I mentioned this in WTO, but I did get some knitting done on my Aran blanket this weekend. This has been an ongoing back burner project for like a decade 😂. Every so often I pick it back up and work on a square or two, maybe I’ll actually finish it at some point in the next year? I have like 5 squares done, need about 20.

Does anyone on this thread sew? I have my mom's old machine, and was thinking of taking some online classes to brush up on it. Was wondering if anyone has done Creativebug?

@mvt2003 I love that! Is this the one that the yarn was discontinued but you found enough?
Here's one of the blankets I made for my cousin. It's a pale yellow. Michael's brand yarn (this is "Snuggly Wuggly") is fantastic. It's inexpensive, soft, and washes beautifully!

@emeraldduchess Thanks! Yes, this is the yarn that the color was discontinued. It's Plymouth Encore (shade 0045 English Fern). I actually found a few more skeins online at a yarn shop in NY and bought it just in case I decide to make the blanket bigger.

I love your blanket! So pretty and looks nice and soft and squishy!!!!!

@mvt2003 I dabble! That's actually one of the main things I want to set up when we clear out the spare room and convert it into proper walk-in closet / sewing room. I'm excited to try a few different kinds of projects I've had in mind...

@BusinessWife That's so exciting! I'm going to get my mom's sewing machine serviced, and I want to spend some time working on basic skills. What kind of projects do you have in mind? I'm looking for some inspiration!

@shamrocandroll Creativebug is basically online crafting classes, it's run by Joann. I went to see if there are any sewing classes in one of the 2 Joanns near me, and I didn't realize that both of them do not have the lesson room! So I'm thinking online may be the way to go. I want to use my Thursday tennis lesson time (now that tennis is done for the season) for personal growth haha.

@mvt2003 I took a couple of series of classes and picked it up well enough to develop the skill on my own from there. I think you could do it online for sure! Even something like YouTube probably has a lot of great tutorials for free!

+1 for recommending free YouTube videos to teach you! I was able to make a Halloween costume this past October that I was quite proud of based off a few different videos.

@mvt2003 well for starters we just switched over to a quilt MIL made for me, so I want to do a few shams to coordinate. She made two pillowcases I've had over the smaller pillows, but really two big regular size shams, two smaller odd-size pillows I use, and then really a third throw pillows cover for the one that lives on the chair. After that I want to graduate to some baby clothes finally, bc BABY CLOTHES!!! 😆 But I'm sure the vintage style stuff I love will be some time before my skill level catches up. Can we say, SMOCKING??? OMG, I just die, but all that Feltman Bros stuff is so $$$. We also need a cover for the instapot, so there's that ;)

@BusinessWife all of that sounds amazing!!!! I wish I had the eye to put quilting fabrics together! I will also admit I have my eye on learning smocking! So if you find any good tutorials pass those my way! I want to see sham pics as you work on them!!!

This is nothing pretty, but I made (mostly) healthy blender muffins last night to use up some super ripe bananas. Cinnamon + walnut for DH, chocolate chip and walnut for me 😋

@shamrocandroll thanks!! It’s the perfect recipe for a non baker like me, you just throw all the ingredients (- mix ins) into a blender, stir in whatever you want to mix in, and put it into the muffin tin! I put the recipe under the picture if you’re interested! It’s not the sweetest muffin in the world but you can add more honey, I just err on the side of caution because DH doesn’t like sweet stuff.

This sound great! @b_1029. I totally made a banana bread over the weekend, too. ;) @shamrocandroll you can do eeet! I used Allrecipes and swapped out 1/2 c whole wheat flour, only used 1/2 c sugar, and added walnuts. Came out great!

The light in my kitchen isn't great so this might not look that appetizing but it was sooo good! Creamy corn pasta with basil from the NYT. Pureeing the corn with scallions makes it creamy without actually adding cream and there are so many yummy summery flavors.
