Upcoming Appointments: Friday for regular appointment and GTT
How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): Exhausted and irritable
Rants/Raves: My boss is OOO this week so I have a lot of free time which is good because I'm trying to finish up a project for some side work. I'm stuck on a couple parts though and this client isn't that understanding of that fact. Genealogy is not always a straight shot though.
Questions: Has anyone ordered their breast pump yet? Is it too soon?
GTKY: What accomplishment in your life are you most proud of? I'll have to come back to this. I honestly don't know right now.
@creamcheeseplease I haven’t ordered mine but will probably start looking into it this week/weekend.
EDD/Weeks + Days: Nov 4/ 27weeks
Baby is the size of a(n): cabbage
FTM/STM/TTM+: FTM
Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Blue
Upcoming Appointments: August 13
How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): feeling pretty good but huge
Rants/Raves: sorry I’ve been MIA recently I’ve been dealing with a lot of family stuff. We just found out my dad’s cancer came back and it’s now in his liver. He was supposed to start chemo last week but ended up with an infection that put him in the hospital, where he still is and now we don’t know when he’s going to be able to start the chemo which has been very stressful.
Questions: Anyone else see weeks of huge weight gain? I gained 3 lbs last week! (I know to keep an eye on it because pre-eclampsia can cause that)
GTKY: What accomplishment in your life are you most proud of? Probably would be finishing an Ironman triathlon. The only other time I’ve felt as much raw emotion, excitement, etc was when I qualified for the Boston marathon but that has been over shadowed by the fact that I ended up just missing the cut off time that year and not getting in.
@creamcheeseplease I think I ordered mine around this time last time. I'm going to use the same one, so I haven't thought about it this go around. I do feel like my insurance had a time frame on when you could though. Like after 28 or 32 weeks...
EDD/Weeks + Days: 11/6; 26+6
Baby is the size of a(n): Kale
FTM/STM/TTM+: STM
Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Blue
Upcoming Appointments: Doing my 1 hour glucose test now followed up with a regular check in. Next appointment is a regular check up in 3 weeks.
How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): Good, just tired and hot. The heat is killing me! Lately I've been craving sweets more than ever which is not good! I bought some grapes though to be a bit healthier in satisfying the sweet tooth.
Rants/Raves: Rave - we had a great weekend with our DD. We went to a baseball game on Friday evening and our nieces birthday party Saturday and as hot and tired as it made me, seeing her have so much fun made it worth it!
Questions: none right now
GTKY: What accomplishment in your life are you most proud of? Hmmm... I suddenly feel like I'm in a job interview and they just asked where I see myself in 10 years and I'm not prepared for the question Getting my MBA was definitely one of my proudest moments, but honestly nothing makes my heart swell more than seeing my daughter's personality emerge. I know I'm not responsible for it, but I'm proud to be her mom
@BNBT hahaha sorry for the interview-y question! I’m running out of ideas for GTKY each week lol Glad your daughter had such a fun time this weekend and good luck on your 1hr test
Upcoming Appointments: 8/20 for 28 week appt and GTT
How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): Pretty good other than the normal sleepiness that is coming back. And weirdly worried about pre-eclampsia because I have been having headaches and rib pain. I had a lot of headaches before pregnancy, but still. @kopp5988 I also seem to have gained a lot in the last week or so, but no swelling or anything. That's not helping my worry either.
Rants/Raves: It's finally moving week! So excited to get it over with so we can get settled and nested. haha.
Questions: Insight to the above pre-e worry would be appreciated. Oh, and about pumps...if I have a pump, will insurance supply new tubes, etc? OR where can I buy those things?
GTKY: What accomplishment in your life are you most proud of? Being my daughter's mother is pretty high up there, as well as traveling to Europe alone.
@creamcheeseplease i havent ordered mine yet. I seem to remember my insurance made me wait until 28 weeks last time, so I'm just not messing with it until then this time.
@kopp5988 yes to the weight gain! I've gained a total of 18 lbs already at 25.3 weeks. I cant remember what I'd gained at this point last time, but as a whole I gained 40lbs with my last pregnancy. I started out considered underweight by BMI standards both then and now and my doctors never said anything about it. But for some reason its stressing me out this time! I've gained like 7 lbs since my appt last month and I'm hoping my OB wont say anything about it at my appt tomorrow. After a week of vacation eating, I cant tell what is vacation gain and what is normal pregnancy gain at this point. 🤦♀️
@dani_0921 not sure if they will buy you new tubes if you aren't getting a new pump. Last time I wanted spare tubes so I just got them off amazon. You can probably call your insurance and ask about that though.
@kopp5988 I'm so sorry about your dad's cancer, that's so stressful and FX he can start his chemo soon. And, congrats on qualifying for Boston! You are speedy. The number of people trying to get in is crazy and I think its total BS about the ability to register first if you qualify with a faster time. All that being said I have never approached the qualifying time in any of my marathons, haha.
Upcoming Appointments: end of August for glucose test.
How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): I have been feeling pretty good except anytime I eat I feel like my entire belly is going to burst open and just explode everywhere.
Rants/Raves: we are going to drive up to my in-laws (5/6 hours away) and go to the state fair tomorrow. I can’t wait to eat some fair food and actually have help with the kids while at a fair. Last time I went solo. The kids did great but it’s still hard to make sure you don’t lose one of the kids when you have 3 that want to go in different directions.
Questions:
GTKY: What accomplishment in your life are you most proud of? Even though I don’t use it, I’m proud of my Masters degree. I got pregnant my senior year in HS and ended up taking my GED so I feel it is a huge accomplishment to have been a single mom and complete my edu with a Masters degree.
How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): overall good, but huge. I'm having some tailbone pain this morning and its quite literally a pain in my butt! LOL its made it impossible to to any of the things I'd had planned today. So I'm currently just laying down with a heating pad on my butt.
Rants/Raves:
Rant: this tailbone pain. Rave: I cant remember who it was who told me to just order the Primary rainbow heart pjs, but I did. I cant wait til they come!
Questions: None, I was going ask about weight gain, but someone beat me to it!
GTKY: What accomplishment in your life are you most proud of? Ooof this is a hard one. I would say trying to raise DS probably is. It's been one of the most trying things I've done, but I love watching him grow, change and learn. I just want to do my best to raise an amazing young man someday!
@creamcheeseplease I think you have to wait until 4 weeks from your due date to receive it but you could go ahead and order it. This was several years ago so it may have changed since then.
@kopp5988 I’m so sorry your dad’s cancer is back. That is very stressful. I hope that he gets the chemo soon and the medical comfort/ support he needs. Hugs!
@BNBT watching my children grow and develop their unique personalities has been one of my favorite things as a mom. Mine are all so different and sometimes when I look at them my heart literally swells with so much love. I also love seeing my kids playing together. They are each other’s best friend. I hope they stay this close when they become adults.
@dani_0921 when I ordered mine it was brand new and came with all the tubing. I just needed to buy the flanges and bottles/bags.
@kopp5988 No, I love the question. I'm loving seeing everyone's responses! I'm so sorry about your dad's cancer returning, I hope he can start his chemo soon!
@dani_0921 I'm glad you asked this because I've been meaning to order new flanges, tubes, etc and this is a great reminder to add it to my list of to-dos.
@emeraldcity1214 Have fun at the fair! Even though I just scarfed down lunch, the fasting from this morning still has me hungry and now all I want is fair food
@gumby22c The tailbone pain is crazy! I'm debating getting a donut for my desk chair for the days it hurts. Not sure if it would help, but it is so uncomfortable when you can't lay down to soothe it! Hopefully yours goes away soon!
Upcoming Appointments: Thursday for a quick check to make sure we are good for 2 week appts.
How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): Tired. All the time and I am so ready to eat all the sugar. I think largely because it is one of the few things that doesn't give me heartburn
Rants/Raves: Rant: Heartburn.
Questions: none
GTKY: What accomplishment in your life are you most proud of? Hmmm Passing the CPA test was probably the one I worked hardest for but I remember right when I was out of college I worked my butt off savings and lived SUPER far away from work so I could save a bunch a month. I remember hitting 10,000 in my savings account was probably my proudest moment that i felt. That being said, I bought a house the next month and got married shortly after so all that went away but seeing it in the bank for that brief moment was the best since i knew I did it all myself.
@creamcheeseplease & whoever else mentioned the pumps - Definitely look at your insurance. My first one I could order through anywhere and I got it before the baby but when I switched to my husband's insurance for my 2nd I had to go through my doctor AFTER the baby was born. (So Dumb) but there it is.
Also, I am not sure everyone knows to do this but just in case. Don't forget to let insurance know you are having a baby and will be wanting to add them to your insurance. Seems dumb because they obviously see you going through the OB process and everything but a different department handles the paperwork so check to make sure you have filled all that out. I am working on mine tonight.
@gumby22c yeah I was on vacation two weeks ago and only gained one pound but then last week gained 3 somehow, makes no sense to me!
@creamcheeseplease thanks fingers crossed he can get out of the hospital soon and get started. The year I qualified you had to beat the qualifier by around 3.5 minutes which is just crazy, but now they’ve cut 5 min off the qualifying time to cut down on the number who qualify but can’t get it.
@emeraldcity1214 thank you and I hope you have fun at the fair tomorrow!
@Dancer688 oh man I feel you the heartburn is real! And getting your savings account up like that is definitely an accomplishment to be proud of!
@creamcheeseplease I love when the boss is OOO!! @kopp5988 I am so deeply sorry about your dad! I can't imagine that worry and stress over someone you love, especially right now. Sending you hugs! @BNBT Yay - another MBA momma! It's definitely in my top favorite moments for me. @dani_0921 good luck with the move and the upcoming nesting @emeraldcity1214 I get the same feeling after eating! I keep telling my husband it feels like my skin is physically stretching and I have to lean back. @gumby22c ugh the tailbone pain is terrible! I can't seem to sit comfortably on anything. @Dancer688 yes to the savings account!
EDD/Weeks + Days: 26w+1d

Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: having a boy!
Upcoming Appointments: Aug 20th for a 28 week checkup - and Sept 13th for a growth ultrasound and check-up...I guess I've moved to every 2 weeks?? Honestly, I just show up when they tell me to show up.
How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): Feeling rotund! My tummy feels so stretched and I'm tired...otherwise, feeling good! In the shower today, I just kept thinking about how this was so much better than my first ~22 weeks of vomiting and nausea.
My OB recommended MH and I watch some live birth videos to start demystifying L&D...It was AN EXPERIENCE for sure. But I am feeling a bit more calm and more in control and am starting to understand what my preferences will be.
Rants/Raves: Rave: I passed my glucose screening test! I was so stressed about it so I'm happy to cross that off my list of anxieties. My urine culture came back negative...guess it's just the pressure that's making my bladder achy.
Questions: None at the moment, but I also had a huge spike in weight gain! I dropped about 10lbs during the first ~20 weeks until last month when I gained back a whopping 6 lbs! OB didn't seem concerned, but did tease me about it. He said I'd be fine gaining at that rate every month from here on out. Who knows!
GTKY: What accomplishment in your life are you most proud of? I'm a first generation college student so that always makes me happy and I got my MBA a few years ago so I'm proud of that too.
@mc0303 I have never heard of an OB telling you to watch birthing videos. With my first I don’t ever remember being fearful or anxious about the process. I was also naive and a clueless 17 year old. I’m glad watching them has helped you determine you likes and dislikes.
@kopp5988 I am so sorry about your dad. Dealing with parental health problems in the middle of going through this for the first time is really hard. Hugs to you.
EDD/Weeks + Days: 11/6 26+5
Baby is the size of a(n): one more day of kale...tomorrow lettuce. The foods aren't as fun as they used to be. 😂
FTM/STM/TTM+: First timer
Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Pink
Upcoming Appointments: This Friday for glucose test and ultrasound.
How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): Good, but like @emeraldcity1214 I get full really easily! At night especially...I have times when I wonder how in the world my stomach is going to get so much bigger still.
Rants/Raves: We did end up having a small baby shower over the weekend and it was fun to see people and get some cute things. Also my family gifted us with our crib and it will arrive tomorrow! Getting real!
Questions: None currently
GTKY: What accomplishment in your life are you most proud of? Maybe it's weird but getting my current job. After I finished grad school I worked as a counselor for about 9 years and it was great but it can really feel like a dead end. Then I worked as a clinical reviewer for a couple years and when my company restructured I had an opportunity to apply for management. I'm proud of how prepared I was and how I was able to prove myself and have them choose me over people that were managers and supervisors at the time and it feels good two years later to know that they feel good about choosing me and have continued to support me and give me opportunities.
How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): I’m not huge but I officially can’t bend over. It is so uncomfortable for more than 2 seconds.
Rants/Raves: v excited to be getting the nursery together. I did some serious item pricing today to find something wayfair was charging almost $300 for $83 on another site. Win!
Questions: none this week.
GTKY: What accomplishment in your life are you most proud of? I have a hard time being proud of myself or accepting anything as an accomplishment (Blame: Catholicism, immigrant parents) but there are days when I stop to reflect how different my life could be and that makes me proud of everything all at once. Short term pride moment: my company got bought a few years ago and I accidentally didn’t contribute to my 401k for 10 months when they rolled over to a new fund company(no, I didn’t notice the extra money in my paychecks) and finally think I caught up so yes, I know I’m dumb...but yay me!
How are you feeling? (Cravings/Symptoms): Much better! Took a hiatus as I was on my medical leave (depression) and just needed some time to myself. Now, I'm back to myself (ish) and even started work again.
Rants/Raves: Why is summer so hot lol glad we purchased a house with the bedrooms in the basement and a AC build in. I wouldn't be surviving this summer without it.
Questions: /
GTKY: What accomplishment in your life are you most proud of? Going to College, with a newborn on top of that. When I was pregnant with my daughter in Oct. 2015, I had already made plans for college. Even with the shocking news, I still went through it. My daughter was born July 2016 and went to College a few months later. I'm the first in my family (maternal side) to have a college diploma and I feel super accomplished.
@kopp5988 and @dani_0921 yes to the sporadic weight gain, and it happened in my first pregnancy as well so it can be perfectly normal! I’d go a week or two without gaining, then gain 4 in a week. You would know if you had preeclampsia as weight gain isn’t the main symptom, it’s high bp, right side torso pain, headaches that won’t quit, dizziness, spotty vision...but the high bp is the big one as well as protein in your urine at check ups. I get headaches pretty bad as well, but I’ve been taking my bp at least every other day and during my headaches it’s actually super low, I was surprised. I’m on watch for pre-e after having hypertension at the end of my son’s pregnancy and I’m terrified. My sil had it with her first and right before being diagnosed and induced she blew up like a balloon with swelling and then had spotty vision which prompted a visit where her bp was sky high. It helps my nerves to take my blood pressure often, my husband does it since he knows how being a medic, but you can get a machine for a decent price on Amazon!

GTKY: What accomplishment in your life are you most proud of? I’m proud of my masters of education degree, but more so the time I spent teaching after getting it.
