Fit Friday 7/12

Just a reminder, this thread is for everyone, not just those who work out regularly. This is a place to get ideas how to keep active, get help with nutrition, or just venting about how you couldn’t get off the couch this week.

How are you feeling this week?

How was your nutrition been this past week? Any good meal or snack ideas to share?

Any goals for next week?

Re: Fit Friday 7/12

  • This week was better! I actually ran a little on Monday and plan on running again today. And I went for a walk all but one day...because it was miserably hot by 7 am 🤦🏻‍♀️

I’m currently living for plain Greek yogurt with some honey and strawberries. Oh and granola. That’s been my breakfast every morning and it’s been so good.

I keep a lot of fresh fruit in the fridge for a healthy snack.

Next week my my goal is to do two runs again and try to do a little further. I’m also considering trying to go to the gym and use the elliptical this weekend

  • @MrsJessS that is literally my breakfast every day! I love plain Greek yogurt with berries and granola!
  • @MrsJessS and @kbrown2385 - That's literally my breakfast every day too! Most of the time I throw in some frozen fruit and either milk or water and make a smoothie.
  • @kbrown2385 thanks for the reminder this thread is for everyone 😅

@MrsJessS oh, I love Greek yogurt with honey. I haven't had it in a while. *adding to grocery list*

How are you feeling this week? More and more human from the last couple months. Been trying out some prenatal yoga poses that were given to me by my OB. I've never done yoga before so I'm hilariously awkward but the stretches do feel really good.

How was your nutrition been this past week? Any good meal or snack ideas to share? Could be better. All I want is pasta, butter and garlic pasta, but I make sure to get some fruits and vegetables in each day. I'm starting to have a hard time with meat so looking at other protein options. The above mentioned Greek yogurt is a good start!

Any goals for next week? To start hitting my 10,000 steps again. These last few weeks have been kinda lazy walk wise.

@peppyj9 😅 didn’t want anyone to feel left out.

How are you feeling this week? Better. Still very tired but not as nauseous and getting heartburn mostly when I need to eat.

How was your nutrition been this past week? Any good meal or snack ideas to share? Better! I cooked a lot more for dinners at home. I don’t think we had fast food at all so that’s a win. I’m on the plain Greek yogurt and berries for breakfast. Trying to have fruit for snacks. I started wearing my Fitbit again and hit my step goals most days.

Any goals for next week? Walking more. Getting out of the house with ds and just moving.

Edit because words are hard and tag
  • @MrsJessS I haven't had yogurt and granola for a while. I love it but got off it when I couldn't eat anything in the morning due to nausea. Also we usually try to make our own yogurt because yogurt tubs aren't recyclable here anymore and it's actually really easy to do. So we need to get some yogurt starter and make some. We have some fresh picked blueberries we picked last week that would go quite well.

How are you feeling this week? Better and worse. I started out doing well and went swimming and have been walking more at the beginning of the week and then felt terrible yesterday so less active at the end of the week.

How was your nutrition been this past week? Any good meal or snack ideas to share? Having real food has been nice. I found our fresh picked and then flash frozen blueberries make a nice snack. Even when I feel nauseated they help settle my stomach because they are cold and they aren't too sweet either!

Any goals for next week? I would love to swim twice next week!
  • @biolprof I’ve just started looking into making my own! I have an instantpot and that’s supposed to make it super easy. Do you have a recipe/instructions you follow? We use our empty yogurt tubs as Tupperware 😂
  • @MrsJessS we use them as Tupperware too but there are only so many you can have lol

I think I looked up a recipe. We need to get something to make it easier but normally I just heat up the milk (half gallon whole milk makes about 1.5 big yogurt containers) 85C (180F) then let it cool to around 40C (80-110F) some cultures like different temps so you can play around with the culture temp. Once down to culture temp add a couple of tbsp of yogurt. If starting out new, buy your favorite store bought and use that to culture. Culture for 12 hours or more until thick. We like thick yogurt so we strain ours through cheesecloth. The longer you strain the thicker it is. You can save the whey if you want. Some cook w(make broth or cook beans) as it is protein packed.

I don't really have a recipe but they aren't hard to find online. Takes a little trial and error to figure out what you like best but it is really pretty easy.
  • How are you feeling this week?  Less nausea.  Glad I am finally back to my "harder" workouts.  I love to lift weights, but haven't felt like it in a while.

How was your nutrition been this past week? Any good meal or snack ideas to share?
Eh... Hanging in there.  I just try to eat a variety, but I love all foods so not too hard.  I have been loving pasta with pesto.  The premade stuff from costco is actually really good.

    Any goals for next week?
To take it easy.  I tend to overdo it and then am tired at work chasing the kids.  It's really hard for me because I have so much energy in the morning.
  • All this talk about Greek yogurt has me craving it!

How are you feeling this week? Better! I’m getting more energy and am really proud of myself that I’ve managed 2 days of CrossFit (with a 3rd tomorrow) as well as bricks walks Monday - Wed of this week.

How was your nutrition been this past week? Any good meal or snack ideas to share? Nutrition has been decent. I’m trying to focus on getting protein and not just loading up on carbs now that I’m not constantly nauseated. But then again, my lunch today was sharing an apple with DD and an order of Dippin Dots (we were at the zoo). Oops!

    Any goals for next week?
@peppyj9 I’m aiming for 10,000 steps every day, too.
