Re: Group 4 Check In (DD 12/25-12/31) wo 6/10

  • Est Due Date/Weeks + Days: 12/28 / 11w 2d

Baby is the size of a(n): Lego man

Upcoming Appointments: 6/18 for NT so I get to see baby again!!

How are you feeling?: I'm still exhausted and just generally feeling blah. Get spurts of energy at night so try to get as much done during that time as possible.

Rants/Raves: So I have a rant: before I found out I was pregnant I did my routine yearly physical with my PCP and some liver blood work came back off and we've been trying to figure out why. Fast forward to last week and I get the results of my liver/abdominal ultrasound that shows my liver is fine but I have a growth on my kidney. Since I am pregnant my PCP says I need to go to a kidney doctor but they are taking forever to even read my referral and set me up an appointment. I just want to get this figured out and taken care of so it doesn't cause problems with my pregnancy. Thankfully I am not showing signs of anything wrong with my kidney but knowing that something is there that is not suppose to be is driving me crazy. Oh and we still have not told our families we are pregnant but were planning to after my next ob appointment but since they are all worried about my kidney I really don't want to add to their worry by telling them that I am pregnant too. Thanks for letting me vent.

    Questions:

GTKY: Whats your favorite family tradition? Christmas eve party at my aunts and ended it by having hot chocolate in my uncles shop. Sadly we moved a few states away from family a few years ago so I haven't got to do that but my husband and I have a smaller version with DS now.
  • Est Due Date/Weeks + Days: 12/24 11+6

Baby is the size of a(n): strawberry

Upcoming Appointments: Thursday is NT scan

How are you feeling?: So, so tired. Vomit count has increased slightly to 3x now, which is still way better than my last pregnancy.

Rants/Raves: Job hunting SUUUUUUUUUUCKS. The End.

    Questions:

GTKY: What's your favorite family tradition? For Christmas every year as kids we would get new pajamas to wear on xmas eve, and we'd get a new ornament every year so that by the time I moved out, I had my own collection of sentimental ornaments. I've been doing the same for my son since he was born, and will keep it up.

  • It's my first check in! I'm excited to be here.

    Est Due Date/Weeks + Days: 12-30 // 11+0

Baby is the size of a: Brussels sprout

Upcoming Appointments: NT scan on 6/19

How are you feeling?: I am feeling pretty well. Nausea and vomiting were frequent in early first trimester with this pregnancy, more so than with my first, and I'm glad that's mostly subsided. I'm experiencing shortness of breath and allergies/congestion and some round ligament pain. I feel better on days that I'm active; I look forward to jumping in on the exercise thread.

Rants/Raves: I am still wearing my pre-pregnancy jeans! They likely won't button a lot longer but I worked hard to lose a bunch of weight last year and I have struggled with the idea of more body changes, and I'll be happy to wear them while I can. We're also expecting our NIPT results back this week. I have everything crossed for a healthy baby, and we can't wait to find out the sex.

Questions: What is your favorite maternity wear for summer, particularly shorts and pants? My DS was an April baby and all of the maternity clothes I own are for fall/winter. I've purchased a few pairs of elastic waist shorts and jogger-style pants — but I'll need more specific maternity items soon.

GTKY: Whats your favorite family tradition? We have developed a few family traditions that I love. We watch a movie as a family together every Saturday morning, and we have since DS was brand new. Speaking of holiday traditions, I'm excited to continue an old tradition in a new way this year. It's likely this D19 babe will come by RCS on Dec. 23. My H and I have a tradition to have a special dinner + Home Alone 2 on Christmas eve; our hospital offers a catered celebration dinner for new parents and we were talking recently about having that and watching the movie on 12/24 with our new addition.
  • @suitablepurple
I wasn't too far into summer with my 1st pregnancy, as he was born end of June, but I found (and heard from other moms who were pregnant in summer) that loose casual dresses were the most comfortable. And I say that as a person who lives in jeans 99% of the time.
  • @suitablepurple My daughter was born in August and dresses were my go to with her. I had some maternity dresses, but most were empire waist or flowy cotton dresses. If I wasn't in a dress then I was in maternity leggings and a tank top. I had a pair of maternity shorts but didn't wear them frequently because I felt like all the maternity shorts made me look like I had a saggy butt.
  • Est Due Date/Weeks + Days: EDD 12/28 11w3d

Baby is the size of a(n): Plum

Upcoming Appointments: OB appointment on 6/17

How are you feeling?: I think I'm on the upswing. I am still nauseous, but really only when I let myself get too hungry. A little sore from RLP, but pretty good overall.

Rants/Raves: I have been in the interview process for a new position at work since February.  It feels neverending at this point.

    Questions:

GTKY: Whats your favorite family tradition? Christmas Eve dinner at my in-laws with all of DH's sisters and their SOs. Everyone always gets to open 1 present, which is usually pajamas to wear that night.
  • Est Due Date/Weeks + Days: 12/28, 11 weeks 3 days

Baby is the size of a(n): lime

Upcoming Appointments: end of next week

How are you feeling?: Better, physically. Less nausea which is great. But my heart hurts. **TW** My cousin's wife and I were due the same day, and I found out she miscarried yesterday. My first loss was at 12 weeks exactly and I know how frustrating and confusing and painful it is to lose a baby, especially when you're so close to the "safe zone". I'm not close with her, they live states away, but I do plan on reaching out to my cousin in a few days to offer condolences. His sister is also pregnant, and we were excited to have a whole group of cousins born so close.

    Rants/Raves:

Questions:  Those with other kids, this may be a weird question, but when your kids brush your teeth, where do they stand/sit? My husband had shot down both stools I have, and I was sitting DD on the toilet seat but he doesn't like that either. It seems so simple but I don't know where to put her!! She's 2 next month.

GTKY: Whats your favorite family tradition?  My husband's family loves big family game nights, which are so fun. Every Christmas tradition my family has are so simple and nothing special, but I love trying to make my family's day just as special.

@suitablepurple my DD was born in July, and I still wear my shorts from Motherhood Maternity, pregnant or not.  Super comfy and have held up well! Those and just basic tanks were my go to. As for dresses, Old Navy has simple cotton tank swing dresses that are awesome at hiding the bump at the beginning and comfy!
  • Est Due Date/Weeks + Days: 12/26 11w 6d

Baby is the size of a(n): poker chip, brussel sprout

Upcoming Appointments: 6/26 for genetic counseling, 7/9 Ob, 7/15 growth ultrasound

How are you feeling?: emotional with my NT results. But we are going to have to stay optimistic and hope we just got a bad result that turns out to be normal.

Rants/Raves: DH is a rockstar of positivity.

    Questions:

GTKY: Whats your favorite family tradition?: summer vacation with my mom, Christmas Eve elf brings pjs and a movie, and Christmas Day is staying hime
    ME: 34
    DH: 37
    DD: 03/17/17
    DS: 12/06/19
  • Est Due Date/Weeks + Days: 12/26 11w6d

Baby is the size of a(n): Reese cup

Upcoming Appointments: Just had my second midwife appointment, heard the heartbeat (!) and got the results back from our NIPT testing which were all negative. Now we wait until July 4 and an ultrasound in 6-8 weeks

How are you feeling?: Hearing the heartbeat and getting negative screen back feels really good. I am still slightly anxious, but that's to be expected. I guess it feels weird that there aren't really anymore tests in the mean time. Nausea isn't too bad anymore, although I did throw up for the first time yesterday after brushing my tongue 😂

Rants/Raves: all I want to wear are maternity leggings

Questions: do you want to the know the sex of your baby - why or why not?

GTKY: Whats your favorite family tradition? I also do the pjs on Christmas Eve which has really tapered off since I'm an adult - super stoked to start it up again. Other fave would be my SIL and MIL and I painting our nails and watching Christmas movies.
  • @maggiemac15 I usually have my 23 month old brush his teeth when he's in the bathtub. Or he has a kids electric toothbrush in our bathroom that he likes to "play with" while I'm getting ready in the morning, but I just give it to him without toothpaste. His dentist actually recommended not using toothpaste yet, especially not the fruity flavours and stuff, so that later on he doesn't refuse to brush without it.

And I second the swing dresses at Old Navy, I just bought a bunch because they are perfect for hiding the bump at first!

@mecoats Fingers crossed for your next test

@jandawg Personally I could go either way on knowing the sex, but my husband really doesn't want to know, so we're not finding out. We didn't find out last time either, and it was kind of exciting waiting for the surprise. But I know some women find they bond better with the baby knowing ahead of time what sex they are and being able to call them a specific name.
  • Hi all, this is my first post here, i'm super excited to jump in!

    Est Due Date/Weeks + Days: 12/31 11w 2 d

Baby is the size of a(n): fig

Upcoming Appointments: had ultrasound and new OB appt yesterday (previously working with a fertility specialist to week 10), first time hearing the heartbeat was awesome!

How are you feeling?: massive headaches and general nausea, although that part seems to be getting a little better.  No specific cravings or turn-offs but VERY picky in the moment.

Rants/Raves: i'm not really showing yet but i just feel chubby.  We had to go through a few rounds of IUI treatments and the doctor recommended no working out other than walking.  I had been doing a cross-fit type gym 4-5 times per week so  I just feel really unhealthy at the moment.  My new doc gave me the all clear to rejoin the gym (with restrictions) so looking forward to that in July!

    Questions:

GTKY: Whats your favorite family tradition
I feel like we don't have a lot of specific traditions, but we're very close with both mine and my H's family so we see them all fairly often, which is great!
  • @Casadena - welcome!

@CapricaAndrea - thanks for the input. I don't really want to know and the more I think about it the more excited I am for it to be a surprise. I also am medium concerned about people really gendering the baby before they arrive...no solid pink or blue for me.
  • @jandawg gendered gifts was actually a pretty strong motivator for us too. We knew we wanted 2 kids, so gender-neutral newborn items means they're even easier to re-use a second time around! Not that I wouldn't put my son in pink clothes (he has a crocheted pig hat that he loves!) or a daughter in blue clothes, it was just easier this way.
