... brought this one back, in truth, so I could share this w/ yall: a tart I made! It has a rosemary (from our garden!) spelt crust, orange creme filling, & is topped with local organic figs (from our friends' house in our town!) Made from scratch by Kages, despite a sweltering Louisiana July.
Omg yaaaas @kagesstarshroom You are speaking to me today!!! Working on a blanket right now, will try to get a pic later because it's large and it lives at home on the couch!

I agree, @kagesstarshroom, I like the idea of this being a monthly thing! I'm all for recipe sharing, too. I have some pictures of stuff I knit that I can post later on.
I decided to learn how to bake and decorate layer cakes this year, behold my Easter creation. It’s biscoff flavor!!!

Thanks @shamrocandroll! It's not great for my waistline (or my participation in the healthy habits thread LOL) but it's fun, it takes up a decent amount of time (less time to spend thinking about my temps, ovulation, etc.) and it tastes great. I use Cake By Courtney's recipes, they're always amazing!

@emeraldduchess Yay! I copied the idea from the one you'd made earlier in the year, but it felt weird to reply from it so far out? I'm glad people are on board with making it a monthly!
Did a mini photo shoot this morning with the blanket I’m working on! It’s really thick yarn so it’s working up pretty quickly!

@mvt2003 that cake looks wonderful! Very pretty blanket as well! Is that knitted or crocheted? My mom taught me to knit forever ago, and I really should try it again!
@bluetickgal Thank you!! The blanket is knit, it's a really thick yarn and I'm working in garter stitch so it's difficult to tell! I'd love another knitting buddy on the board along with @emeraldduchess !

I made this dark chocolate zucchini cake over the weekend and it was great! No pics, though. I skipped making the ganache and just put some Cool Whip on top instead. If you have a ton of zucchini to get rid of and don't want to make zucchini bread, I highly recommend this!

I'm feeling the urge to make a summer fruit galette, but I want the crust to be sugary - does anyone have a go-to recipe? I'm thinking peaches and blueberries (my local orchard opens for business this week!)

I have never made a galette, but Sally's Baking Addiction blog might have a good recipe. Her site is my go-to for most baked goods! Her chewy chocolate chip cookies are amazing!
Y'all are making me hungry. T_T My new recipe of the week: Fresh corn (cut off the cob), green beans, cherry tomatoes, all cooked in a basil butter/balsamic vinegar sauce. Tastes delicious cold or warm!

@mvt2003 I didn’t even know what those desserts were called, but I do know that they are delicious! I hope you try out a good one so that you can share the photo and recipe!
@emeraldduchess & @mvt2003 those blankets are beautiful! I tried my hand at knitting a while back. My handiwork looked horrendous and tendinitis in my forearms flared up, so now I can better appreciate others’ talents for it!
Refinishing a door counts as crafting, right? This has taken me quite some time. Maybe 2 months? 3? I don’t really want to know. Just putting in a couple hours here and there really drags it out. No good before pictures unfortunately. Basically the door had super chunky spots of paint (red outside, white inside) because the previous owners never took the time to clean things off before painting. We had to replace the door knob maybe the third day after having bought the house, and the replacement didn’t match up, so that looked bad too. So I stripped all the paint and some unidentifiable white gunk underneath the paint (drywall mud maybe) and most of the SUPER dark stain that was apparently popular in the 70s, slapped on 4 coats of polyurethane to each side, and here she is! (Don’t mind the missing trim or the water stained wall or exposed light switches. We had a pipe burst in the soffit above the front door. We’ve repaired all the drywall and sanded down the dry wall mud to even out all the walls from having taken down wallpaper, and now we’re finally ready to prime & paint.)
Holy moly @begging4abump that is gorgeous and you did a TON of work!! That totally counts!
@emeraldduchess thanks! I'll start hunting her site! I have a very specific vision, I'm hoping someone else had the same vision so I have to do less leg work on it !

@begging4abump I'm just here lurking at all the delicious cakes and then bam, at the bottom is that door 😍. My partner and I made a great attempt recently at repainting our house and then we came to a stall! All the doors need work but you have inspired me to get stuck into my bay windows, if they were stripped back to their original timber they would be so fab!
@whattheavocado Good for you, painting everything! That’s no easy feat! We’re working room by room since everything is connected to each other, so four years in, we have three rooms completed...minus needing minor things like repairing a small patch on the ceiling and adding trim around one door. Hopefully in the next couple months we’ll have the front hallway/stairs completed. I love before and after photos if you have any—of the painting or if you take on those windows!! (We NEVER remember to take before photos. 🤷🏻♀️)

My FIL keeps giving us zucchini. There are 7 of them on my kitchen counter right now. I think we're in for a lot of zucchini bread, side dishes, and more bread.
@emeraldduchess ha, my mom gave me a gigantic zucchini that I used maybe a third of. And then I forgot that it’s in the refrigerator...and bought a bunch more on clearance at the grocery store. I’ll include some savory recipes below in case you’re interested. The gyros are DELICIOUS, but I have eta: NOT tried the veggie sandwiches yet. I’ll probably try them this week though!
@begging4abump It looks great! What color are you going to paint the walls?
It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*
@begging4abump we're also a Sherwin paint family! My go-to gray is "knitting needles" shockingly enough.

@mvt2003 ha, we must have left the store with about 20 different shades of grays. I’m not sure if we had knitting needles in our stack, but a quick google search makes it look like it would have been a quality contender!
