pregnant lady...

How are you feeling?:  Much better this week physically.  I think last week was a big physical shift (a baby growth spurt maybe) that encouraged my back to go out and just left me feeling really uncomfortable.  This week, emotions are surging, lots of weird crying for no great reason.  Also getting headaches...trying to stay hydrated to help with that.

    Rants/Raves:

Rant:  I had major pregnancy brain fog the other day- I screwed up on getting my daughter to her friends birthday party because I could swear the party went from 3 to 5, instead of 1 to 3!  Luckily, lots of people  stayed for an additional 3 hours, so I didn’t win the worst mom of the year crown...yet 😛

Rant 2:  Got back from that party to pick up DH and I noticed my phone screen cracked!  I have no idea how that happened.  Frustrating...

Rave:  We found a great little Hawaiian place near us- cheap (well, for our area) and really yummy!  I think we’ll be heading back there again soon!

Questions:  I’m thinking of going hospital grade pump this time, because last time my home pump did barely anything for me, and somebody on the bf board said hospital grade should help with that.  What’s the difference?

Should I be cautious driving (not flying) for travel in the last 4-5 weeks of pregnancy?  Nothing has been a major concern with my doctor yet.  I’m just wondering what our traveling freedom will be like in November.  At the most, we would probably visit Southern California, a 5 hour drive or so.

Also, any TTM+ with any experience of carrying to term?  Is it a trend with your kids, like the fact that I carried DD to 40W4D, should I carry DD#2 about as long?  Or do you have a higher chance of baby coming early since you’re more stretched out than you were the last time?

GTKY: Did you have a favorite teacher growing up and why?  My “favorite” teacher was probably my second singing teacher.  She was amazing, had attended really great schools, and had a very professional demeanor, so very respectful to her students.  She made me feel like somewhat of a professional 😊❤️

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Blue #2 😍

Baby is the size of a(n): Mr. Potato Head. What is up with these facts? Am I shopping at the wrong grocery bc a spaghetti squash is much larger than a Mr. Potato Head where I live.

Upcoming Appointments: 8/15 and then I go towards the end of the month for GD screening

How are you feeling?: Went to a pool party this weekend and although I stayed in the shade I got so swollen and had a headache. I was pretty much wiped by the time I got home. My energy level has definitely gone down and I seem to swell easier than I was before.

Rants/Raves: I’m occasionally seeing this babe move from the outside now! So neat. He’s had some pretty strong punches this weekend that literally made me jump. He’s busy in there!

Questions: Has anyone else experienced “leaking” breasts yet? I noticed the other day before showering that there’s definitely some action happening on my nips. I didn’t have this until later on in my pregnancy with DS.

GTKY: Did you have a favorite teacher growing up and why? I can’t say I had one true favorite so I’ll go with a disliked teacher. Second grade I had an older teacher and she was so mean. We had reading time every day and she would sometimes read to the class as a whole vs us reading individually at our desks. This woman would pick 2 students each time to massage her shoulders 😳 One student per side. She had a very short haircut and her neck had lots of moles and she would yell at us for pulling at them while trying to rub her shoulders. It was so gross, creepy, and I’m sure against some sort of law.

  • @cpk3535 I feel your pain on the pool party! Not only was I miserable at mine but I also confused the times 😣 My MIL set me straight so I wasn’t late but that’s so unlike me.

I also want to know the difference in pump strength. My doctor told me the hospital provides a Medela. I didn’t want that brand due to the open system and online it’s listed at hospital grade. The pump I chose was also listed as hospital grade so I’m hoping I made a good decision.

Baby is the size of a(n): Mr. Potato Head 😆

Upcoming Appointments: Aug. 22 for glucose screen and 24wk OB

How are you feeling?:  Mostly good, but I have a bad cold.  I've definitely noticed that my immune system seems to be struggling a bit during pregnancy.

Rants/Raves:  I took a breastfeeding class tonight and found it super informative. And my pump arrived today!

Questions: Anyone else having nightmares?  I don't feel anxious when I'm awake, but I've been having vivid bad dreams several nights a week, which isn't typical for me.

GTKY: Did you have a favorite teacher growing up and why?  I remember my first grade teacher for being really warm, kind and genuine.  I was really shy and she helped bring me out of my shell a bit.  Now that I'm a teacher, I try to emulate her in showing my students that I care about them and making them feel welcome in my classroom.

@k_mama91 haha, I’m so glad I’m not the only one with mommy brain going on.  The pool experience was crazy exhausting, and I didn’t even swim!!  I haven’t had any breast leakage yet, but I keep checking.  I don’t think I leaked last time either, though...  I keep expecting it, because my boobs are super swollen and sensitive.  I definitely feel more “broken in” this time, haha 😆
  • @blueskychicago12 I’ve had some vivid, tense dreams lately.  I’m not sure I’d categorize them as nightmares, but I’ve been very invested in them until I wake up, and then I usually discuss them with my husband or write something down.  I meditated tonight in yoga, so I’m hoping it calmed my head down a bit.  I’ll let you know!
  • @k_mama91yeah, I’ve been leaking since 18 weeks. I’m a FTM, so I am very, very not used to this, and I hate it. I thought it would start much later than it did.

@blueskychicago12 I’ve had dreams I would call stressful more than nightmares. I dreamt the other day that some woman was trying to drug me to cut out and steal my baby 😨

Baby is the size of a(n): handprint is size of a watch face

Upcoming Appointments: 8/12 with midwife and 8/14 for (hopefully) my last cervical length check

How are you feeling?: I feel pretty normal, just get hungry a lot and have to pee all the time! Exercise is getting harder, and I overheat pretty quickly. And pregnancy brain ugh 🧠 I feel like I don’t remember anything

Rants/Raves: I am so done with summer. I want it to be fall already. I want to wear all my fall outfits, eat all the fall foods, and for it to be crisp and cool outside. Maybe I’m just crazy though 🙈 I know people love summer, but I’m such a fall person.

    Questions:

GTKY: Did you have a favorite teacher growing up and why?

I had several teachers whom I loved dearly. First one that comes to mind was one of my high school history teachers. He was extremely empathetic and funny. I took a certain class senior year just to have him again. I was heartbroken when he died a few years ago 😢

  • @pennyandzooey I was so disgusted last time when I was waking up completely drenched postpartum. I know better this time, I’ll be getting a good soft bra for sleeping and using nursing pads 24/7 😂

Im gunna second what you said, I am SO over summer!! Kiddo is going back to school so I’m ready to buy some mums and pumpkins, wear jeans, and go to the craft festivals they have in the fall.
  • @k_mama91 yay another fall fan! Bring on the leaves and pumpkins 🎃 🍁

Speaking of pregnancy brain, I drove all the way to work (45 minutes away) without my wallet! Thankfully I didn’t get pulled over or I wouldn’t have had my license 🤦‍♀️ I swear I need to put my reminders in my phone for every little thing.
  • I’m so ready for fall to kick in. Even though we’re in California, fall feels more calm. Granted I’ve been sunburned at the pumpkin patch, it can be that hot still!  I’m already craving those pumpkin spice coffee drinks, and wanting to prep for the holidays!  Plus, my daughter and I both have our birthdays in the fall!  We also love Disneyland in the fall- it gets super cute decorations, and yummy fall themed treats 😋❤️

I was looking at some breast pump stuff- if my Medela Pump In Style didn’t do anything for me last time, should I just try a hand pump style?  Lots of people were saying that hand pumps actually help you to get more milk out in a shorter period of time.  My complaint with the Medela was that I had to crank the pressure up, and it didn’t have a stimulating effect, but more of a bruising effect.  It was also super loud, and not convenient for trying to discreetly pump anywhere.  I want to say the best I ever got was about 2 ounces of milk, and that might have even been switching back and forth between breasts.  Any thoughts on the hand pumps?
  • @cpk3535 Fall decorations are my favorite!! I’ve read good things about the Haaka (that’s probably spelled wrong) but it’s a suction type manual pump. I’m going to give it a try, if nothing else it’ll be handy for car rides.
  • @cpk3535 @k_mama91 also have heard good things about Haakaa from multiple friends.
  • @blueskychicago12 yes i’m having crazy intense dreams!! some nightmares and some just like stressed out.

@pennyandzooey @cpk3535 also getting excited for fall and the cooler weather... rain!!. And christmas time was in a movie last night and it got me really excited for the holidays with baby snuggles!!

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: 💕

Baby is the size of a(n): grapefruit

Upcoming Appointments: Monday 8/12 for a 24 week checkup

How are you feeling?: growing=achey!! back, tailbone, hip... ouch. i think sleeping on my side makes it worse. pilates and yoga help some... i’m gunna try swimming this week i think. i keep thinking, wowwww it’s gunna be a long 4 months as i get so much bigger. other than, that i’m doing ok. been pretty productive this week and started getting the baby registry together. we have guests this weekend then i can officially turn that room into the nursery 😊 very excited.

Rants/Raves: wow, doing the baby registry is a lot more work than i anticipated. i have lots of lists and recs from parent friends but there are just so many options for everything and it’s hard to know what we and the baby will like! glad i started it a month early.

Questions: which type of baby bottles do the STMs here prefer? i cant decide which starter pack to register for. My SIL recommended Dr. Browns but there are some other brands the internet highly recommended too! 🤷🏻‍♀️

GTKY: Did you have a favorite teacher growing up and why?

Yes, the drama teacher at my elementary school and was so inspiring, always encouraging us to be creative and also work hard.

  • @cpk3535 @k_mama91 I've heard good things about the Haaka too but never tried it. I did use the Phillips Avent manual pump occasionally and thought it worked reasonably well. Personally I thought my Spectra S2 was a little more effective, though much less portable.

@moonriver_and_me we used the Avent bottles because they fit on my pump. We didn't try a lot of different ones, though, since DS wasn't picky - just the ones we'd gotten samples of from registering places. He tolerated the Nuk but the flow seemed a little too fast for him with the newborn nipple.

@blueskychicago12 I've been having vivid dreams for while too, but nothing really scary yet. Mostly just bizarre or super sexual.

Baby is the size of a(n): grapefruit? Idk

Upcoming Appointments: today, then September 4

How are you feeling?: Sleepy, but I didn't have coffee today.

Rants/Raves: nothing really. Crazy week at work.

    Questions: none

GTKY: Did you have a favorite teacher growing up and why? I had a pretty cool 4th grade teacher who took us on a field trip to a landfill as part of an environment/recycling unit. Definitely a Magic School Bus moment when our bus was sitting in the middle of all the trash and machinery.

  • @moonriver_and_me With ds we did Dr. Browns and while I loved them they were a pain to clean. They come with the brush needed for the small crevices but when you’re washing multiple bottles a day it can be time consuming. I read good things about Avent and they’re two pieces so that’s what we’re doing this time.
