Here goes.... I don't celebrate the 4th of July. Too many black, brown, and LGBTQ people dying at the hands of the government to celebrate "freedom."

  • @MsIan I can certainly respect that! I personally find it odd that we spend lots of money to blow things up to celebrate our country. I like to spend it with friends and family!
  • I very much respect that @MsIan. I struggle with that this year. We are going to a party but for the person who throws it it’s also his birthday so that’s my (inadequate) excuse.
  • @Mslan I can respect that. For all its problems though (and every country has them) I really do love America and what we try to stand for. As a wife of a military man, I definitely have learned more about why we fight for what we have, and it's a lot. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. I'm happy to celebrate the anniversary of our initial freedom. But yes, we still have a lot of work to do for everyone to be "free" so I understand where you're coming from. That being said, I will definitely be enjoying bbq food and fireworks.  Though @biolprof I agree the amount of money we spend on explosives is ridiculous, but I love fireworks lol.
