Working moms - week of 7/29

Is it ok I start this thread?

I told my boss! It went well. What a relief.

I need to learn to stop stressing about things that haven't happened.  I was up at 330am this morning scared about this and I needn't have been.

  • @bookworm492 - I'm glad it went well, now you don't have to worry about it anymore 😊
  • @bookworm492 YAY! I'm so happy it went well and that stress is off your back!
  • @rjgmcmanus after I fell back asleep my cat decided to get right in my face and scream so she could be fed at some ungodly hour,  that didn't help! But I guess I'll be prepared for night feedings thanks to her lol.
  • @bookworm492 That's both hilarious and terrifying, lol! But yeah, good preparation or something, haha.
  • @bookworm492 glad that talk went well!

The last two days I've been able to keep food and water down! Yay! I still have rotten symptoms but nothing I can't handle. As long as this 2 day trend continues and when I go to my doctor appointment Wednesday they don't find more issues, I plan to ask to go back to work part time next week.

I'm a little nervous about going back after so long of being off. I rarely worked at all in July. My co workers and I used to be fairly close. But not one of them has called or text to ask how I'm doing since I've been off. It feels weird. Maybe they are just trying to give me space while I take care of myself and baby. But it doesn't feel like that. I'm hoping I don't get the cold shoulder when I go back. I know several of them have had to work harder to pick up the slack while I've been off. It's not something I could predict or help but that might not matter to some people if their work life has been made more difficult.

I'm also worried about upper management and HR not being happy with me coming back only part time. I'll just have to wait and see.
  • @bookworm492 Hooray!  That must be such a relief for you now that you no longer have to stress about breaking the news to your employer.  Happy for you.
  • @mrszoobear I hope all is well your coworkers when you return.  I think as employees we have all had to cover for a coworker's absence at some point, just as most everyone has (or will) need to be out themselves at times.  I should hope that they will understand this and not hold it against you,  but try not to take it personally if they act pissy (easier said than done).
  • i am in an all day meeting tomorrow... which normally i wouldn't put up an out of office... but i'm already behind on email and just can't focus... so i decided today at 3pm i was putting it up  :D
