  • My dads girlfriend- oof. She’s so incredibly pushy. Anything I say about her will sound petty, but it’s evwrything all together. She just emailed me to say congrats on the pregnancy. This is the same woman who thought ‘everyone around my son needs a flu shot’ didn’t apply to her and DIDNT MENTION SHE DIDNT GET ONE UNTIL FEBRUARY.  I wanna write back and be like ‘thanks but you won’t be seeing us!’
  • Early last week we gave my parents permission to tell my aunts and uncles we are expecting. My dad started a Facebook message for his sisters and stepsisters where he also specifically requested that they not say anything/post on social media until we give the go-ahead, since we had a number of people we wanted to tell personally before we went public. One of my aunts never responded, which was a bit weird but not entirely out of character for her. Then a couple of days later it was her birthday, so I posted a happy birthday on her Facebook. She responded with "thanks and so happy for you as well." I kept trying to tell myself it was on her wall, not mine, and sufficiently vague that I could probably deflect it as having something to do with finishing my masters if anyone asked. But seriously?! Why is this something we are doing now?... 🙄

@mandk1233 my aunt did the same thing. I posted a pic of DD riding her balance bike and she responded "So cute...I heard your news from Grandma, congratulations! :) " DELETED! so frustrating.

  • @kiwi2628 Ugh that’s super frustrating about the flu shot. I hate when people don’t respect my wishes about that kind of stuff. It puts me, my kids and my mom (who watches my kids during the day and is a Type 1 Diabetic) at major risk. Totally not cool. This will be my first winter baby, so I’m pretty nervous about it being cold and flu season. Stay away from my newborn if you are sick, haven’t gotten your flu shot or washed your hands!! 😷
  • @leksiL so freaking frustrating! And this was on her wall, so I couldn't even delete it. I chose to ignore it until after we finally posted an announcement yesterday. Nobody said anything before, so I am hoping no one noticed.
  • I can definitely relate! DH and I announced to immediately family at my daughters 2nd birthday on 6/29. Then we reminded everyone it was very early and not to tell anyone. Well at my parents 4th of July BBQ, my sister’s boyfriend took it upon himself to announce it to the guests. Most were close family friends, but still... I was thrown off guard and had to recover quickly. He came up to me later and apologized saying he forgot it was a secret. I accepted his apology but I’m still a bit annoyed. Even if it wasn’t a secret, why would he find it appropriate for close family friends to hear the news from him???
  • @lanie1000 Was he drunk? That's like announcing someone else's promotion or engagement to a large group- even if it's not top secret, it's odd to take it upon himself totally unprompted. Not your news bro...
  • @craftywitch I know! It was so strange. I get that he’s trying to make himself part of the family...but that’s definitely not the way to do it.
  • @lanie1000 ugh! Wth dude?! 😳
