July Appointments

We are all going to be halfway there and more this month!! What's happening at your appointments?

Re: July Appointments

  • I just updated in the anatomy scan thread, but I had my AS today. Baby looked great, but the tech couldnt see the cord insertion on the placenta very well. So I'm getting sent to MFM for a level 2 ultrasound to check it out further. My dr said is most likely 1 of 2 options; 1 being normal and 2 being something minor theyll monitor when I get farther along.

  • @gumby22c I hope all is well with the cord insertion!

I ended up cancelling my doctor's appointment today, as she advised that if I'm going with a midwife it's not necessary to have care from both (meaning she also doesn't see any risk factors etc.). I meet with the midwife next week, and I'm excited because I'm meeting a different one who is a second member of my 3 midwife team!
After the appointment we're going to BabyMoon to get ultrasound photos (it's cheaper there than buying them from the anatomy scan, haha)!

Sending all of the positive vibes to everyone with appointments coming up!

Had a checkup with my OB yesterday. Baby had a solid heartbeat, and he wasnt concerned about the spotting I had a few weeks ago, so that was relieving. I don't have my AS til next week though so there wasn't much to the appointment.
  • So the infection I've been whining about is a yeast infection triggered by the antibiotic from the original infection, which is also still present. Send T&P for my zorch. They gave me a sketchy pill(diflucan)  that the pharmacist was totally against giving me so I'm trying the monistat first.

Also, while on my patient portal my second labs from genetic testing were back. Everything was good but based off of crown rump length measurements both weeks they have my EDD at 11/18 which is nearly a full week ahead of my given due date of 11/23-24. I wonder if they'll officially change it at the AS 🤔

  • My EDD from my 6 week scan has been 11/23 but every scan since has shown 5-7 days further along. They havent changed mine though.

Sorry about the zorch sadness. Hope you get some relief. I think Ive been on diflucan before but not during pregnancy.
  • @ABabyMarshall I’m sorry you have a yeast infection. That sound miserable. I hope it clears up quickly. Also, my baby has been measuring a week ahead for awhile too and they never changed my EDD. I’m glad because I want him to come naturally and avoid induction. It’s better if they don’t change it.
  • Ah, you know what you make a great point because I'd much rather avoid induction too. I won't push the issue. I'm just excited that it's 5 days sooner than original but I'll keep it to myself lol
  • I have my anatomy scan scheduled for July 16. I am excited and nervous. I can’t wait to see baby.
  • @ABabyMarshall & @emeraldcity1214 - It's nice that you are measuring ahead even though they won't change it. I was measuring about a week behind during my first pregnancy and baby was 2 weeks LATER then my due date.  And let me tell you the emotional and mental instability of myself during that time was out of control.  I wish they would have pushed mine back so I wasn't always thinking about it and plus ALL the comments.
  • @Dancer688 I think I would have been the same as you in that position. I won’t go over 41 weeks because I’m just scared of something happening to the baby but since I was temping and know exactly when I ovulated I’m not worried about them changing my due date. It’s more important to me for the doctor to not be pressuring me to induce before 41 weeks. I’m not sure about this new practice I’m using and their acceptance of semptothermal method of tracking ovulation. I really hope they are low intervention because it is slim picking for OB groups here. I would have to go with a midwife at a birthing center if this doesn’t work out.
  • Just had my regular 24w appointment, uneventful doppler and BP check. I'll do my glucose check next appointment at 28w and then go to every 2 weeks appointments at that point.

I have to say I was curious about my fundal height since I feel like I look so much bigger than many of the other ladies on HDBD, but she measured me at 23w, so I guess my tummy is just big? idk.
  • @creamcheeseplease - I think it is also different at looking at yourself vs other people.  I know that when I look down all I can think is how huge I am but everyone else still looks just showing a little bit.
  • I had my regular follow up today (23 weeks 2 days) with no issue and healthy heartbeat and stomach measurement on target for 11/6. I'll go back 8/9 for glucose test and follow up US to see if my placenta previa issue has resolved.
  • @runningfortwo81 I hope your previa resolves at your u/s next month! I won't get another u/s for my previa until late September.
  • So I just had my 24 week appointment and the baby has developed an irregular heart beat so now I am scheduled for an ultrasound and fetal heart monitoring for sometime in the upcoming week plus weekly visits with my OB until either birth or the heart rhythm resolves itself.
  • @Dancer688 I hope it resolved quickly. I’m so sorry you have that added stress and worry.
  • @Dancer688 Oh no! I hope the monitoring goes well and it turns out it was just a fluke or an easy resolution.
  • @dancer688 I'm sorry for the extra monitoring - I had something similar last pregnancy but I can't remember if it was an extra heartbeat or a skipped heartbeat. Are you seeing a specialist? I did last time for a high level u/s and review of the HB and heart.
  • @creamcheeseplease - That sounds like exactly what we are having.  At resting his heart skips a beat every few beats.  But when it races it is normal.  But yea, we are doing a high level u/s to see what is up.

I am hoping definitely hoping it is a fluke because the initial A/S a month ago was all normal.

Yes this is exactly what DS had, I had to ask MH if he remembered. When we went to the specialist he wasn’t concerned and said these usually resolve themselves before birth. We were already getting extra monitoring for his kidneys so they checked it again after 4w and it had gone away. FX this is the same outcome for you!

@Dancer688 I’m so sorry for the added worry from your appt. hope all turns out to be well for you and LO! ❤️

Had a regular 24 week appt yesterday...all is fine except I might have some sort of bladder infection. My bladder aches when I walk for any extended period of time...I thought it was normal but OB didn’t 🤷🏻‍♀️ It’s not SPD for sure so I’ll take a test when I go in for my 1 hr GD test this week.

I gained a whopping 6 lbs in the last 4 weeks 💀 Apparently still down 1 lb from pregnancy. OB said it was normal but to not go crazy over the next 16 weeks 🙄

We talked for a long time about premature labor signs and when to go to the hospital. It’s one thing to read about it but it felt very different speaking to a live person about it. He was basically like in doubt go straight to the hospital and he’ll meet me there ASAP. Hope Elijah stays put until 40 weeks!! OB wants me to start kick counts at 25 weeks...aka Sunday.

Next appt at 28 weeks and then growth ultrasound at 31 weeks. I thought it was strange that he didn’t go fundal height measurements. Anyone elses OB not do that measurement??

Hope everyone and their peanuts are staying healthy 💕
  • @mc0303 I'm 24 weeks and havent had a fundal measurement yet either. I cant remember when they started that with my last pregnancy.

@gumby22c @emeraldcity1214 that makes me feel better! It’s one of those thoughts that keeps nagging me, but sounds normal.
  • I just had my first fundal measurement at my last appointment at 22 weeks but I dont really remember my providee doing it at all last time. And they didnt tell me what the fundal height was so dont know if Im measuring right or not. I guess they would have said something if it was concerning.
  • My doctor was doing fundal measurements since my 12 week appointment. At 16 weeks she said the measurement hadn't changed and I was so distressed. At 22 weeks my midwife took a measurement and said I was measuring 23 weeks, but realistically anything within 2 weeks +/- she was happy with.
  • @Dancer688 I hope it resolves itself, I'll be thinking of you and baby.

I'm not sure I've ever had fundal measurements because I'm plus size and I read somewhere that it can be inaccurate if you have a belly already. Do they take a tape measure and do it? Lol I really don't know

I posted in the sex announcement thread 🎉🎀 that I went to my AS part 2 at MFM Friday. I haven't talked to OB yet about particulars.  Baby's limbs are measuring in the 90th percentile though (and I'm feeling them!) The sonographer more importantly was concerned about my amniotic fluid looking low, though it's too early for her to measure exactly, she said just from her professional knowledge it looked low so I'm on strict orders to drink even more fluids and they'll check back in a few weeks 🤞
  • @ABabyMarshall hooray! so happy for you! Hope all that water does the trick for the fluid. Should be good anyway since its soooo hot again.
  • @Dancer688 thanks!! And I'm so glad the heart thing seems like a fluke fingers crossed going forward ♥️🤞
  • Yay for a good scan @Dancer688
  • Wonderful news @Dancer688!

  • Just had my 24 wk appt.  Blood pressure and weight gain are both good.  Had my first fundal measurement, which dr. said was good.  When she went to doppler, the baby was up really high, then kept moving all around.
  • I just had my first appointment at the new practice. She did a fundal measurement and said I’m measuring 26 weeks instead of 24. They kept asking me if I had any high BP or GD with my other pregnancies. I guess they think I’m likely going to test positive for GD since I have such a huge baby. I will also be getting a growth scan early in the 3rd trimester to monitor his growth.

Honestly, I don’t put much stock in the fundal measurements anyways. Five different doctors could come in on the same day and do the measurements and I’m sure they would differ a week or two depending on which doctor did it. I’m certainly not even discussing an early induction or scheduled c-section. I told her she could go ahead and write that in my chart now.
  • @emeraldcity1214 It must be weird going to a new practice at this point and yeah those fundal measurements don’t seem that accurate. I’ll also be getting a growth scan at 31 weeks and feel like I trust that more than a fundal measurement.
  • @mc0303 even late US aren’t accurate. The most accurate is the dating scan. Which I know you already know. I’m just a little frustrated about it all.
