Needing advice... This is my first pregnancy, and I’m 25 weeks pregnant with a baby girl. I’ve already gained 20 pounds, but I’m not even showing enough to where “oh it’s just baby weight” sounds suitable like most people have been telling me. When I first became pregnant my OB said I should gain anywhere from 25-35 lbs throughout my entire pregnancy. But now she’s saying I may gain an additional 30lbs by the time I deliver since I have already gained 20lbs. My biggest down fall is sweets, I’ve been craving them like CRAZY since I was about 13 weeks!!! I’m not really hungry, I’ll eat a regular 3 meals a day, but sweets such as cake, cookies etc I want constantly. I know this is a lengthy post, but please give me advice/your experiences on weight gain and ways to ease my cravings for sweets. TIA!
Hi, congrats, and welcome! I have no advice on curbing the sweets cravings really- I got lucky and sweets make me sick so I just avoid them lol. But theres a good fitness/health thread where you might get some ideas.
Also I would recommend changing your name so it's easier to identify and communicate with you.

The amount of weight you gain will vary throughout the pregnancy and it's probably not going to be linear. Also, gaining 20 lbs in the first 25 weeks does *not* mean you will gain an additional 30 for the remainder of the pregnancy. Not sure where that number is coming from.
If you were underweight to start with, you "should" gain more weight overall, and from the pictures you posted, it looks like this may be the case.
As for craving sweets — well, as you know that's not the best thing to eat but I'm the same way! My suggestion is that you have a little when you want but keep it at just a taste. My favorite is dark-chocolate-covered almonds. I take three out of the package when I want a sweet and eat them slowly to savor. That's usually enough to satisfy the craving and it only has few grams of sugar. You might also consider small hard candies; you can have one and that isn't too much sugar either.
Hope this helps, and I will second @angieeeeee that you should take a moment to change your screen name from @knottie40e9e349668cf652 so that we can get to know you better on the board, and also post on the Introduce Yourself Here thread when you have a moment
Like everybody else has said, weight gain is going to be different for everybody. From your pictures, you look great, so unless your doctor is really worried, try to accept that you are an awesome baby making machine and the weight is only temporary. As for the sweets, try hard candies that last longer or substituting things out. I love orange creamsicles, so no sugar added fruit bars are a good sub, as are desert flavored yogurts.
I am also in the craving sweets mode. I try and limit what I have in the house so I am not as tempted during the day although I am definitely a lost cause when I leave my house.
I find I gain the most weight in 1st tri and then it starts to taper to a steady weight gain the remainder of the pregnancy (for me). I agree with PPs who said to try to switch up what you are eating. I can eat 10 mini chocolate bars and still crave more (and also get unbelievable heartburn) or I can suck on some jolly ranchers and only have 1 or 2.
Also, even if you gained 1lb per week the remainder of the pregnancy and went full term, that would only be 15 more lbs. Agree with above, not sure where the number 30 is coming from.
Drink lots of water, move a lot, and love the body you are in. You look great and have a lovely baby bump. Enjoy the rest of this pregnancy and jump on any of our other threads if you want to get involved with us!
