NEWCOMERS:To be added to the Weekly Checkin, please answer the following:
1. How long have you been TTC?
2. What is your diagnosis?
3. What is your treatment plan?
Re: TTTC Check-in: 06/10/2019
@hithertorue - glad that veteran nurse was there during your appointment. Boy, you have not had an easy ride with the nursing team there. Hopefully the more experienced nurses can whip this young one into shape! I can understand why you would be feeling disappointed with the one follicle, especially having more last time. I have read that some REs believe that one to two follicles is best for IUI to prevent the possibility of multiples and that some clinics actually aim for only one (or two max) for IUI. It’s interesting how different some REs and clinics can be with what they aim for. I’m rambling now, but I hope all you’ll need is just that one follicle and that it will be your lucky number one!! Saying all that, I can definitely get where you’re coming from and don’t think you’re reacting in any way that I wouldn’t probably be acting as well. Hope your family get together went smoothly with no nosy questions!
@sara_tory - really hope you didn’t get AF!!! What a double whammy that would be, getting AF and then also a colonoscopy!!
@inthewoods23 - I can’t imagine what that must feel like having that many follicles! But how exciting!! If you are doing your ER tomorrow, all the very best luck!! Let us know how it all goes and hope they get a ton of great looking eggs!
@nancinator - hope life is treating you well and you’ve been having some relaxation time before you start IVF meds. Also, love Killing Eve! I’ve yet to start season 2, but love the dark humour in that show!
@littleredm - hope your follicles are continuing to grow and grow!! They sure are taking their sweet time, aren’t they? Sucks with the fact that that probably means an increase in costs for more meds. Hope this is the only bump in your IVF road!
@chiblackhawkie - hope the TWW is treating you nicely so far! Any update from the recruiter or any house offers? Props to you for dealing with so much at a time and staying sane! I don’t think I’d be able to do it. We’re just planning soon on painting our bedroom and tearing out the carpet and I’m already stressing about it lol.
@optimism3 - totally get where you’re coming from with giving yourself some space from the board to prevent symptom checking. Thanks for dropping in with well wishes (that’s very sweet!) and hope your beta brings wonderful news on Wednesday!
@knockupthestock - I haven’t heard about the red dots before. Glad that they’re not giving you any trouble, but I would check with your doctor to get some answers. Perhaps, like you said, they’re just a weird, little side effect from the drugs or hot flashes. Hope the TWW has been going by fast for you!
@cigaline - been thinking of you! Hope things have only been going well for you! When do you have your second test?
(I think that’s everyone - sorry if I forgot anyone!)
QOTW: I used to enjoy going to my in-laws’ cabin for stints at a time, however they just sold it, so that’s no longer. Just going for long walks outside with DH is lovely. I have a local farmer’s market near my house so I really also enjoy going there early mornings for fresh produce and baking.
AFM: have my US on Friday bright and early. I hope people aren’t so pushy and rude as they were last time with cutting in line. Otherwise, just ready to get IUI#2 underway.
I’ve been having a hard time getting out of this funk of feeling crappy since I got my period. I’m not super upset, like crying all the time or really distraught, more just miserably numb and fed up with infertility. Tired. That’s what I am. Just miserably tired of this already. *TW* What also hasn’t been helping is a good friend who got pregnant a few months ago has been pretty much ignoring me since she announced she was pregnant. She has known about my IF for years now and, although she has never been terribly supportive, she still asked me about it here and there. I listened to her endlessly go on about TTC for the 5-6 months it took her to get pregnant. I spent a lot of time supporting her when she had a miscarriage right before she fell pregnant this second time around. She would usually text me quite often about little and big things, but since announcing her pregnancy she has gone pretty quiet. I have a sense that she feels awkward around me now that she’s pregnant and I’m not. The fact that I’ve asked her a lot about her pregnancy and she hasn’t asked one thing about how I’m doing just hurts more than I thought. She’s always been quite self-centered, so it really shouldn’t surprise me that she’s acting this way. I could talk to her about it, but I stubbornly feel like she should be approaching me instead of me bringing it forward. And, as I said, I just feel so tired of IF lately that approaching her just would take more emotional energy than I’m willing to give right now.*end TW*
Thanks for letting me rant and rave, ladies. I truly do not know what I would do without this community of amazing women!! *Hugs all around*
@optimism3 yes a little space can sometimes helpful even though it’s great to have a good supportive group here!
@chiblackhawkie thinking about you with the TWW and all the other craziness in your life right now. Hope it’s all going well.
@sara_tory I totally plan things around my cycle now too... and I can ALWAYS tell anyone what day I’m on etc. ... just kind of always there as a part of day to day planning. FX for no AF for you.
Everyone else hoping all is going well. Sounds like progress with treatments!
AFM: No meds this month was frustrating but kind of a nice break. I leave for a “girls trip” with my mom on Sat and so hopefully won’t be thinking about all this for a bit. Still tracked my ovulation this month despite lack of meds so some small part of me is hopeful but I know it’s highly unlikely. Nevertheless if AF didn’t show up while I’m on my trip it would be great regardless of the cause!
QOTW: As a kid we got to swim every evening at 7pm for an hour or 2 (my mom didn’t want us out in the heat of the day) then have ice cream and watch TV on her bed for an hour. It was only in the summer we were allowed to do that so it was special. Now as an adult I still have summer break (teacher) so I look forward to traveling and having some time to do all the things I never have time for!
@sincethelastday I really and truly know that tired feeling. That was me during AF this cycle to a T! Slowly started to fade as we got nearer to the IUI. Hope yours fades also,, but totally understand that feeling. It is honestly too much. And I'm sorry to hear about your friend. I have many "friends" and family who we have told about our struggles basically avoid us after we told them also - I think for lack of knowing what to say or fear of saying something wrong. Instead they don't reach out at all anymore and now I feel like I have to if I want to keep in touch and that is just so exhausting being the one trying to keep friendships and relationships together. I've decided its not worth my energy and have just let those friendships and relationships with those family members slide. There is too much going on for me as it is to worry about something so emotionally exhausting.
@2dogsmom I hope your girls trip is awesome and a good time away from the stress of TTC and wouldn't that be awesome to have a positive while away? Keep up hope and we will hope with you.
AFM: IUI #2 was this morning. Our clinic doesn't share the sperm analysis unless we ask for it so I didn't know last cycles numbers. I snagged a pic of the pre and post wash numbers this time round. As a reminder, we're dealing with low AMH and low motility (high viscosity) related MFI. The numbers to me looked really good.
Pre-Wash # (in brackets: standard):
Concentration 77.3x10^6/ml (>15)
Total Motility 42% (>40%)
Forward Progression 1-3 (>2)
Total Motile Count 97.5x10^6
Post-Wash:
Concentration 55.8x10^6/ml
Total Motility 92%
Forward Progression 2-3
Total Motile Count 25.7x10^6
I think I read somewhere >5million total motile is good. Maybe one of you ladies had said something? And then I read while I was lying there for my 15mins after that anything above 9million doesn't make a difference to increasing chances of success.
My scans looked good. My one follicle was 2.1 and endometrial 1/2 thickness was 0.97. I did have an immature follicle also coming along but won't be a mature size for fertilization as it is 1.2 today.
I also asked about coming in earlier this cycle for the beta. They said they'd book me 1-2 sooner than last time (15dpo) but I could always call if I really think my body is saying no like last time and come earlier. There is just a chance of it being low positive from trigger shot and needing another test a few days later to confirm.
I'll go back tomorrow to confirm ovulation and then they'll give me my beta test appointment. And hopefully not the same craziness as last time!!
QOTW: A new tradition for us is to spend the Canada Day long weekend (July 1st) at my sister-in-law's cottage with them and the kids and usually one or both of DH's other siblings and families. We swim and have bonfires, watch movies, fish and go into town for fireworks and icecream. Very relaxing. Sometimes a bit triggering with all the kids around. But pretty easy to relax with the lake there and disconnected.
@sincethelastday Hope you get out of your funk and good luck with your IUI!
@2dogsmom Hope AF doesn't show on your trip! I hate when AF is around on my trips. No one likes having to pack pads/tampons in their bags.
AFM, my egg retrieval went very smooth this morning. Very minimal cramping right now. It was a bit uncomfortable after waking up from the procedure. But we ended up with 24 eggs! Hoping to hear very soon how many are mature
ETA: forgot the QOTW! My favorite tradition has been our trip to northern WI with DH's family although in recent years it's gotten more annoying and irritating because of my SIL and her BF. If those 2 weren't around it would be a much more pleasant vacation.

@hithertorue From what I’ve read those seem like good numbers!! FX that it works!!
@hithertorue i'm glad the veteran nurse was with the newbie nurse this time! i totally understand your frustration with just one follicle....i've felt the same this month too. it's so hard to go through all this and just have what feels like one chance! but i'm grateful we have doctors who are committed to making our miracles happen and science to make things work when our bodies are being stubborn. i'm glad your IUI went well this morning and the numbers are looking good! FX for you. welcome to the TWW club for this month haha.
@2dogsmom i hope your girls trip is super fun this weekend! enjoy your break as much as you can.
@sincethelastday i'm so sorry it has been rough for you recently. I can understand the "tired of it all" feeling. you're doing better than you think you are! also, i'm so sorry that your friend is being that way. it sounds like she is just thinking about herself right now, which i can understand comes with a pregnancy, but she's really missing out on being a good friend and thinking of you and others that she can still be supportive of. people just get so awkward when it comes to pregnancy and fertility and babies, it doesn't make sense! hopefully your IUI is coming up soon and you get some good news to lift your spirits!
@inthewoods23 yay for a good egg retrieval! 24, woohooooo!! FX that there are lots of good looking ones that will be successful for you.
@sara_tory i hope your beta test went well! and if it didnt, i hope the colonoscopy wasnt too terrible. hope to hear from you soon!
@optimism3 good luck on your beta tomorrow!!!! FX
@cigaline i hope all is going well with you in these early stages!
@littleredm i hope your follies are growing!! i know how frustrating it is to do all those medicines and not have much growth. hang in there!
@chiblackhawkie how's the TWW going for you? i hope things are looking good on the job front and with your house!
i hope everyone else is doing well and finding something to smile about each day!
AFM: 10 more days til our beta test! haha. hoping the TWW isn't terrible. and apparently the little red bumps all over me is acne.....that's right, me, who has never had acne and barely had any zits in her whole life, now has acne covering my body to the point that it looks like chicken pox. that's one side effect of fertility treatments i didn't expect haha. we have a followup with our RE tomorrow so i'm planning to ask her what to do about it then.
the followup with her tomorrow is about a potential congenital malformation in my uterus that came up in a previous US. apparently my uterus appears somewhat heart shaped (or kind of like it has bunny ears), which could mean a uterine septum. they wanted us to continue going forward with treatment as oftentimes it doesn't affect the ability to get pregnant, it just causes miscarriage and pre-term labor.
*TW* i was at a work meeting today and the lady i was meeting with asked how long i have been married and then immediately was like "are you trying to have kids yet?!" i never know what to say to that, especially to a random person haha, so i kinda fumbled around my words and just blubbered out "we are actually seeing a fertility doctor because i cant get pregnant". and she was like "oh!! well i have hope for you!!" and pulls out her phone and starts telling me this long story of her daughters and how one of them has PCOS (like me) and they were seeing a fertility doctor and they finally found out two days ago that they were pregnant after their IUI. she was so happy and said "its just a little blueberry right now, but we are so excited!" haha. so what i thought would be a potentially really awkward situation turned out to be pretty sweet actually - it's always good to hear of people having good outcomes when they face the stuff we face! *TW over*
QOTW: i don't like summer that much because i hate being hot and i'm a ginger and i always get sunburned....haha. but every fourth of july growing up my family made this american flag cake...it was pound cake with whipped cream and berries, and we arranged the berries on top to look like the american flag, blueberries for the stars and strawberries for the stripes. it's this silly tradition that always stands out in my memory when i think of summers. now i want to eat some of it! haha.
dx: PCOS, hypothroidism
Second TTGP: started meds for first cycle of tx on 10/13/21
I got called in the early afternoon that of the 24 eggs, 17 were mature! We're doing ICSI so hopefully we get most of them fertilized!

@2dogsmom have a great time on the trip with your mom. Sometimes taking time off can feel like stalling but hope it's been good overall...and hope you can keep your mind off it during mother daughter bonding time. Easier said than done, I know.
@hithertorue it's good they are being more accommodating at the clinic. Numbers look good and glad the IUI went well! It's hard to lose relationships along this journey, but you're so right it's not worth the emotional effort to pursue fair weather relationships.
@inthewoods23 wow, so many eggs! Yay, that's awesome
@knockupthestock I'm sorry to hear you have to go in and discuss a potential new diagnosis. I remember going in to talk about PCOS and coming out with adenomyosis in addition... it's stressful to have to go and read and learn about another obstacle. I hope you get some answers at your appointment and some reassurance.
Glad your potentially awkward situation ended up being a nice moment!
AFM, I had a negative beta test. AF was late so I was really hopeful there for a moment
Had a bit of a meltdown because it was the closest I've felt to "maybe it's actually going to be positive this month".
My doctor is upping my letrozole to 7.5 so we hopefully get more follicles (usually only 1 per month so far). Starting tomorrow...
After the next IUI (#3) we are going to take a break and reevaluate. I feel burned out too this month from this process, like some of you have mentioned
I have an appt with the doc at the end of July.
First of all thank you so much for all the positive messages. I know it’s not particularly easy hearing some one else’s news (even after IF) and feeling the inevitable why isn’t it me this time. I so understand everything you’re all going through, it seems somewhat surreal to be ‘on the other side’ and feels a bit like having been in a long dark tunnel for ages and suddenly coming out into the light... thinking of you all and really hoping you don’t have to wait long to join me.
@sincethelastday really feel for you with being tired and fed up with it all. And so sorry your friend doesn’t have the guts to get past not knowing what to say and to reach out to you. It’s a real shame when friends let you down like that. Hope you have some other better ones to make up for it..
@2dogsmom enjoy your girls trip and time off!
@hithertorue wow, those IUI numbers look good! It was me who posted the study last cycle with those stats - I think the link may be in there as well with my post. Take care of yourself in the 2WW!
@inthewoods23 wow that sounds like an amazing number of eggs! Fingers crossed for you.
@knockupthestock sounds like you’ve been through a lot recently, hope the acne clears up quickly. Sorry to hear about the potential new issue. Hopefully the fact that they’ve picked up on it already means they’ll be able to manage it and anticipate problems later down the line. Nice to hear your sweet IF story - it’s surprising and touching when potentially intrusive questions turn out like that, shows we never know what the other person is thinking!
@sara_tory really sorry to hear about your negative beta. It’s so cruel when you get your hopes up like that. Really hope you’ll have a great reaction to the increased dose and the next one will be it!
Also thinking of @nancinator, @chiblackhawkie, @littleredm and @optimism3 and hoping you’re doing ok.
AFM *TW*
I got a call from the embryologist way sooner than I thought I would this morning. Of the 17 mature eggs, 15 have fertilized! I'm wondering if we're going to have like 10 embryos to choose from, damn! Next update is Friday on day 3.

@sara_tory sorry about the BFN
@cigaline glad the second beta went well! also glad you had a good time away, even though the weather was crummy. excited to hear about that US in a couple weeks!
@chiblackhawkie FX for you! glad you have the jobs and house to focus on in this TWW, even though it sounds like you have uncertainty about so much. work has been super busy for me, so that has helped the time pass faster. i was talking to DH today and said "8 more days til we find out!" and he was like "EIGHT?! that's so long!!!!" and sighed and fell back on the couch hahaha.
AFM: i just love our RE. she is so great. she reviewed the US and our dye test results and she doesn't think there is anything to worry about regarding a potential malformation! she said the 3D ultrasound that they have is new and she thinks the nurse practitioner who did the US just didn't read it correctly. so she said not to worry about that, and that she thinks my uterus is just fine. thank goodness! she is starting me on metformin as well - have any of y'all taken it? did you have any bad side effects? she said it has some nasty GI side effects so im hoping those are minimal. she said she's never really seen anyone have acne as bad as I have after taking clomid....awesome. haha. overall she said my ovaries take their time growing my eggs, but she's happy with the results we eventually get, so she wants us to stay on the letrozole/clomid/dexamethasone/metformin route if this month isnt a BFP.
so glad i have you wonderful ladies to share and support each other!

@2dogsmom - hope you have a lovely trip with your mom and that it’s a rejuvenating time without having to think about IF!
@hithertorue - that sounds like great results from IUI#2!! Sounds like so far it’s been a smoother process - I hope you don’t get any bumps along the rest of the road for this cycle and that you have a lot of pleasant distractions during the TWW.
@inthewoods23 - wow!! Those are amazing results!! Sounds like you have very good odds that you’ll have some great embryos to choose from! Keep us updated!!
@knockupthestock - what a relief that everything looks good with your uterus and that you can carry on with your treatment routine. What a scare though! I haven’t done metforim, but hope you don’t get any side effects from it (GI side effects suck!!). Good luck with these final few days of the TWW and hope this cycle is the one!
@sara_tory - so sorry about the BFN and just going through a rough time right now
@chiblackhawkie - hope you get some answers soon on either the job or home front (or both ideally)! Hope you’ve been able to fit in some moments of relaxation as well.
@cigaline
AFM: US is tomorrow. I’m a bit stressed out on two fronts. I’ve had light spotting a few days after the last day of taking Letrozole every time I’ve taken it, but this cycle I’ve had quite a lot more spotting and heavier spotting. I phoned the nurse yesterday and she didn’t have much to say about it, just to bring it up with the doctor tomorrow at my US. The other thing I’m stressed out about is DH is having to leave the city for a few days very closely to when I’ll be ovulating. So we’re going to be cutting it close to when he can provide his sample. There is the option of him providing his sample the day he leaves and the clinic can freeze it until I ovulate (if I ovulate late this cycle once he’s left). It’s $600 just for the freezing. The nurse recommended we just cancel the cycle if it comes to that point instead of spending the money on freezing. I may be crazy, but I think we would cough up the money just so this cycle wasn’t a waste. I think it would kill me more knowing we wasted another month than the thought of coughing up an additional chunk of money this cycle and still having a chance this cycle of getting pregnant. I’ve always been pretty cautious with spending money, but when it comes to fertility treatment I feel like so much of that caution has gone out the window, which does scare me a bit.
Phew! So glad you don't have that malformation! That is one less thing to stress about xx I have not taken metformin... only clomid and ovidrel. What is the purpose of metformin? I didn't notice any acne side effects after clomid but my skin is never perfect so it's hard to tell if something is infertility related or if I take too much fried food haha
Traveling for job interviews does sound hectic especially with the house showings ... I remember how exhausting it was trying to sell our apartment and constantly keeping it tidy. So much going on in life that I hope it is helping distract you from the TWW! When are you going in for beta?
That is epic! Are you doing the chromosome screening so you can find out the gender of the embryos?
I think it's uplifting to hear success stories and so happy that you're finally on the other side xx
Ugh totally know that feeling. So sorry AF came.
Those numbers do look good! Does your clinic do a comprehensive S.A. for each IUI cycle? I know mine provided the sperm count pre and post & maybe motility but I don't remember anything about morphology.
Have a relaxing trip!!
AFM... My IVF payment is due today and the timing is just awful. Last night my husband had terrible work-related news and I just feel guilty for spending this money. He said not to worry and continue but it's tough. I thought this year would be awesome and I'd get pregnant easily with IUI... womp womp. I know it's absurd but I really hope I'm pregnant with a miracle baby lol
@chiblackhawkie uncertainty IS the worst! Especially when you have it in so many aspects of your life. FX job and house stabilize soon and you get a great offer!
@nancinator so sorry to hear about hubby’s job news. And I totally get thinking things would work.... I was positive I’d be pregnant by now and planned accordingly....and like you I often still hope that somehow despite odds etc. I’ll be pregnant. I think that’s pretty normal for a lot of us. Hopefully things get better soon for you. Thinking of you!
@inthewoods23 wow that sounds very positive!! Hope tomorrow goes well.
@sara_tory so sorry about AF and the late getting your hopes up scenario. It’s so easy to get hopeful when AF hasn’t come. Hang in there!!
DH and I have already talked about what gender we'd pick first and we both agree on using a boy embryo. We have a niece so we like the idea of our first being the first grandson in our immediate family.

So sorry to hear about your own difficult news with your husband’s work! I’m also totally with you on feeling like past treatments were going to work. I already feel that way with IUI and I’ve only done one round of it (I swear I’m not as pessimistic as I sound). When do you start IVF meds?
@chiblackhawkie sounds like you're having unpredictability on all fronts, which I also hate trying to cope with. But I'm really glad to hear that you are getting some interest on the house and hearing back about interviews! Hope things start to firm up soon. I've been trying to work on letting go of things I can't control, not very successfully so far LOL, but I'm trying to remind myself of that serenity prayer, you know, the one about accepting what you can't change, having courage to change what you can and the wisdom to know the difference.
@sincethelastday the spotting does sound like the kind of symptom I would be worried about it too and I really hope the doctor can reassure you about it and why it's happening. I can relate to the drive not to have a "wasted month". I decided I needed a mental break this month but the fear of putting it off 4 more weeks meant I couldn't go cold turkey, so I'm doing timed intercourse instead. If it just gives you some mental peace and is financially feasible to do the freezing then I think it makes sense, especially if it's cutting it really close. I hope the timing ends up working out for you guys though this month!
@nancinator I'm sorry to hear about the negative work news for your partner. The fact that money has to enter into such a intimate personal thing like starting a family is such a hardship. I know we could only afford one round of IVF, and that's with government assistance in Ontario for all first IVF Cycles. Try not to feel guilty though because this isn't something that's your fault, and it's for both of you and the future you want.
having a long irregular cycle that would leave me waiting for weeks to start again and also just
Instead I'm taking a low dose of letrozole (it keeps me at a 30 day cycle instead of 45) and BD around the time I usually ovulate, day 16. So it's more a break from appointments, testing and procedures.
@cigaline glad that the second test confirmed the positive news
I went to the special pregnancy program (high risk) at the hospital today for a pre-pregnancy consult. I know this is slightly off topic for this forum but hope it's okay if I ramble on for a moment. It was really reassuring that they said they would follow me and make sure to put a team of doctors together to manage my pain conditions if/when I get pregnant. Previously, my pain specialist had said my file was 'inactive' until after pregnancy which had really freaked me out ("let the OBGYNs take it from here"). The doctor today said I shouldn't have my pain management abandoned, especially during pregnancy, and that he would liaise with the pain clinic and "have a chat with him". It's good to feel like you have someone advocating for you!
@nancinator the metformin helps with insulin resistance, so it can prevent gestational diabetes and help with weight loss. my RE said it also helps regulate ovulation, helps prevent OHSS, and helps the ovaries respond more to the letrozole and clomid, so overall its a really good drug for me to be on. i'm so sorry to hear about your husband's bad news about work and timing of the payments....that is seriously the worst. i'm sure once we have our LOs that the money will all be worth it, but it is crazy how expensive it can be! i hope you're pregnant with that miracle baby too!!
@sara_tory thank you! i'm glad you felt some of the weight lifted when you made your choice for this cycle. it is SO hard to accept that we can't control the outcome of these processes. for us, it feels like DH and I are doing so much to get pregnant, and then we realize it still literally is just to get us to that 20% chance. it feels so daunting! but take heart in focusing on what you can control and having faith for the rest, haha. and i am really glad that the pregnancy program has been helpful to you with managing your pain! it can be so frustrating to hear "oh, the other doctors will take care of that" when you're wanting help with your health. so i am so glad that you are being heard and respected and helped! you deserve it.
AFM.....ugh. so i got a call from the fertility clinic today and they want me to come in for another 3D US tomorrow to check for the uterine anomaly again....apparently their "specialist" with the 3D US is going to be in the office tomorrow and because the NP originally saw something (even though the doctor said it was nothing), they want to test it again with the expert there to help. we are still a week away from our beta, but we could be pregnant right now, so it scares me to have a transvaginal ultrasound when things are so delicate down there, you know? everything ive researched says its fine, and when i asked the NP she said it was fine, but it still makes me nervous. and i thought we had ruled out the uterine malformation, so now its suddenly back on the radar (no pun intended) which isn't fun. so i really hope they can positively confirm tomorrow that nothing is wrong.
i also started the metformin last night and (sorry if this is TMI) between 745am when I woke up and 915 am, i had already had diarrhea three times. yay for GI side effects! haha. they said it should get better the longer i take it, so FX that is the case.
thanks for your encouragement and support, ladies. y'all are the best.

Have been reading along this week but not much time to post. I have been exhausted this week. Which I experienced last cycle also after HCG shot and starting Progesterone. Been trying to get a full sleep in and go for some walks to try to keep my energy levels somewhat up. But I have to drag myself to start. Plus our weather here in Ontario, Canada has been cold and rainy a lot lately. Yuck!
Scheduled for my beta on the 26th but will call on the 23rd or 24th if I feel like I just want to get the test over with earlier like last cycle.
@nancinator - no our clinic doesn't do a comprehensive SA for the wash. DH's morphology was the low side of norm for the previous tests he had done. It was mostly viscosity and motility were the concern.
I'm sorry to hear about your DH's work news and such bad timing. Hope that it resolves. And honestly, we just had an acquaintance who got their BFP while taking a break before starting IVF as they tried to pull their funding together. So just believe it is always a possibility and at the same time know you're in the right place on the right path no matter what happens -- you're doing all the right things to help on your journey.
@sincethelastday -- hope you didn't have any rude obnoxious people with you at the clinic for US today. I also hope the dr was able to comment on the spotting you have been having. Sorry to hear about the news DH has to be away for work at the wrong time. I think @chiblackhawkie said it best: do what you feel in your gut to be right so you aren't regretting later. But also hard to look at expenses while going through this. Is seems like I'm spending money left right and center too and without a thought bc I have to, no choice (or so it feels)!
@sara_tory sorry again to hear about AF arriving, though somewhat a relief to not have to do a colonoscopy immediately afterwards. I was really happy to read you felt some relief after you'd decided to do a TI cycle as a bit of a break- that's a really great solution! And great news about your speciality appointment and that they're going to continue your pain management! Good news!!!
@inthewoods23 -- wow, such amazing results!!! Woohoo!!! So cool that you get to go and check out results and even see what genders... excited for you for your appointment next week. Does your clinic freeze or do fresh transfer? I assume that will be next cycle? I'm not 100% certain on the whole process.
@littleredm -- thinking of you and hoping you're getting closer as you WTO.
@chiblackhawkie -- thinking of you as you test tomorrow!! FX for you. And I hope regardless you have a great day on Sunday with DH!
@optimism3 -- I think your beta was Wed. Thinking of you too. FX.
@knockupthestock -- half way on your TWW. I laughed at your DH's comment! Mine is also much more in tune now that we are doing things through the clinic. Prior to that it felt like he was really only part of the BD "fun" week Hahaha! Hope your follow up 3D today went well. What a rollercoaster week you have had: Yes-No-Maybe. Exhausting! Also hope your side effects from the metformin have settled?
@2dogsmom - have the best time on your trip and FX no AF while you're gone!
@olivklau -- FX for you in your TWW. Hope you continue to feel better. Nothing worse than a non-winter cold!!
@cigaline -- hope you continue to have no symptoms during your "TWW" -- a different kind of TWW ahead of your next US!
Phew! Hope I didn't miss someone!
@olivklau hope you feel better soon from your cold!
@hithertorue sorry to hear about the exhaustion side effects. It's awful to feel fatigued all the time, and like you're dragging yourself around. And since I'm also in Ontario I can definitely relate to how the crummy weather isn't helping lift spirits or energy! Fx for your test early next week.
And thanks for the encouragement about letting go of what you can't control ladies, it helps to hear how you try and cope with it
Sorry I'm having a hard time following other people's stories so I can't comment on those 😬
@hithertorue our clinic only does frozen transfers, no fresh so I have time to prep myself. Obviously they want the best success numbers which is most possible when you know whether or not an embryo is abnormal or normal.

I also have thought of the serenity prayer during this journey with IF. I also read something once from an infertility blogger that has really helped me at times. She shared that what got her through treatments was knowing that, regardless of the result (having a baby or not), she knew that that period of her life would eventually end. She would not be doing IF treatments and just TTC forever. She would move past it and it would only be a small blip in the grand scheme of her life. I’ve reminded myself a lot recently that IF treatments will not define my life and that I have a lot more to life to look foreword to (and enjoy now). But, yeah, easier said than done of course lol.
Also, that’s great that your special pregnancy appointment went so well! It’s nice when doctors and health providers stick up for their patients!
@knockupthestock - no!! Not another ultrasound! As others have said, hope it confirmed once and for all that there’s nothing wrong and you can move forward. Also, sorry to hear that metformin hasn’t been treating you so nicely!
@olivklau - ugh, sorry to hear about your cold! Hope you’re starting to feel better! Hope it’s at least distracted your from TWW!
@chiblackhawkie - yeah, I think I’m going to listen to my gut on this one, even if my rational brain is arguing back. I had to wait so long to start treatment (it took a full year to get seen by my clinic from when my family doctor sent in the referral) and just other little delays here and there have made me so beyond eager to just push onwards with treatment cycle after cycle, no matter the cost (literally). Not to say that DH and I are made of money or anything, but I think we are feeling comfortable with spending this money if we really have to. Ugh, I hate money.
Good luck with testing tomorrow - will be thinking of you! I can relate with not feeling hopeful; it sucks, but unfortunately I think that’s a normal way to feel the more rounds of treatment you go through, especially when it’s the same form of treatment. Saying that though, I’m still going to hope so hard for you! Sounds like a smart move having such great Sunday plans!
@hithertorue - sorry to hear you haven’t been feeling great lately! And, yeah, crappy weather never helps! Hope you get some nice, sunny weather soon to lift your spirits and give you a boost of energy during the TWW!
@littleredm - also sorry to hear you haven’t been doing great lately. I can imagine the type of emotions that must be filling your time with starting IVF and having your ER so soon. Hoping your ER goes really well tomorrow and that you get lots and lots of eggs!
AFM: well, definitely had a better experience this time around with waiting for the US. I was the first person at my clinic and stood right beside the front doors to the building so I would be the first one in when the doors unlocked. Another woman came and then the third woman who came was actually the same woman who had been so rude and pushed ahead in the line last time. I tried the door once to see if it was unlocked and must have looked a little antsy, because the second woman commented that it was all good because l was first in line and all I wanted to say was, “Yeah, but this woman here doesn’t seem to respect that type of thing.” Finally the doors opened and I went through, followed by the second woman with no pushiness from the third woman. So maybe she learned her lesson.
The US went well. 3 follicles on one side and one struggling to catch up on the other side. The doctor said jokingly, “How many babies do you want?” I wanted to shout, “As many as I can get!!!” Lol. He also said the spotting was normal with some women with Letrozole, but did recommend that I give progesterone a try this cycle because apparently it can help with spotting. Also, just the added little boost of supporting a pregnancy if it happens. DH also booked a slot for freezing his sample if it comes to that. We can cancel the slot if we end up not needing it, so we can still make a decision about it later on, but at least we have a spot saved for us if need be.
And I had some time owing from work, so I took the afternoon off and DH and I are off soon for dinner at some outdoor cafe soon, so just looking forward to the weekend of hopefully some nice weather and relaxation.
@chiblackhawkie FX for your test tomorrow! and i hope y'all have a wonderful time on your Sunday fun day!
@hithertorue sorry you've been so worn out recently. that is the worst! i hope your energy picks back up soon. and i hope your beta goes well next week! our beta is the 21 so FX that we both have good news! haha, DH definitely loves the BD week as well, and is good and staying "involved" in that week...which is good cause my drive to BD is super low since taking all the medicines, so i need encouragement haha. he has been really sweet and wants to be super involved in things. he's been to every appointment, US, beta, etc. with me so far. he's darling.
@sara_tory i had a dental xray as well cause i had a filling pop out
@littleredm FX for your ER tomorrow! i hope you start to feel better physically and emotionally soon.
@inthewoods23 WOW! that is amazing!! i am so glad things are looking so successful for you so far.
@sincethelastday 3 follicles, and a little straggler! yay! good job follies!! that's great to hear. and i am so glad you had a better experience today compared to the last time. i am doing the progesterone as well, so i hope it works for you. its just expensive! at least it is for us here....cause they have to compound it for you. hope its not too pricey for you. your evening and weekend sound lovely! i hope you have a wonderful and relaxing weekend.
AFM: we went back for the 3D US today and they took loooootttts of images (my feet were in the stirrups so long my legs started shaking hahaha) and concluded that there is no malformation, that all they were seeing is fluid in my uterus, which they said not to worry about. so hopefully that is behind us!! the metformin didnt wreck me as much today as yesterday haha so hopefully i'm building up a tolerance. this time next week we will most likely have the results of our beta! i'm staying pretty hopeful this round. i had a dream a couple nights ago that i was pregnant with a girl and we named her Jane. it made me excited, so i had to temper my excitement and be like "it was just a dream! you dont know yet!" i'm trying to keep that balance of hopeful but not too optimistic. it's a hard line to walk! i have some practice though, as i didn't get married til i was 30, so i had to learn how to be patient and not give up and keep hoping a good one would show up eventually, haha, and he did and it was so worth the wait!!
i hope you all have a lovely weekend! do something for self care, and treat yo self...you deserve it.

Glad your US went well! I find it so interesting that you develop a number of follicles on letrozole. I only ever developed 1 for my IUIs. Stims though... Well clearly I develop a boatload 😆 DH and I had briefly considered if we should ask to do our last IUI with injectables for more chances. Man that would have been so unneccessary considering I was on such a light dose for this ER.
@knockupthestock glad the 3D US showed that everything looks good! Hope everything continues to look good for you!

That's very true. Also great you can sort of plan and time for what's right for you also!
@knockupthestock -- so glad the US went well and they've finally ruled it out so you can put that out of your mind now. DH and I were married at 30 also, we'd met 1 1/2yrs before being engaged.
Happy Saturday everyone!
Thinking of you today @chiblackhawkie and @littleredm!
*TW* Happy Father's Day to all of y'all's husbands and partners! Today has been really hard for me....mother's day wasn't as bad for some reason, maybe because we had just started IF treatments. But today there has been lots of crying haha. My husband and I teach/watch the 18 month olds to three year olds in our church while their parents are in Sunday school. Seeing DH playing with the kids and teaching them and helping them just made my heart so full but so sad at the same time. I want so badly to be able to make him a father and the share in that with him. All I could say as I was sobbing was "I'm sorry I can't give you that". Sigh. He's so sweet and supportive though, and just kept telling me how its not my fault and he loves me no matter what. But it's so hard because it's something I want so bad! It's okay though. It will happen eventually....we hope.*end TW*
Have a lovely Sunday, ladies! Thanks for your support and help. ❤️

Second TTGP: started meds for first cycle of tx on 10/13/21
DH and I splurged and bought ourselves a tub of the good ice cream and sugar cones while doing our grocery shop today. And I snuck in a nap on the couch with the sun steaming in the window. 2 feel good things to perk me back up. Hope you found something good to do for you and your hubs today too!
