Nails/Fails: I don't feel like I had too many outstanding nails or fails last month... I would say that DS watched a lot of tv yesterday because I wasn't feeling well, and I hate that, but sometimes it's gotta happen. We got a little splash pad pool and he's had a great time playing with that as the weather has gotten warmer.
Rants/Raves/Dear Diary? MH and I were considering trying potty training over the upcoming long fourth of July weekend. I'm not sure we're still going to do it, as now MH's friend is coming into a nearby town and he wants to go visit him one day (all of us). I really want to give it a try, but I am afraid that this is going to end up just me since MH is not off weekends anymore for awhile, and is only actually off W-Fri of this week.
Questions? I'm worried about what to do with DS when this baby comes.. he'll be in daycare a couple days a week, but we can't afford to send him 5 days so we'll drop to 2 or 3 (depending on what will hold his full time spot), and it will be half day only. I'm concerned about how to occupy him all day during the day when there is also a brand new baby that needs attention. Any TTM/TTM+ have any suggestions?
GTKY: DS loves cars so I usually get him to play with his cars. Or, lately, he's enjoyed coloring so I set him up with that.
No time to fully post but this is a general complaint. I swear this pregnancy hurts so much more than 1st time around! It is because everything is already so stretched out?? My RLP hurts, my SPD is already kicking in, and my overall stomach is just tender. It was not like this with my last one and the only thing that it seems to be is my body is just relaxing so much faster because it has already done this. Anyone else feel more aches and pains the 2nd or 3rd time around?
Also, this fatigue has got to stop. Maybe it is because Im older, working more, or from trying to keep up with a 3 year old (or all of the above) but I want to rest all of the time. My 3 year old is now telling me "momma I need some time to relax" and then does a deep sigh. 🤦♀️
@purplefan1 I’m right there with you. I blame it on not being in my 20s anymore and having a almost 3 year old (going on 13 🙃). I don’t even remember feeling pregnant at this point last time, and now I’m already grunting when I have to turn over in bed at night and have a major waddle going on, it’s a great look.
My lovey feelings towards both of you is huge right now. Nothing feels more normalizing then someone else telling you they are smack in the middle of the suck with you!! Thanks @creamcheeseplease (also, your handle always makes me want bagels) and @rogro118 for being validating!
Other kids/ages: I have a 3 and 1 but they have their birthdays within the month so I guess almost 4 and 2. EEK!
Nails/Fails: Nails - My 2nd born is rocking potty training. So for all those other mamas considering, I say go for it. Not going to lie, the first 2 weeks sucked majorly. But something clicked week 3 and she went from having 1 accident a day to none for the last week. Now we just need to add pants haha she has been going around bottomless the last month. So naturally we haven't gone out much.
Fails - My exercise regime and eating habits. I don't know what happened but literally have not gotten myself together in July.
Questions? Any one else have major pelvic pressure post sex? (Sorry for the TMI haha)
GTKY: What's a go-to activity that keeps your kid occupied when you need to get something else done? Depends on the day, age of kid and what I am trying to do. I am a SAHM so there is always something I need to do :P
If I am cooking sometimes I'll set up a Cheerio sensory/snack bin. Lots of cups and spoons and a funnel with half a bag of cheerios.
Popsicle sticks into a small slot has saved my life in multiple on the go situations.
TV when I am really feeling desperate but that is hit or miss since my oldest isn't as into it as my youngest.
@creamcheeseplease - I could give you a laundry list of things that worked for my 2 year old when we brought my 2nd home. The HEAVY favorite was: 1000 Stickers Book by Roger Priddy
It was amazing to bust that out when I needed to nurse because I could nurse one and help stickers or read to the other.
Other things I did was I made nursing boxes. I think I had 3 or 4 the size of a shoebox with random assortment of things in it. Busy like items in it. Magnet tiles and farm animals in one. Duplos and Stickers in another. I think one had a lacing activity and some noise books. It worked for a little while at least until I got more comfortable putting the baby down more.
I also had a subscription box (M is for Monster) that came once a month with cute crafts that were ready to play so that was our special time during naps.
