Re: Plus Size Mom Check-in w/o 6/11

  • What is your estimated due date and how far along are you? Jan 24, 2020/ 7wks 4days

How are you feeling? What are your symptoms? Any anxiety? Exhausted, sore boobs and now nausea

How are you doing with activity and nutrition? Been walking everyday and hitting 10,000 steps, or at least close to it. Trying to eat a lot of fruits and vegetables but craving pizza and hot dogs, like all the time

What are your questions, comments, and/or concerns? Just trying to get past the first trimester. I am paranoid that something is going to go wrong because I'm so "high risk" thanks to my weight and also age (now 36) and because my first doctor scared the crap out of me. 😩 But trying to stay positive and just be happy for each day that I'm still pregnant. So far everything seems to be going well.

@kbrown2385 I can take over these posts. I did it the first week but it didn't get much response so I stopped, but I can pick it up again and maybe it will do better as more people join the board.

  • @peppyj9 I haven’t been very consistent with it. If it doesn’t get much traction we can either change it to a monthly check in if you want or ditch it all together. Up to you! Thanks for taking it over!
  • What is your estimated due date and how far along are you? Edd is 1/22/20 7w6d

How are you feeling? What are your symptoms? Any anxiety? Most of my symptoms are on and off. Sore boobs has been pretty consistent but I’ve had some nausea, dizziness and a new one yesterday had been some pinching in my uterus. Really, I’m just happy to be feeling anything right now. Follow up viability scan is tomorrow and my anxiety is increasing again. I’ve been feeling good mentally for the past week, but the thought of not getting good news is still there.

How are you doing with activity and nutrition? Ive been terrible on both. I’m so tired but really need to get back to taking our evening walks. Fruits and veggies are not agreeing with me so that’s been tough trying to be healthy. I haven’t been able to eat my yogurt fruit and granola for breakfast for the past week or so. Carbs are yummy and the only thing I’ve been wanting, of course.

What are your questions, comments, and/or concerns? Nothing right now. Just hoping to get through tomorrow.

  • What is your estimated due date and how far along are you?: January 29 / 6+6

How are you feeling? What are your symptoms? Any anxiety?: Random nausea and aversion to food (any food). Randomly sore boobs. Tiredness. Heaps of anxiety about nothing specific- just the whole thing.

How are you doing with activity and nutrition?: I’ve been eating what feels okay and it varies- most raw fruits and veggies are a no go. I have eaten bananas and apples and they’re okay. Many carbs are a no, too. I have been wanting cheese and orange juice. I’ve been managing some yoga every day and I want to start getting out for walks, too but haven’t managed it yet.

What are your questions, comments, and/or concerns?: None right now. I’m trying very hard to be present and not live in the future, as that causes my anxiety to spike. With all this talk of weight I’m wondering what the OB will say when I meet them. My GP never said anything concerning my weight. I’m a smaller fat but following the honestly obsolete BMI I’m considered obese. They’d better not freak me out any more than I already am. 😒

  • @daydreaminghufflepuff honestly, my US tech and intake nurse have been so positive! I meet my OB and midwife in a few weeks and I'm expecting the same. I think you'll be just fine! To be clear, I am considered "morbidly obese" (I hate saying that because it sounds so crude) so I'm not just fluffy, but I'm otherwise very healthy and active. My primary care doctor who confirmed the pregnancy was just unnecessarily rude and pessimistic. She was my new primary who I had only met once before and she does not know my history. So I really don't think you'll have the same experience.
  • @peppyj9 Glad to hear your experience hasn’t been all negative. Hope your OB appointment goes smoothly.
  • What is your estimated due date and how far along are you?  EDD: Jan 24 --  7 weeks 4 days

How are you feeling? What are your symptoms? Any anxiety?  Really tired,  sore boobs, and some light nausea

How are you doing with activity and nutrition?  Both could be better,  Really want to walk more, but have been so tired after work I've been crashing.  Hoping once school is done, I will focus more on exercising.

What are your questions, comments, and/or concerns?  I was slightly overweight during my first pregnancy ( over 4 years ago) , and after gaining 50 lbs I'm now considered obese.  I'm feeling guilty about how much that might affect me and the baby this time around.

  • What is your estimated due date and how far along are you? 1/3/19, 10W4D

How are you feeling? What are your symptoms? Any anxiety? Feeling ok, still have lots of nausea, sore boobs, etc.    My energy has increased the last few days so I’m hoping I’m on the upswing if symptoms inching closer to 2nd trimester

How are you doing with activity and nutrition?

Nutrition has improved from pre-pregnancy diet because nothing sounds good.    The only thing I’ve been eating regularly are fresh fruits and green beans.    I hope to really keep diet in check during this pregnancy.    Activity definitely  needs work, I’ve been trying to walk a few laps around the hospital or parking lot at lunch, I need to work on getting up more during the day and walking at night with the family.

What are your questions, comments, and/or concerns?  None so far

How are you feeling? What are your symptoms? Any anxiety?
Plenty of anxiety, but I did have an ultrasound last week that eased a lot of that anxiety. My symptoms have eased a bit. I was having major fatigue, where by 9pm I was falling asleep, but now it doesn't seem quite so bad. A bit of nausea here and there.

How are you doing with activity and nutrition?
I intended on keeping up with running, but I have been feeling tired and dizzy, so it has mostly been walking 3-4 times a week.

What are your questions, comments, and/or concerns?
I have PCOS and despite my efforts, weight has always been a struggle for me. My pre-pregnancy BMI put me ever so slightly in the obesity category.

Now, my doctor is telling me my anatomy scan will be with a mfm specialist because of being obese. Anyone else experience this? The mfm specialist is the same one I saw when I was pregnant with twins, so I am familiar with them and don't mind too much. I will say I was surprised though! She also mentioned monitoring me closer for gestational diabetes, which makes sense, I suppose, although I didn't have it with my other pregnancies.

I honestly didn't even realize my weight and height would have caused me to have any different course of care. Kind of frustrated because I consider myself to be fit, eat fairly healthy, drink only water, exercise 3-4x per week, etc.

  • @manders9479 I'm in the same boat. I didn't even realize I was considered obese, until my doctor's visit last week. I never lost the weight I gained from my twin pregnancy a few years ago. I feel a lot of guilt as well that I didn't lose more before becoming pregnant again. Just another thing for us to worry about during an already stressful time.  :'(

  • @Jellybeanqueen13 Yes! Exact same feelings.  I’m trying to focus on what I can do now to be healthy and let that guilt go.  My doctor also mentioned to me about testing earlier for diabetes, I didn’t have it with my first pregnancy either.
