Upcoming appts: 7/25 for routine OB and anatomy scan
How are you feeling?: Pretty good, was super active over the long weekend between walking, some swimming and just being outside.
Rants/Raves: Raves: starting to work on nursery, need to clear out furniture - but half unrolled the rug to visualize things, got paint swatch up (need to play with this, don't love the first one), grabbed the drapes I'm fairly certain we want, and picked out a glider at Buy Buy Baby yesterday (and we can use a 20% off coupon on it!). I've always loved the Animal Print Shop prints, and later today I'm picking up 6 of them for $75 from Facebook marketplace - major win - they're like $200+ new. Also, splurged on a pair of Madewell jeans and I quasi hoped I would also hate them bc of being $142, but I love them. Damnit.
Questions: would anyone want to have a nursery thread, maybe where we can share ideas and get thoughts on items? I really like where I am heading with mine... but wondering if it is leaning more boy than neutral.
GTKY What shows are you into? Handmaid's Tale, Big Little Lies, Bachelor/ette, haven't started Stranger Things season 3 yet... and then some real quality (cough trash) stuff like Married At First Sight, 90 Day Fiance, currently attempting to watch the Hills reboot.
How are you feeling?: insomnia this past week is kicking my butt. I think I got a total of 5 hours of sleep last night and they weren't straight 5 hours. Yesterday afternoon I also didn't feel well, not sure if it was hormones or what, but I felt like I was going to pass out, throw up, and cry all at the same time.
Rants/Raves: We're working on the sleep lady shuffle with our almost 4 yr old. We've always stayed in her room until she's fallen asleep and we know with the new baby coming that's not going to be feasible come December. Last night was our first night not sitting right next to her bed, but rather half way across the room and she did so well! This morning we gave her tons of praise and told her she could have TWO stickers to put on her chart (for the same day lol) so hopefully tonight goes just as well. We told her once we complete her sticker chart and she shows she can go to bed like a big girl she can get a big girl bed. I think she's taking it seriously.
Questions: none
GTKY What shows are you into? I'm a big fan of the new Sabrina on Netflix. I'm not really watching anything gin particular right now. We don't have cable so everything is either Netflix or Amazon Prime.
@anniemarie887 I like the idea of having a nursery thread!
Baby is the size of a(n): I dont even know what to believe anymore. I guess an avocado lol
Upcoming appts: One at the very end of the month - just a routine checkup, then a week later the next big US!!! :-)
How are you feeling?: I feel great! Fingers crossed it lasts for longer than a day
Rants/Raves: Raves - My husband surprised me this weekend and took me on a little overnight date in the city so that was soooo fun and cute. Rant: We walked along the beach and I could not BELIEVE how much garbage and plastic had been littered on the ground and washed up along the beach. I seriously was so emotional about it.
@anniemarie887 Are those the Maternity Madewell ones I mentioned? If so- did u go into the store to try them on or did you order online without really knowing what size? Ugh I want them so bad! The ones I like are frayed at the bottom. I am so excited to also start more stuff on the nursery. I think we're doing like a jungle - but - classic - storybook type of theme...kind of hard to explain without the jungle part sounding super tacky haha. I guess I'll just link my blogpost about my nursery design, we're all friends now right? Blog: https://throughkateslens.wordpress.com/2019/06/28/were-having-a-baby/ Heading to Ikea this week to get accessories and frames. I picked out a glider at Buy Buy Baby too I think I just need to go ahead and order the thing, idk why I'm waiting. Also plan on getting a dresser somewhere (thrift store hopefully!) and using it as a dresser/changing table! I'd love a nursery thread I mentioned it to everyone before and idk if anyone saw it or just thought it wasn't a good idea...But I'll join in if you start it!
Questions: None really. I finally am starting to feel pregnant tho! And I think I've felt some movement. Anyone else?
GTKY What shows are you into? I think I have officially watched everything ever made throughout this pregnancy so far....been super into Handmaid's Tale, Below Deck, RuPaul's Dragrace, Real Housewives (cannot BELIEVE Lisa VP isn't speaking to anyone over that stupid dog!), started the new Stranger Things, Big Little Lies is really annoying me though...it's the SAME STUFF every episode!!!! Every BLL episode: flashback of them arguing on the stairs at party night, Madeline’s husbands are arguing, a shot of the arched bridge, Zoe Kravitz is freaked out, THE END. Also love any docu-series on drugs, great barrier reef...etc.
@ashorkey have you tried Unisom for sleeping? I think it has knocked me out the two times I used it...sorry you have been feeling so bad. :-/
We are officially due 12/22 but OB will induce at 12/16 if I haven’t gone into labor.
EDD/W+D: 16w1d
Team finding out/pink/blue/green: finding out we think
Baby is the size of a(n): action figure
Upcoming appts: 7/19 just a check up. And will schedule anatomy scan shortly after.
How are you feeling?: ok. Today I wanted to eat everything in sight. And I left my glucometer at home accidentally. Sooooo I ate more carbs than I should (gestational diabetes). I got dehydrated over the long weekend and it took a few days to recover.
Rants/Raves:
Rant: bras! Omg I need to buy new ones. My old nursing bras aren’t fitting right. My regular bras aren’t either. Ugh.
Questions: not yet
GTKY What shows are you into? Handmaid’s Tale right now. And we recently found Home Improvement on Hulu and have been watching that. It’s been fun and nostalgic.
@ashorkey good luck with getting your dd to bed alone, we still have problems with that in our house, which scares me with the baby
@stac928 I feel your pain with the bras. Mine look/feel terrible right now and I keep putting off ordering them.
EDD/W+D: 12/22 16w1d
Team finding out/pink/blue/green: team blue
Baby is the size of a(n): a pickle I think was what I read.
Upcoming appts: I have an appointment with my obgyn and my as the same day later this month.
How are you feeling?: today, rather crappy. I have been getting sick even with zofran.
Rants/Raves: we are at the beach. I kind of hate not sleeping in my own bed, but have been enjoying during the day, and the food.
Questions: none
GTKY What shows are you into? I have been having a hard time picking new shows lately, so I have been mostly rewatching the office and arrested development.
EDD/W+D: due date is 12/18, will be 17 weeks on Wednesday
Team finding out/pink/blue/green: Pink
Baby is the size of a(n): I'm not a fan of this question so I'm ganna pass.
Upcoming appts: July 31st, next ultrasound and routine checkup. I did the quad test today, so hopefully I will get those results back soon.
How are you feeling?: Last few days my sinuses have been crazy. I still have a really bad gag reflex so I ended up getting sick a couple times from coughing up mucus. Headaches are still hard to deal with and I'm having major gum sensitivity.
Rants/Raves:
Rave - We are having a gender reveal party this Sunday and a lot of friends and family will be here. We have known the gender a while so I'm super excited to share because keeping the secret feels like torture lol.
Rant - Ugh, my house is falling apart! I had two super short paychecks right after each other and my hubby has been coving everything. Then our septic tank needs to be pumped tomorrow bye-bye $210. Plus our fridge is on the fritz so see ya later $1200. My mom had been living with us for months getting ready to move down south. She finally moves to Tennessee (a 9 hour drive from us) and the first month without having her rent and we are already dipping into our savings account! Grrrr. I'm trying not to stress but so much happening all at once is very draining and a little unsettling.
Questions:
GTKY What shows are you into?
Hmmm. I love a lot of shows but not many that are currently on. I like Reigne if you have Netflix it is very binge worthy and 99.9% historically inaccurate 😂
Other faves: Lucifer, Pretty Little Liars, The Bold Type, John Oliver's Last Week Tonight. I'm sure there are lots more but I'm tired and my brain doesn't want to work very hard.
How are you feeling?: pretty good, but could use more naps. H/o GD, so I've been watching my sugar and I think I'll be diagnosed pretty soon. The good news is I've been following the diet for weeks so I think that's really helping and I'm feeling great. My weight gain and swelling are minimal.
Rants/Raves: I've been cleaning like crazy, and that's not my usual. I feel a real sense of urgency to declutter and get our house ready on a bigger scale than just a nursery. In fact, we're probably not going to have a whole nursery, since we'll have three kids in a three bedroom. For a while I think baby will just need a dresser and a place to sleep in our room.
Questions: none today
GTKY What shows are you into? DH and I are currently watching Outlander and New Girl - first time on both. I'm kind of embarrassed about Outlander but I also love it so... New Girl is pretty funny! We're anxious to start Stranger Things Season 3 as soon as we finish the seasons we're on of these current shows.
@janiep81 I love New Girl! I haven't seen the latest season (or two?), but love that show.
EDD/W+D: 16 weeks today!! Due 12/24
Team finding out/pink/blue/green: Finding out August 12
Baby is the size of an: avocado!
Upcoming appts: Just had another checkup today. Heartbeat at 150!
How are you feeling?: Surprisingly well! Some pretty bad back pain, especially at night, which I'm attributing to weight gain. My Leachco Back n Belly pillow got here yesterday, though, and last night's sleep was FABULOUS!
Rants/Raves: Rave: My sister painted us a sign for our social media announcement and it's *beautiful!* We're a little late to announce our pregnancy to everyone, but I'll have to post a pic of it in the announcement thread.
Questions:
GTKY What shows are you into? Currently watching Lost with DH (no, I've never seen it all the way through!). Also watching Handmaid's Tale and Brooklyn-99, and just started watching Criminal Minds, which feels more like a guilty pleasure than anything else.
Team finding out/pink/blue/green: Finding out August 1, hopefully!
Baby is the size of a(n): newborn hat? The other day it was a soda can. Something feels a bit off with these comparisons...
Upcoming appts: end of July for a check in with our ob, August 1 for the anatomy scan
How are you feeling?: mostly great. Today maybe the heat got to me? I was worn out from the second I got up.
Rants/Raves: I'm enjoying figuring out ways to get everything this kid needs used/secondhand. It's a real personal mission. I'm pretty frustrated by all the pregnancy marketing and encouragement to buy and buy and buy. Anyone else feeling this way?
GTKY What shows are you into? We've been watching years and years, which is bizarre and pretty good. Also, re-runs of Seinfeld. It never gets old for me.
@brrrrrrrrie yes I know what you mean about the mass consumption...I am trying my best to be as minimalistic these days as possible. Our budget is a bit tight so I get nervous about purchasing, plus I enjoy thrifting anyway. Which brings me to another point: baby registries. My friend who is pregnant sent her shower invite and I could NOT BELIEVE that amass of junky toys and unnecessary baby gear she has on hers. I think I have like 5 "toys" on mine so far. I am being strict with the "no plastic or noisy" toys on ours...trying to find things that will last (wooden toys etc.) and go onto the next baby one day...also things that will be cherished rather than thrown away or break in a year.
Find a good second hand/thrift store for baby stuff. I buy so much at the ones around us. All the clothes unless there is something super special I want. Even toys and gear. Saves lots!
We're starting to put together a registry on SoKind, which doesn't link to actual stuff to buy, but you can put links to things you'd like to get new or secondhand (or gifts of time, like cooking meals after baby's birth or offers to babysit). We know we need loads of baby clothes and blankets, so we're asking for people to look for things secondhand and they can "claim" it on our registry. This description probably doesn't make a ton of sense, but I'm a big fan of the service, especially because we really don't care what the baby's wearing... just as long as it has something to wear! We're also asking for people to make things for us for those who are crafty (blankets, hats, and so on). I like that there are ways for people to contribute for little to no cost. Anyway, maybe worth checking out!
@brrrrrrrrie that’s so cool about SoKind! I know on Babylist you can put notes in and my friend noted on a lot of her stuff they were happy to take secondhand.
I am trying to make sure the stuff we are buying can also transition and be used for years vs a few months. I found an activity center baby can go in, that then converts to a table they can use for arts and crafts once they’re older. I was like YES! that’s the kind of thing I feel good about spending $ on. I love that it seems like we have a super conscious group that doesn’t want to be wasteful!
@Stac928 yes! I just started volunteering at a local thrift store and there is so much there for babies! I'm going to keep an eye out for consignment sales. Maybe at the end of the season?
@anniemarie887 totally agree. It makes me feel way better to buy things that are durable and meant to be used for more than a few months. We got a used crib that converts to a toddler bed and I know I can pass it on to someone else when we're done with it because it's really solid.
@brrrrrrrrie Our biggest ones are through Just Between Friends and happen fall and spring usually. Not sure if that is a nationwide organization or not.
Upcoming appts: Turns out that ovarian cyst didn't shrink or stay steady - it grew. A lot. So its got to come out or there's a real risk of needing emergency surgery later which risks premature labor. My OB referred me to a specialist to do laparoscopic surgery to get it out. I met with the surgeon yesterday for a consult. Surgery will be next week Friday 7/19. Then I'll have a follow up with my OB the week after and a follow up with the surgeon on 7/31.
How are you feeling?: I feel physically just fine. And more importantly, the baby is 100% doing well. The stress from thinking about the surgery, regular baby stuff an a particularly busy period at work has me just utterly exhausted and mentally drained. I feel very confident that surgery will be just fine and I'll get everything else in my life taken care of. But building up that confidence has taken it out of me. In a strange way I'm looking forward to the week off of work after surgery for some forced chill out time.
Rants/Raves: Rave: My husband, work and family have all been so wonderful taking as much pressure off me as possible with this surgery. Its so busy at work and even though I know its a pain for everyone that I'll be gone for a week the only thing I've heard from my boss or team is "how can we help?" My mom is going to fly out and hang with me while I recover so my husband only has to take one day off of work. And my husband has just been the sweetest for everything. Rant - totally separate from surgery, but daycares - ugh! Even ones we've toured that we hated have been full until August 2020 and still very expensive. There must be some really tough licensing requirements around daycares for infants because there is clearly way more demand than supply.
Questions: None today - I've already learned too much lately!
GTKY What shows are you into? This summer its Big Little Lies, John Oliver and Alone.
Are any of y’all feeling movement? I think I got poked a few times Tuesday night, and today I just feel weird. A couple jabby type things and then almost like a stomach rumble, but not. This is by far the weirdest thing I’m trying to distinguish along this pregnancy.
@anniemarie887 I've been feeling movement for about 2 weeks now (STM), but nothing consistent. most have felt like bubbles / low rumble or like waves / dancing. I've only had a couple that have felt like actual kicks or jabs. It's totally weird trying to figure out what's what.
@anniemarie887 I haven't noticed any movement, and I'm 17 weeks today. For sure no bubbles, and nothing that feels like gas. This is my first pregnancy, though, so maybe something extremely subtle is happening? It's hard to believe there is something the size of a pomegranate in my body and I'm completely unaware of it moving around!
@lucylivesinwa thinking good thoughts about your surgery! That's definitely unnerving, but better to have it out than to keep it in.
@anniemarie887 I have been feeling movement for a while now, but have had many pregnancies. But, it is still sometimes hard to be sure what is baby or not. And I occasionally still have days I don’t feel him all day.
Thanks all! I'll keep you posted on the surgery. I'm sure it will all be good.
Separately, I'm not feeling anything yet, but can't wait for that first time! I've got an anterior placenta, so it will probably take a while. @brrrrrrrrie - I too can't imagine having an unnoticed pomegranate moving around in there!

EDD/W+D: 17 weeks, due 12/19
Team finding out/pink/blue/green: Blue!
Baby is the size of an: pomegranate
@lucylivesinwa thinking good thoughts about your surgery! That's definitely unnerving, but better to have it out than to keep it in.
And I too think I felt a few little pops here and there this week so far, it's hard to tell so I dont get too excited lol

Separately, I'm not feeling anything yet, but can't wait for that first time! I've got an anterior placenta, so it will probably take a while. @brrrrrrrrie - I too can't imagine having an unnoticed pomegranate moving around in there!
