This is a check-in for those that were active in TTGP board before moving over here. Feel free to answer the questions or just make general conversation.
@brookert615 good luck telling work! I’ve been trying to get up the nerve to tell my boss. My youngest just turned one, so I’m expecting a few folks to side eye me, like, “seriously? She’s pregnant, again? And her fourth?? ”
@brookert615 what all goes on a tomato sandwich? The thought of it is making me crave a BLT!
What's going on this week? I have most of the week off since it’s my weekend to work. It was nice to have a little energy to mow my lawn, pick veggies from our small garden, and do some pickling!
How far along are you? 11w4d
Upcoming appointments? Midwife appt with US tomorrow! So excited. Then we will go public with an announcement.
Cravings/Symptoms? Pickles and lemonade! And I don’t normally like pickles all that much (though I love other pickled things). But right now anything pickled is making my mouth water.
Rants/Raves/Randoms? Nausea seems to be easing up! But I’m also super hungry ALL the time omg.
@brookert615 the humus and tomato cravings continue I see! At least I think it was you who was craving those before...
@daffodil_shoe what all do you grow in your garden? FX for your US and appt tomorrow!
What's going on this week? Not much just trying to get caught up with the housework I've been slacking on.
How far along are you? 9+4
Upcoming appointments? MFM Thursday!
Cravings/Symptoms? I've been craving cheese and fruit (still!) when I'm not nauseous.
Rants/Raves/Randoms? I have a script for an US (I've already had my dating with the RE and because we did genetic testing on the embryos they didn't see a need for NT) and I called today to see when I could get in and the earliest they had at the location I wanted was the 26th of August. I won't even be in the 1st trimester anymore! She tried the other locations and the only other availability was the 08/01 which is my MFM appointment. So I guess my reassurance US may be not happening.
Questions? Do you think it's worth it to go to an independent ultrasound place to get a 1st trimester US? There's a few different places around me but I'm hesitant about how good they are.

@therealbitts Thank you! Good luck telling your boss! Hope they don't give you a side eye!
@daffodil_shoe Super simple. Just potato bread with mayo, sliced cherry tomatoes with salt and pepper. SO GOOD! That’s great you got so much done!
@celticknotfire Lol yes! That was me! 😂 Oh fruit is always good! So happy you appointment is finally this week! Sorry you weren’t able to line up the U/S! I went to one for peace of mind at 8 weeks and it was a very good experience! She did measurements and everything! I also got a little bag of goodies!
@celticknotfire this is our first year gardening. We have tomatoes, peas, green beans, pickling cucumbers, banana peppers, and onions. DH also planted watermelon but I don’t think they’re growing at all. He planted everything way too close together.
As far as I know, those independent US boutique places aren’t qualified to make any kind of medical diagnosis or anything. So I would be hesitant to go there for any kind of reassurance.
Cravings/Symptoms? No more cravings. Still some nausea and I need to eat small meals or else I feel like crap.
Rants/Raves/Randoms? I had to wear maternity pants today. I am super bloated from constipation and my regular pants were so uncomfortable. I got the side panels skinny bootcut jeans from Target yesterday. Super comfy and flattering.
Questions? Nope!

@rikiteacup I’m currently wearing maternity jeans! I also bought a pair of maternity jean shorts since none of my shorts are fitting. I just can’t believe my size difference (bloating) cuz I didn’t wear maternity jeans til about 20 weeks last time. Oh well, I’m comfy 😊
@celticknotfire I agree with @daffodil_shoe, if you're looking for reassurance, I'd make sure to know what you're getting with the u/s.
@daffodil_shoe good luck today with your appointment! Keep us posted.
@brookert615 I've been wanting some chocolate milk too but I am lactose intolerant. I think this would be the straw that breaks the camel's back for my nausea.

@rikiteacup Okay fun fact and not sure how it happened or what. But I am severely lactose intolerant usually and some how it is not bothering me one bit. Also my psoriasis is clearing up which it hasn't since when I was in middle school.
@celticknotfire@daffodil_shoe I did do an elective ultrasound at 8 weeks. I was getting panic attacks and just so worried about this pregnancy/if everything was okay. The place I went was very thorough and they require you to be under OBGYN supervision, they noted that this was for entertainment purposes only and not to replace ultrasounds you would get at the doctor. Surprisingly enough my OBGYN refers people to the location I went to since at the office I only get one ultrasound. I did do a lot of research and did weigh the risks but it did lift a huge weight off of my chest. Just a different perspective!
@brookert615, my lactose intolerance basically disappeared during my 1st pregnancy and returned at some point after. I can’t tell if it is going away yet this pregnancy or not. I have heard it’s not unusual for it to go away during pregnancy.
@jvk2012 Just funny because DH said that it was a red flag that I was KU because he always wants to go to our local ice cream shop and I'm always like "no". But I wanted a milkshake more than anything and I was waiting to be in pain all night haha.
@brookert615 interesting about lactose intolerance! I don't know if I want to test it though. I also have a huge gallstone (2 cm diameter) which is compounding the problem. My digestive track is just a whole mess. Nothing is working like it should and pregnancy is making it worse. Eating clean and small meals helps a lot. Just bought a 27oz bottle of Miralax

@rikiteacup Lol I don't blame you for not wanting to test it! Sorry your digestive system is being tough. My OB gave me this prenatal sample that has something in it to make things "move" and I'm very tempted lol.
@brookert615 and @rikiteacup I found last pregnancy that I did much better with milk than normal, but I’m not lactose intolerant, just have minor issues. I have a friend who is severely lactose intolerant and it went away during her pregnancy and for a few months after. It’s so weird.
Midwife appt today went great! Got to see kiddo (pictures in the US thread), and he was wiggling all around! Even had the hiccups! Heart rate was great at 164.

@rikiteacup LOL. I’m not sure the hormones would make you feel better after wine anyway. The way my last pregnancy made a few things taste weird, it would probably taste like vinegar too.
@brookert615 I also got a Rx sample for a prenatal. I should see if it contains a stool softener. I already take 3 stool softeners/day

I went and got my US today! She was amazing and explained everything. They do not listen to the actual HB because of the risk of damaging the heart which I thought that was awesome. We did listen to the HB through the umbilical artery and that was really cool. Our little baby was moving all around and the heart was beating away. I cried and laughed and cried some more! As soon as I get the pictures transferred to my laptop I'll post them. I will definitely be going back to this place because I was so impressed!

@brookert615 yes! She was so amazing and made me feel so relaxed. MH told her we will be back and probably more than once! He wants one of the heartbeat bears and a 3D/4D with the images on a USB. We've waited so long for this and realistically it's going to be our only biologically child so we are going all out. The way we look at we already spent a ton on IVF so may as continue the trend.
