  • @mokay19 so sorry everything seems to be more expensive than you were hoping for! Hopefully once you get all the concrete pricing, you can make a decision that you both have peace with!

@bobbyflies2020 that’s frustrating your DH’s doc downplayed the numbers! Hopefully he won’t be too disappointed if/when the RE says something different!

@emeraldduchess hopefully you will get some clarity about your numbers and everything from your RE appt. today!

@b_1029 yay, glad your RE appt. went well and you have a plan in place! Fingers crossed for being a magical unicorn!!

@b_1029 I’m glad you’re feeling optimistic and have a solid plan. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

@mokay19 85% is amazing! I hope there is some way to get those costs down.

@ruby696 I hate when doctors are that way. They know we are desperately searching for explanations about why our bodies are struggling and then they discount very plausible reasons why! I wish OBs, nurses, and fertility docs really understood what it was like to go through this. Sometimes I want to ask them if they’ve ever had a loss or trouble TTC. There should be mandatory sensitivity trainings.

@emeraldduchess Good luck at your appointment. Wishing you all the good mojo with the RE!
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*

@b_1029 fantastic update!!! I'm so happy that you are happy with your RE and your plan :) I think 2 TI and 3 IUI is perfectly reasonable too :)
@mokay19 I'm glad you got a little help from that check to offset the car expense. I hate when it all seems to pile on. I know (or am pretty sure) @emmasemm traveled for her transfer but did monitoring locally. Perhaps you could do monitoring locally and travel just for retrieval and transfer?

afm - still have that damn trigger in me 10 days post trigger. I thought a 5000 hcg would be gone by now.. BLAH.

  • @chichiphin did the RE give you any guidance on how long it might take to leave your system? Or when to test?
  • @chichiphin that's a good idea to look into!  I know part of CNY's website mentions that they allow third party monitoring so I would just have to weigh that price and check that out for around me!
  • **lurking (for now)

@b_1029 I'm so glad to hear the appointment went well and you have a plan.  FX it works perfectly and we all get to go to April!  <3

  • Thanks everyone for your support. I hate that MH is convinced he is not the problem, now I am doubting what I have read/my interpretation of what the RE said. But this is one small thing, in the grand scheme of things. You guys are everything <3

@b_1029 Yay. Did your RE give you an option for how many IUI's to do? IUI is my preferred option ATM because of the risks of ER. I am so excited for you. AF hurry up!

@emeraldduchess Sorry. It is v frustrating when your research doesn't line up with your doctor reports. FWIW, I had 11 follicles at my last US and I am 35. When is your next appointment?

@mokay19 so sorry for the car troubles! Glad you have the extra cash to cover it though. At the same time it would be a lot nicer if you could put that money towards treatment instead.

  • @bobbyflies2020 my follow up appointment is today. :) We're going to discuss what the first round of testing showed and if/what treatments might be necessary.  She's probably going to order RPL testing too.  I haven't O'ed yet, so maybe there's still time to do something this cycle?

I hope your DH isn't gloating about what the urologist said about his morphology.
  • b_1029b_1029 member
@emeraldduchess ahhh good luck at your appointment! Let us know how it goes 🙌🏻
  • @jennifer_louise lol well she told me not to test until 14dpo and I internally rolled my eyes. But she did say it usually takes 6-8 days to leave the system but some women take the full 14 days... and here I am at 10. So, a half-assed answer from her.
@b_1029 I am today, thank you for asking! FWIW - I met with a second RE for a second opinion appt and she feels strongly that 3 IUIs is appropriate but after 3, statistically it is better to move to IVF for success rates
@inthewoods23 girl don't say things like that haha

  • @b_1029 Insurance is overwhelming. Maybe grab a highlighter and look for pre-authorized or pre-certified. That usually means that those procedures are all covered with no cost. Do you have a deductible? You can always call your insurance rep and make them explain it to you. GL! You got this.

@emeraldduchess Haha! Men and their sperm 🙄 Good luck this cycle and with the 3dpo progesterone. Interesting about the uterus lining. Isn't there a uterine lining test they do before IVF? Fertility is like your phone's app store... Whatever you need, there is a test for that 🤦

  • @bobbyflies2020 I'm sure there is a test of the uterine lining, but my RE didn't bring it up. We aren't at the point yet where we have to make a decision about IVF. One of the tests that she's doing is to see if I have any antibodies in my blood that would prevent a placenta from forming. The progesterone is to hopefully keep the lining from starting to shed too early and give an embryo a better chance at implanting. Pretty fascinating stuff! My mom experienced IF in the 80s/early 90s and her options were basically limited to fertility drugs.  IVF was still very new and had a much lower success rate and she didn't want to pursue that.
  • @keikilove you had the hcg shot the day of IUI right? Ugh 12 days post IUI! I’m still testing out my trigger at 11dpt here :/ I’m glad your week is amazing but busy tho - that keeps you occupied!!

@chichiphin Yep, my shot was done same day as IUI. The nurse laughed when I expressed disappointment that its remnants would mess up my POAS-mania. But you’re right—at least this new gig is keeping me occupied! Hang in there! Do you get to test soon w BW?
  • @keikilove lol nope! 14DPO... so I have 5 more days! but AF comes on 11DPO regardless of progesterone supps, so I'll know by then... also I'll be 13dpt at that point sooo that should be out of my sys! When is your beta?

@chichiphin I’m in that long waiting game too😩 Even though the nurse said I could get BW done on 12DPO, my doctor wanted to be more conservative & put the order in for 14DPO. I’m 8DPIUI, have 6 more days to go till BW. Period will be due on 13DPO regardless of progesterone too, so we shall see!🤞🏽

@chichiphin & @keikilove I hope this waiting time speeds up! Ugh, all the limbos just plain suck.

@b_1029 I’m so glad your appointment went well! GL with insurance. I have no idea about this stuff, and I hate having to call them and provide personal info in order to figure out what’s covered. My re gave me a bunch of numbers/codes to read off to the insurance co to see what’s covered and how covered it is.  Maybe that could streamline it?

@emeraldduchess I’m glad you like your RE! I hope your bw goes smoothly today and that that progesterone does the trick.

@bobbyflies2020 Did you ever open your results? I also sent you a pm a little while ago to answer your question.

@shoogapoff +1 on welcoming you over here.

    My update in spoiler...

Afm, I greatly dislike my re, and I think it’s more than just the results I’m discovering. Maybe it’s enough to finally push me to go through the pain of seeing someone else. The appt started off with the nurse saying “oh I remember, you’re the one with rolling veins” which then led to “c’mon why isn’t this working?” after she had already jabbed the needle in. She rejabbed three more times without taking the needle out. Needless to say, it was painful and I’m bruised. (There is only one nurse at this practice.) Then I proceeded to wait for half an hour without pants. Then u/s, where the dr said everything was great, but seemed surprised when I hadn’t had my period, despite the fact that he had said I wouldn’t get one when he prescribed the medication. Wtf. Then I meet him in his office and he says, “I’m going to say things a little different than I had in the other room.” Well, shit. So then he explains that my tubes are crap, so the next step after finishing the meds will be clomid for super ovulation, but of course the estrogen will bring my endometriosis back to its peak. So my tight timeline isn’t just my impatience anymore; I’m racing my endo. He made it sounds like I’d be wasting my window if I don’t use clomid, but clomid will obviously shorten my window. I don’t know why I’m just hearing about this now. I told him that I was surprised to hear him suggest that I needed clomid since he had suggested that we try without anything for 3-4 months after the meds when I had last met with him. He sounded super hopeful then, and definitely less so now. Ughhh. So then I asked what happens after 3-4 months of clomid: IVF, which is a hard no-go for us. I’ve got 3 more weeks of meds and then I’m supposed to go in for another u/s when I get my withdrawal bleed. You know, to check for cysts and such since apparently that’s a concern of this med that he failed to mention. I feel like I just keep getting blindsided by him. But we got a copy of mh sa, though no results from his bw that he did on Saturday. Everything is in normal range, but I’m surprised that morph only needs to be 4% for “normal”. Just feeling a little defeated, but still hoping for the best. ETA: looking over the sa, it looks like round cells are higher than normal, so excuse me while I jump down a google rabbit hole...
  • @begging4abump I don't blame you for being confused and upset, my head is spinning from reading your update.  I'm sure I don't need to tell you this, but if this RE is making you more stressed and confused, you should definitely look for a new one and a second opinion. This isn't the first time this RE has left you shaking your head, right?
  • @begging4abump I'm so sorry for your experience with what sounds like kind of a crappy RE. I can't even imagine how frustrated and upset I would be in your shoes. Are there other RE options in your area?
