@flinstone-2 as sad I am for the weekend to be over, I’m definitely happy to be back in our routine especially for sleep. Your GTKY is so true. I have some anxiety issues and I know my mom does too but never talked about it. I was always ashamed of it and I want to make sure DD never feels like she needs to be.

@millpe I hope you guys get some kid free time! On my side we are the ones with the child that demands most of grandmas time 😬. I never really thought about how that makes it harder on my brother and SIL (except maybe not, since I usually end up with one of their kids if I don’t have DD)

@jennifer_louise yes to the TFAS grads. I’m so happy for them but will definitely miss them. Maybe it will make the thread easier to keep up with though (kidding). Your DD at the bday party sounds so sweet. It sounds like her birthday is coming up too? Did that make her excited for her party?

Any thoughts about this cycle? I really thought yesterday this was going to be it but now all of the symptoms I was spotting are gone and were replaced by AF cramps.

    Any questions? None this week!

Rant/Rave/Brag: Yesterday we had a birthday party for my grandma and I finally got the “4 generations” picture of my grandma, mom, DD, and me that I have been wanting basically since the day I found out DD was a girl. Other than that we had a great long weekend with lots of family time. DD started calling MIL by her “grandma name” which obviously thrilled MIL. She also now says her version of all 4 cousins names and I caught her pointing to a picture of my brothers wife and saying her name! I think all of the family time started making things click for her.

GTKY: This is such a great question. I had a wonderful childhood so I feel guilty saying that any part of it should have been different. But I think I want to keep DD from being involved in literally everything possible like I was and limit it to one or 2 things that she really enjoys. And let us have more family time to replace all of the running around. I don’t know how my parents did it honestly.

  • @flinstone-2 I break out every month because of stupid progesterone… however, hopefully it’s a good sign for you!  I always feel like a 15-year-old boy.

@millpe hopefully Florida will be a blast and you’ll get at least a little time to relax just you and your DH!

@jennifer_louise watching kids interact with each other is so hilarious!  My DD follows kids around and acts like she’s playing with them when they usually don’t even notice her haha

@bows22 sorry about the AF-like cramps.  That’s exciting to have the picture of 4 generations!  Also, when we moved back closer to family, my DD finally started learning everyone’s names and it’s so wonderful that she can actually talk about them now!

Any thoughts about this cycle? Not incredibly hopeful. AF is due this week, so we'll see....

    Any questions? Nope

    Rant/Rave/Brag:
DS is turning 2 on Saturday! We're having him a dinosaur party! He's been so fun lately with such a great personality!

GTKY: What is one thing you didn't like about your childhood that you want to change for your LOs? I was an only child and really didn't like it. I want DS to have at least one sibling.

    Month/Cycle?  14/6 now? maybe?

WTO/TWW?  will be on BC soon

    Ages of other child(ren)?  23 months (I won't say 2 until it's real!!)

Any thoughts about this cycle?  this is my hysteroscopy cycle and IVF discussion cycle so I'm ready to get in there and talk about the next steps

Any questions?  How often do you apply SPF50?  Like, I feel like a crazy person applying it so regularly but my DD has pretty fair skin.  I just don't know what I shooooould do... so I think I over-do it.

Rant/Rave/Brag: We went to the beach in our town yesterday to tire DD out before dinner and bedtime.  She was iffy about the water but kind of loved just being held in it and watching everyone play around her!

GTKY: What is one thing you didn't like about your childhood that you want to change for your LOs? I wouldn't necessarily say that it was something that I didn't like, but I played a looottt of sports and was very busy with them all the time.  So, like @bows22, I think I would want my kids to have a bit more actual free time.
Oh, also, since we'll be living near water, my kid(s) need to be significantly better at swimming than me haha
  • @flinstone-2 solidarity on your DS being up early today. DD woke up at least an hour earlier than normal, crying today. Also I agree with your answer about being open about mental health issues. I think it's so important to destigmatize mental health.

@millpe have fun in Florida! I hope you and YH are able to get some time to yourselves!

@jennifer_louise that's so cute about your DD at the party. I love watching how kids interact with each other.

@bows22 I'm glad you got your generations picture! I bet that turned out so nice! What a sweet memory to make!

@Kathryn0903 that sounds like such a fun birthday party theme! Are you doing a cool cake design?

@mokay19 I'm probably an over-applier with sunscreen but DD is a ginger like me and also has fair skin, so I'm extra paranoid about her burning. Her sunscreen says to reapply every 2 hours. I think I was pretty true to that on the 4th, especially after swimming.

Any thoughts about this cycle? I'm pretty sure I O'd last week based on CF. Given my very long and irregular cycles, it was much earlier than I expected and I've decided to start charting and temping. I downloaded FF and I also started reading TCOYF and am so happy about that decision. Anyway, I'm pretty positive I'm not KU this cycle since we had been being cautious with my wisdom teeth surgery scheduled for Wednesday of this week.

Any questions? Not really unless anyone has useful insight or advice for a newbie about temping/charting.

Rant/Rave/Brag: I think DD is working in cutting another couple teeth (the canines). She's been extra grumpy and clingy the last couple days, which is definitely not her norm. She's already been in time out 3 times this morning.

GTKY: What is one thing you didn't like about your childhood that you want to change for your LOs?  I can't really immediately think of anything off the top of my head.
  • @flinstone-2 My mom also sheltered us all too much from anxiety/mental health.  That was almost my answer too.  All 3 of us suffer from anxiety and/or depression, and I just wish we had been made more aware of it growing up!  Also, super impressed with your willpower not to test yet!  FX for a BFP in a couple of days!!!

@millpe You guys should definitely ask your MIL for a date night!  I hope you have the best, most relaxing time!

@jennifer_louise I definitely have some big time FOMO this cycle, but I'm also so happy for the ladies who have graduated!  We just hit our 1 year mark as well, so I feel you on that.  Hugs  <3

@bows22 I hate how similar AF symptoms are to PG symptoms!  I still have my FX for you, though!  Love that you got your 4 generations photo.  I have one with my grandma, dad, and DS and it's so special to me!  :)

@Kathryn0903 I hope YS has the best birthday!!!  2 has been such a fun age for us!

@mokay19 FX for a solid plan moving forward for you!  I reapply DS's sunscreen every 2-3ish hours, or after he has been swimming.  He also has pretty fair skin, but hasn't burned yet.  I also keep him in a rash guard shirt when he's swimming.  I feel like it helps with warmth a little bit, too.

@gingermama29 TCOYF is the perfect place to start, and that should answer the vast majority of your questions!  Let us know if you have questions as you read it!

  • @flinstone-2 Way to hold off on testing. Sorry about the crap naps and sleep. I think our parents’ generation was taught to hide mental health issues, but it’s so important to let people know it’s okay to get help.

@millpe Have a great vacation. Enjoy the steps. It’s such a great phase.

@jennifer_louise Sounds like the party was fun and adorable. We did have a lot of ladies leave us all at once. Hope we can all join them soon. Maybe we can all move over to April BMB.

@bows22 I’m so glad you got that picture. It sounds wonderful. My mom got so excited when DS started using the grandma name. And you can tell which grandparents he sees more, bc he still doesn’t use MIL’s name.

@Kathryn0903 Happy birthday to your little man. Hope the party goes well.

@mokay19 We do sunscreen before we go out and then reapply when he gets out of the water. I don’t know if we’re doing it right, though.

@gingermama29 Hope the teeth cut through soon. Canines are tough.

@shamrocandroll Sorry about the flooded basement. What a bad way to end a good weekend.

Any thoughts about this cycle? Ehhh.... honestly, neither of us have been in the mood to HIO lately, and I don't want to force it, ya know?  Not really sure what's going on... but I'm on CD 10 so I still have some time to get in the mood haha

Any questions? Those of you that have had an HSG done, what can I expect?  Any pain, cramping, discomfort during or after?  DH can't come with me (he's in a work outing all day) and my mom has DS... so I'm going alone :( And I find myself getting more and more nervous as I wait for 3:00pm to arrive.

Rant/Rave/Brag: What a great 4 day weekend!  It was so relaxing and chill.  DS was with his dad a lot so DH and I got to binge watch season 3 of Stranger Things!  We leave for Canada on Wednesday, I have to go for a work training so we are making a mini family vaca out of it, and we are road tripping (about 8.5 hours)!  I can't wait to watch DS explore Niagra Falls!

GTKY: What is one thing you didn't like about your childhood that you want to change for your LOs? How overly protective my dad was of me.  To the point where I lied to him about where I was going, who I was with or what I was doing.  My mom always knew everything (but told me if my dad found out she would play dumb) but I hated the stigma he had of "It's not you I don't trust... it's the boys".  I get it, I do, but at the same time have some faith that I can handle myself.... also, he knew ALL the people I was hanging out, none of them would have put me in danger.

I'll be back soon for tags!!

Any thoughts about this cycle? Not yet. Just trying to make sure we have good timing.

    Any questions? Not really.

Rant/Rave/Brag: DS is getting more independent now. He’ll play with his toys and get books for himself. He likes saying what’s on all the pages. He still likes us to read to him, but he doesn’t always require our full attention. It’s nice.

GTKY: What is one thing you didn't like about your childhood that you want to change for your LOs? My parents fight constantly. Like, I don’t know why they are still married they fight so much. When we were kids, they would fight in front of my brother and me and call each other terrible names. I basically didn’t know what a healthy relationship was supposed to look like. I often blame that for my awful abusive first marriage, because I just thought constant yelling was normal. I definitely don’t want DS to hear us fight all the time. I also worry about him spending too much time with my parents, because they still fight like that in front of us when we go over there.

@mercury94 Ugh, the fighting thing is so hard.  On the flip side, my parents would NEVER fight in front of us, so I grew up thinking married people always get along.  It sent some pretty unrealistic relationship standards.  I think there must be a middle ground somewhere.  We never yell or curse at each other in front of DS, but we do sometimes argue.

  • @kpearse99 I had my HSG like 4 days after having my initial RE consult. I didn't even think about it beforehand then I was filling out all the paperwork in their office pre appointment and started to get terrified. Every single nurse was really great and the PA who performed it talked me through the whole thing while it was happening. I even got to watch the Xray screen during. It got really uncomfortable at the very end right before the liquid spilled into my tubes. Once it did, there was instant relief. I think I only took one dose of a pain reliever and was good.

WTO/TWW? (does this require a TW? Im new to this group)  Currently mid miscarriage #3....seeing my OB next week and going to call a fertility specialist this week I think.

Ages of other child(ren)? 6 and 4 (both boys :)

Any thoughts about this cycle? out for July at least while I wait to see what happens next.

Any questions? So many and not even sure where to start.  Is it worth calling a fertility dr before I see my own OB? Can he run the initial same tests that a specialist would run? My head and heart hurt right now!

Rant/Rave/Brag: Tired of ranting so Ill rave that both of my kids are in camp this week and I get a little alone time while I ride out this MC. Happy to lay on the couch and veg a bit. That being said, the last 3 weeks having them home all day since school has ended has been great. We did lots of little adventures and had tons of lazy down time and in the midst of our fertility issues its been really nice just being with my 2 boys.

GTKY: What is one thing you didn't like about your childhood that you want to change for your LOs? I can't think of anything right now. My family is super close and we had a very good upbringing. There are more things that I want to emulate than change. One thing is my mom is super high strung and so am I. Have seen glimpses of how it affects my 6 year old and Ive been so focused on changing that.  I actually worked with a parent coach for a few months and it totally helped me change perspective on a lot of things.
  • @mercury94 yesss to another mass exodus to April! Like some others on here, sounds like MH & I need to get serious about getting busy this week (:

@shamrocandroll thanks, friend. 💜 I'll just keep all my fingers crossed that you don't have to hit the year mark! Most of all, I'm glad you're feeling optimistic! Hold onto that.

@flinstone-2 well, we were special unicorns last time around and got KU on the first try. We weren't even using OPKs or anything, just HIO EOD and blissfully ignorant of all the other TTGP stuff I've learned since then :/

@kpearse99 your road trip sounds sooo fun!! Keep us updated on how that goes with your LO.

@gingermama29 just to echo what everyone else said - TCOYF is the place to be for charting! Also, lurk or participate in the dailies and look at everyone else's charts. That's helpful for me too.

@mokay19 I'm with you there on the denial of my child getting older. I still say 2 even though she's only 3-4 months from being 3.

  • @jd614 So sorry for you loss.  A good general rule of thumb is a TW for loss anywhere except for TTCAL (which you should join in on... it's amazingly supportive), and a TW for living children (or just avoid mentioning them if at all possible) anywhere except for here.  I think you should go by your OB's recommendation as far as the RE referral goes.

  • @jd614 So sorry for your loss. From an insurance perspective, I believe it is best to let the OB refer you to an RE. FWIW, I have not been to an RE, but have done a lot of the testing you get there through my OB (HSG, day 3 bloodwork, SA, etc).

  • jd614  I'm so sorry for your loss! a lot of RE's do not require referrals. It also depends on your insurance and what you have coverage for. My OB referred me really early as I was anovulatory then having progesterone deficiency issues on medicated cycles. I was able to get a lot of testing done through my OB and I would knock out what you can with them before moving to an RE. For us, insurance covered diagnostic, but not treatment. So far we've had both DH and my blood work, SA, HSG and two appointments for less than $200 OOP. I have not been back because I have since ovulated on my own and my OB gave me progesterone. I think I'll give it a few more cycles before jumping over to the RE full time.

@Kathryn0903 happy early birthday to your DS! Have fun celebrating him this weekend!

@mokay19 I had this same question about sunscreen. We haven’t been in a situation where we have been in water for more than like an hour or so but Saturday we were outside (in and out of the sun) for about 6 hours and I reapplied around halfway through and DD didn’t burn.

@gingermama29 no advice for a temping newbie other than TCOYF which you have covered. Oh and that I started temping vaginally from the beginning because I have allergies and know that I sleep with my mouth open when I get congested

@shamrocandroll ugh I am so sorry you are hitting the 1 year mark (but obviously I hope this is the cycle for you!) and I cannot believe your basement flooded on top of everything else you have had going on. But glad that it seems like your appliances aren’t the problem!

@kpearse99 I’ll be thinking about you this afternoon! Let us know how it goes.

@mercury94 my DD likes to “read” her books to herself too. It’s so cute. Enjoy the new independence! DD is still pretty needy which I don’t mind most of the time except for when I just need like 10 minutes to do something really fast.

Will finish reading/responding later. Hope everyone is having a great day!
  • @shamrocandroll I worry about the  bullying DD might face in the future. Like you said, with the Internet and social media I feel like they never turn themselves off and get a break. It’s also a lot harder to monitor the bullying as well. I’ve actually been looking for books that can help in raising strong yet compassionate children.

@mercury94  I can definitely relate to the fighting! My parents fought all the time in front of me as well. For me, It had the opposite effect. I hate conflict/fighting  so I can sometimes stay quiet instead of speaking out.

@newmomtx06 I also reacted that way to my parents’ fighting. I hate conflict in my personal life and generally avoid it. I also get the thing with parents using the kid as a counselor. When I was a teen, my mom started complaining to me about my dad’s infidelity (Why are they still married?). It really messed me up too. Also, what part of Texas are you from? I’m from the DFW area, but current live in South Texas on the coast. ETA: I assumed you’re from Texas bc of the TX in your name, but just saw from your intro that you live in the Southeast, so maybe not.

@newmomtx06 It’s a much slower pace down here, which I like. None of that ridiculous traffic in my commute. Plus, there’s always a nice breeze off the water. But, I miss a lot of the conveniences from my time in DFW and Austin. I grew up in Fort Worth and then moved to one of the suburbs in middle school. It was definitely nice to be able to go to the zoo, etc. But, we are growing down here, so we’re getting more stuff to do.

  • @flinstone-2 Good luck testing if you decide to do so! Also, I'm sorry your DS isn't sleeping great at the moment. It's always so rough when they sleep great for months and then all of a sudden don't. Hang in there!

@millpe Have a wonderful vacation and what an exciting milestone for you and your DS. Those first steps are amazing to witness!

@jennifer_louise It sounds like your DD had such a wonderful time at her friend's birthday party. I bet she's super excited for hers!

That 4 generations picture sound amazing! I'm so glad you got to take it @bows22. Also, I'm sorry that you feel like AF is on the way. FX she stays away!

Happy almost birthday to your DS @Kathryn0903!

@mokay19 Good luck with your upcoming tests! I hope you get some answers soon. Have you tried rash guards while out in the sun?

Good luck with your wisdom teeth appointment @gingermama29!

    @kpearse99 YGPM re' HSG.

@mercury94 I loved when my DS started getting more and more independent as well!

@jd614 I am SO sorry that you're going through a loss. Take care of yourself. <3

@newmomtx06 Rough sleep is never fun! Hopefully, all goes better tonight.
