Re: TTTC Check-in: 06/24/2019

  • Hi ladies! So I called my clinic to set up our FET cycle and I won't be having that until 9/10 due to some downtime and then the clinic being booked up. So I probably won't be participating too much for the next few weeks since I'm on BC for like... 45 days starting Wednesday. I'll still lurk and will probably chime in once a week or so.

QOTW: You have an unlimited supply of something for the rest of your life, what is it?
Definitely going with spa treatments lol. It's something I would love to do but it can be so expensive to do regularly. To be able to rotate between massages, Mani/pedis, and facials would be the best!

  • Hi ladies,

Hope everyone had a nice weekend! It was one of our first truly nice weather weekends this spring/summer (Happy Summertime too - at least for us, first day of Summer was Friday!)

Hubby and I went golfing again. Might be our new date night. I've only ever golfed maybe 3 times... so it's fun! And doesn't give me stress about impact during a TTC cycle!

So between golf, nice weather and being in the TWW I didn't check in too much last week. Hope everyone had ok weeks.

    @sara_tory how is your dad?

I called to schedule my Beta for tomorrow 1 day early as I have some spotting happening and just generally feel like I did at the end of last cycle. I did really well not symptom spotting this time around since I knew how I felt on the Progesterone the last time around it was easier to ignore "symptoms" since they weren't new!

@inthewoods23 - totally understand if you won't be on much! Hope that you're able to take a little break, enjoy some summertime and not think for a bit about TTC. I'm sure kind of stinks to think Sept is far away but it will be here before you realize! Sending some good vibes!

QOTW: I want to steal your idea @inthewoods23! That sounds blissful!

Let's go with something silly- hair elastics. I buy a million of them and they just disappear! Where do they go?!
    Me: 36 DH: 37 // Married: 2015 // TTC#1 Since: 2017 // PAWrents to 2 dogs: 6 yo female shepherd-malamute & 1 yo male weim/heeler mix // Dx: Unexplained endometriosis & adenomyosis 12/2020 // Rx: 2019: IUIx6 & IVF Retrieval Result: Abnormal/High Mosaic Laparoscopy/Excision - Surgery Sep 2021, Round #2 IVF Retrieval with new clinic - 2022

  • @inthewoods23 - seems like quite a while to wait for the FET, but then plus side it will be nice to have a bit of a “break” from treatment and just have your body completely recover from the retrieval before the transfer. Understandable why you would be stepping away a bit during this time; we’ll be thinking of you!

I’m also stealing your idea - unlimited massages, pedi/manis, etc. sounds absolutely heavenly!

@hithertorue - glad to hear you’ve finally had some nice weather and really getting into the golfing! Will be thinking of you tomorrow when you get your beta!! Yeah, I’ve been finding the second IUI TWW easier so far due to already knowing what to expect from last time. Not that I had any crazy symptoms, but I do remember last time having some cramping which I was hoping was implantation. I experienced it again, but not putting as much stock in it compared to last time.

@knockupthestock - sorry to hear about your BFN. It sucks! Hope this last round of meds with TI is the cycle for you so you won’t have to move onto IUI!

QOTW: Is it bad that the first thing that came to my mind was good quality eggs? *eye roll* A close second was candy and chocolate. I have quite the massive sweet tooth.

AFM: IUI #2 went well overall. However, it took a long time to find my cervix again. It actually took two nurses to finally find it and had quite a bit of discomfort with them trying to find it. I have to say I’ve been very happy with the nursing team so far at my clinic. They’re empathetic, but also have a good sense of humour. When the nurse left the exam room, she told me jokingly, “Hope to not see you again.” Like, yeah, I would love to not be back here lol. Now just in the TWW. I have my beta on July 5th.
  • @knockupthestock - so sorry just realized I missed your last update. Sorry to hear about your negative. I hope AF hurries up this time so you can just move into the next try. Take some time for you guys and feel free to vent to us if you need to! Super frustrating!

@sincethelastday - I always appreciate some good humor in this process! Lol the nurses offered me a job at one of my last appts when they were swamped and I had the family get togethers to go to lol we had a good laugh. It's so needed in this emotionally taxing process! FX the rest of your TWW is relaxed as well.

@knockupthestock I'm really sorry about your BFN. Hope you are taking extra care of yourself this week.

@savethelastday I'm glad to hear your IUI went well! It's really great you like and trust your nursing team at the clinic, it it makes something that feels so weird and invasive so much more endurable. What are your plans for distraction during the TWW?

@inthewoods23 I think it's good you have the summer to rest and recharge! Enjoy the downtime :)

@hithertorue I think it's really good that you and your husband have found something you enjoy doing together that takes your mind off of things. The summary weather has helped to lift my mood as well, we went for a walk on the beach yesterday which was really nice. I'm sorry that you feel like AF is coming, I hope it doesn't!

Thanks for asking about my Dad. He had a procedure that has improved symptoms until the surgery. The pain seems down and he got out earlier this week. I'm feeling less stressed about it now.

We decided not to really try this month so there isn't a two week wait and it's more restful. My husband took a few days off work and it's been nice to go to the beach and relax at home. I'm trying to keep distracted :) I'm following along here and will check in.
Fx for everyone on a TWW!

  • @inthewoods23 Best of luck with your treatment!

@hithertorue Glad you're able to find something to enjoy with your hubs, especially during the 2WW. I hope AF doesn't come for you.

@sincethelastday Best of luck with the rest of your TWW! July 5th is almost a week away.

@sara_tory Glad to hear your dad is doing better, and that you and your husband are having some R&R!

AFM: I got a job! I'll be starting on July 8th. DH is waiting to hear back after his third interview, but was told HR should get back to him in the next few days. Still no buyers on the house, but we'll probably drop the price to sell once my husband gets a job offer.

I was able to find a highly rated fertility clinic in my new city (St. Louis) and have already sent them a message asking them about their IVF program. We'll see what happens, though I don't really want to start on any medicines that would affect my running until October (after my last planned half marathon).
  • @inthewoods23 I hope you can enjoy this bit of a break until the next round starts!

@sincethelastday FX this is the one! Sounds like a good nursing team even if they struggled. I love people with some humor in all of this.  Sorry to hear about the discomfort but hopefully worth it.

@knockupthestock sorry to hear about the negative... those are always hard.

@sara_tory glad to hear your dad is doing better. I hope you can really rest and enjoy some nice time with hubby.

@chiblackhawkie CONGRATS on the job!! That’s great news! I hope a buyer comes along soon for the house. Also good that you found a fertility clinic etc.

@hithertorue glad your enjoying time with your hubby — any update on AF? Hoping maybe you didn’t get it after all.

AFM: kinda a mixed up emotional few weeks. Took a trip with my mom which was awesome. Did a great job not thinking about it at first but then conversation kept going to “when we have kids” and “families” etc. My mom knows my whole struggle and tries to “think positive” all the time which is nice but can also help get my hopes up. Got to cycle day 38 and was feeling super sick so started really thinking maybe this was it... sick was just weird coincidence or something because got AF on day 40, which was a bigger let down than normal because I had really started to have hope. So... back to treatment, clomid, follicle check, and trigger shot this month.

QOTW: if I could have an unlimited supply of anything it would be chase travel points — good for airlines and hotels it would allow me to really feed by travel bug!! (No big international trip for me this year because all my money is going to trying to get that elusive BFP).

  • @2dogsmom AF is always a let down! Totally agree on the airline points! I'd love to travel too but flights can be so expensive! It's always the getting there part that's hard on the wallet.

  • @inthewoods23 exciting that you have your transfer scheduled! September will be here before you know it :)

@hithertorue how'd your beta go? FX for you! That's so awesome that you and your husband have found a fun date night in golfing! Hopefully that can bring some fun and help you destress in this crazy process.

@sincethelastday sorry your IUI was a little rough and painful! I'm glad you like the nurses at your clinic....that makes all the difference. Hope your TWW has been going well and continues to go well.

@sara_tory so glad to hear your dad is improving! And the beach sounds fantastic....I hope your break has been going well!

@chiblackhawkie congrats on the job!! FX for your husband's job too, and the house selling. St. Louis will be cool! I'm still so impressed that you run half marathons....so epic! Glad you found a new clinic in St. Louis and hope they're a good choice for you.

@2dogsmom sorry about AF :( and family things can always be hard especially when the topic of children comes up. I feel like we've had similar weeks, so while it's unfortunate, know you're not alone and we can support each other! On to the next try :)

AFM: thanks for all of your support, ladies. It means a lot! I had a few days of spotting until AF finally came so I called the clinic for my baseline US for the next day.....but then by the next day I was just back to spotting, and now, two days later, I've basically stopped. Kinda weird. At the baseline US they found a pretty big cyst on my right ovary, so they did some blood work to make sure my E2 wasn't too high. Luckily it wasn't, so we started another round of Clomid and letrozole yesterday.

    *Time for a rant*
My mother-in-law sent a message to the family chat group of a drawing she did of her "whys"....her representation of why she does what she does, what her motivation is, etc. In it, she drew stick figures representing her and her husband and then all their kids, and then stick figures for her future grandchildren, so each of her kids had a number of children. For my husband and me, she drew 5 kids. I had to roll my eyes - since we started our infertility journey, she hasn't quite gotten it or understood it .For example, once we were talking about it with her over the phone, she went off on how it was so hard for her to have four kids back to back, and how she was so angry when she found out she was pregnant with her third kid. Like, that's not stuff you say to someone praying for a BFP. But I digress. Anyway, back to her "family portrait", I replied to her message "you do know I'm 30 and infertile, right??" And then my husband was like "ya, do you know how much IVF costs? If you want us to have five kids, y'all better start saving up now, cause we can't afford that many." And then my father-in-law says "oh, $10,000 is so worth it for a grandkid!" Btw, he's unemployed, so it's not as if he can just pay for all the treatments. So ya, that was a little frustrating and annoying. Luckily I wasn't too hormonal and could just roll my eyes at it.
*Rant over. Thanks for letting me vent.*

The few days following our BFN was rough. I would just cry at the most random times about how mad/sad I was that my body just won't work. But I'm doing okay now. Today in church the topic of the talks given was patience, and that helped me a lot. So on to try #3! #thirdtimesacharm ☺️
