  • Is someone available to post this next week? I will be offline for a Jewish Holiday no one has ever heard of.
How far along are you? How big is baby? 28 weeks
How old is/are you other kid(s)? 3 and 19 months
Nails and fails from this week: the week was to busy for me to remember I'm sure there were plenty of both
Rant/Rave/Dear Diary: leaving for faux babymoon tomorrow. First time I'm leaving the boys except the 2 nights I spent in the hospital when DS#2 was born. Doesn't feel real. Really nervous, really excited.
GTKY: What car do you drive? What car does YH drive? Has that/will that change because of your growing family? I drive a Nissan cube, DH drives a Toyota hybrid Highlander. We got DH's car when we were TTC DS#2, the fact we were growing our family was a consideration of getting a bigger cat, but not the only one.

Nails and fails from this week:
Nail - finished work.  Now on summer holidays,  cleaned the house (long overdue) to get ready for travel on Monday. DS decided it's OK to poop on the potty out of nowhere and he did it 3x this week!
Fail - idk :o it was a pretty good week!

Rant/Rave/Dear Diary: went out on a "date" (friends wedding) for the first time since October and DS puked for our friends who were baby sitting last night abs he's his normal chipper self this morning.  Who knows.  I felt bad that he threw up for them though :# he was calm and relaxed when we came back,  so thankfully he was with people he's very comfortable with and wasn't freaking out that we weren't there when he woke up puking.

GTKY: What car do you drive? What car does YH drive? Has that/will that change because of your growing family? We live in a city with a great transit system,  so we just take public transit. No car for us.

How old is/are you other kid(s)? 10yr old boy and almost 2 yr old boy

Nails and fails from this week: went for my first infusion, was really hoping I would feel some change but I don’t. Now I’m hoping the second one this Friday will make a difference!

    Rant/Rave/Dear Diary:
anyone else dreaming of having their baby yet? The other night I dreamt he came on August 23rd, last night I dreamt I had him on August 25th and it was such a weird situation like I had to deliver him myself because the dr was busy with someone else and MH was asking if he could go to our neighbors for a hot dog lol

GTKY: What car do you drive? What car does YH drive? Has that/will that change because of your growing family?
when we decided on a 3rd I got a Nissan Pathfinder for the 3rd row but I kinda wish I went with a minivan. It’s a big car suv but not ideal for little people. MH has a Range Rover, the kids love it for the DVD players.
  • How far along are you? How big is baby? 28w1d.
    How old is/are you other kid(s)? DD6 DS3
Nails and fails from this week: nail-cooked more than usual. Fail-still not cleaning much at all.
Rant/Rave/Dear Diary:DD is having some somewhat scary health problems and I have more appts than usual due to GD, very low iron, a large baby and just being in 3rd tri. Add into it the end of school year chaos and this means I am asking FIL for more help than usual. MIL has made it clear that this is inconvenient for her (who NEVER watches my kids) because SIL is moving in a couple weeks. Yeah sorry that our medical complications are interferring with princess SIL. I am sure I have vented about it before but they have literally never put my family, including DH, ahead of SIL's family. I am sick of it.
GTKY: What car do you drive? What car does YH drive? Has that/will that change because of your growing family? I drive a Chevy Traverse and DH drives a Ford Explorer. In terms of space and function I love my car but the repairs have been ridiculous. We are keeping both of our vehicles though

Nails and fails from this week:
Not exactly this week, but I suck at checking in on check boards...

    Rant/Rave/Dear Diary:
It’s almost summer for the boys, which means vacation is on the horizon and no more homework/tests/remembering life for my 13 year old!

Also just ready for this baby to be here... *wake me up when July ends*.

GTKY: What car do you drive? What car does YH drive? Has that/will that change because of your growing family?
We both have mid-sized SUVs, but DH will likely be trading his in for a minivan within the next year. I’m trying to hold out on a car payment for as long as possible.
  • @BigBadWolf12 @mia8263 @thirdtimesacharm2019 thank you all for volunteering, I guess whoever gets to it first, can put it, bonus they get to pick the GTKY. It typically goes up on Saturday, but it can be later, I don't know that anyone is waiting for it. If they are, they can post it.
    Thanks!!

Nails and fails from this week:
This week seemed like a lot of fails 🤦🏻‍♀️
The worst fail: we went out for ice cream Friday night. DH was watching DD while I finished up. DD started running around, on concrete, in sandals (and right next to a busy street). It’s the kind of thing I would put a stop to ASAP, and also why DH always tells me I’m “no fun.” Well, DD face-planted into the concrete. Now she has a skinned knee, nose, and upper lip. *sigh* Guess I should be happy she didn’t run out into the street, or crack a tooth in the fall.
Nail - the nursery is now painted, so i went ahead and ordered one more crib, a mattress, and associated bedding.

    Rant/Rave/Dear Diary:
I’d really like a pedicure and a pre-natal massage, but I have this SAHM guilt (I don’t make an income so I don’t deserve to spend money on frivolous things) plus the “we’re going to have to pay for three kids soon” guilt. So I’m sitting here with my calloused feet having a pity party for myself.

GTKY: What car do you drive? What car does YH drive? Has that/will that change because of your growing family?
I’ve got a Honda Odyssey (am I really the first minivan mom to post!??) and DH has a Lexus SC430 that fits exactly zero car seats (🤦🏻‍♀️) so we’re going to need to upgrade him soon (probably to a Toyota Highlander, or something similar) but we’re dreading figuring out a second car payment.

@mrosek91 - can you enlighten us about this Jewish holiday we’ve never heard of (what it’s called and why you celebrate)? I always enjoy learning about different religious / cultural holidays, and I try not to be an ignorant buffoon when I can help it 😜

How old is/are you other kid(s)?  Son, 16mo

Nails and fails from this week: My husband and his brother are currently taking down free fencing I found us on Facebook! Yay!! So we’ll hopefully have a fence at our house soon.

Rant/Rave/Dear Diary: Eye teeth, that’s all I’m going to say haha

GTKY: What car do you drive? What car does YH drive? Has that/will that change because of your growing family? I have an SUV that we’ll keep and my husband has a car that he’ll keep. Eventually we’d like something with 3rd row seating for me, but we also don’t want to pay for a different car. So it is what it is for awhile.
  • Is someone available to post this next week? I will be offline for a Jewish Holiday no one has ever heard of. - The baby and DD2 are going to be going to the Jewish preschool and just on our first visit we learned about a new holiday I had not heard of despite going to a predominately Jewish college. Not really a point to this story, just sharing :)

How far along are you? How big is baby? 28w + 2 d.  Bump says eggplant, but Bump also said "Your baby weighs between 1.5 and 2.5 pounds" and we already know that Charlie is bigger than that already, so awesome.

    How old is/are you other kid(s)? 5 and 2

Nails and fails from this week: Lots and lots of pool time, except I let myself get a little dehydrated on Saturday.  It left me feeling really run down, so I have to be more mindful that.

Rant/Rave/Dear Diary: Finally narrowing down our list of things to buy.... we are embarrassingly low on baby clothes given this is our third go-round.

GTKY: What car do you drive? What car does YH drive? Has that/will that change because of your growing family?: We are in the process of switching cars around.  DH is going to take "my" car, a MDX, and I'm going to drive the "new" (buying used) car, which right now is probably going to be a Buick Enclave. I really want quad seats (or captain seats, whatever you want to call them) and that coupled with a few other things we want seems to be the best match.  Now to find said car....

GTKY: What car do you drive? What car does YH drive? Has that/will that change because of your growing family?  Before I had a Kia Soul - I switched to a Kia Sorento to just have so much more room.  Husband has an F350.  If we go anywhere we take my car.

Nails and fails from this week:
Nails: went out to lunch with some friends at a Mexican restaurant, stuck to my GD diet, and it paid off. It's been hard but seeing my blood sugar numbers getting lower is rewarding.
Fail: On the way to my parents to drop off DD for the weekend, she puked all over herself.

    Rant/Rave/Dear Diary:

GTKY: What car do you drive? What car does YH drive? Has that/will that change because of your growing family?
I have a CRV and DH has a truck. I want to get a minivan eventually, but that can wait. We just pack my car as efficiently as possible. My years of playing Tetrs have finally paid off!😆
  • @thirdtimesacharm2019 I feel you on ready for baby to be here. I'm getting antsy and just want it to be time. I don't feel like spending the next 3 months at work finishing things up

How far along are you? How big is baby? 28w5d eggplant

How old is/are you other kid(s)? DD is 4

Nails and fails from this week: I cooked a decent amount this week, and we went to the zoo and I felt pretty good

Rant/Rave/Dear Diary: I feel like I've been yelling at DD so much lately. She's not nearly as independent as she should be and with LO coming so soon, I'm starting to freak out and trying to teach DD all of the independence that I've been too slack on until now. This is my fault and I feel bad.

GTKY: What car do you drive? What car does YH drive? Has that/will that change because of your growing family? DH works from home so we only have one car - a RAV4, I love it. Once I go back to school in 2020 we'll probably get a second car, either another RAV4 or a Subaru probably.

  • How far along are you? How big is baby? 29 weeks, measuring about 2 weeks ahead. The baby is big enough that I can feel him kick my cervix and punch my lunch at the same time (he's breach).

    How old is/are you other kid(s)? 2.5 and 5.

Nails and fails from this week: Nails: we had DD1's birthday party on saturday and in the end it turned out fine. She got a little boo boo on her elbow when she ran in front of someone swinging, but I always consider it a victory when the only kid who gets hurt at my house is my kid! Fails: not my fault, but about an hour before the party, we had a swarm of bees come to the pool and decide to stay. we were trying everything to get them to go away in time, but there were still a lot of bees while the kids were swimming. They didnt seem to care much, and we had 3 adults on bee watch duty. Another fail, also not my fault, was about 15 minutes before the first kid arrived, we had a microburst come through and snapped 4 of the metal poles of the pool fence right at the ground level and an umbrella post embedded in cement. We found a way to rearrange the fence so the broken portion was out of the way by switching it with a good section, but I was nervous the whole time that a kid who shouldnt get into the pool would find the broken area and get through. Luckily nothing happened but geez. It was a stressful hour leading up the party. But again, it all worked out.

Rant/Rave/Dear Diary: Now I get to add dealing with the pool fence company to my list. DH sent the initial email to them but itll likely fall onto me to stay home when they come down, if they agree it is covered under warranty, or to argue with them about the warranty (this is the 2nd time it has happened), or to figure out how much a replacement will cost and the budget/install for that.
I also just have a really busy few weeks (who am I kidding, it never ends!) since DD1's dance classes start back up today and she has swim twice a week. Then add doctor appointments on top of that for myself and DD2 and the next two weeks are crazy. Then, DH is on business travel for the next 2 weeks. So June looks ugly and busy and I'm stressed out just thinking about it all.

GTKY: What car do you drive? Volvo XC-90 when I need to move kids / my main vehicle. Nissan Frontier when I need to move junk and only one or two kids. What car does YH drive? Pacifica minivan (aka the ManVan).  Has that/will that change because of your growing family? We bought the minivan about 18 months ago knowing we were going to start trying for a third kid, so that already changed. Prior to that, he drove a little car. At some point, we will probably have to update my Volvo to a minivan as well because the third row seats in the volvo are tiny AND impossible to get to to buckle a kid in. We just started the process of teaching DD1 how to buckle herself in to a high back booster (as in yesterday we switched the seat from the 5 point configuration to the seatbelt configuration). She was able to unbuckle herself, but couldnt reach to actually buckle. I think we can make it work in the minivan, but the Volvo will be a lot harder. And she's going to be in a high back booster until she's married (kidding). She just turned 5 and weighs 36 pounds. We would have kept her in a 5 point if we didnt have to move her to the back seat, but she isnt able to pull the 5 point tight enough on her own or unbuckle herself at all. So we have a few weeks to train her in this booster before moving the seat to the third row.

Wow sorry that was way longer it asked for.

    DD1 5/23/14, DD2 12/5/16   Baby #3 on the way!

  • @allycat11 I hate when favoritism happens, but really hate when it is so obvious and not even an attempt is made to cover it up. We are in the same boat with MIL even though we allow her to see our kids far more than BIL does. But she's always changing things on us to accommodate them and always talks about their kids like they walk on water. I really hate how she compares my kids to theirs in terms of how smart they are compared to mine (they are also 3-6 years OLDER than mine) and how many activities they do compared to mine (hello, 2 year olds dont do piano lessons or organized sports). Its a major reason why I dont like spending time with her or even thinking about her...and Im not sure she has ANY IDEA that she even does it.

Also, add me to the list of ready for the baby to get here and dreaming of it, in the rare moments that i sleep long enough to dream!
    DD1 5/23/14, DD2 12/5/16   Baby #3 on the way!

  • @sourlemon ugh, sorry you deal with IL favoritism too. I usually avoid MIL but it has been harder lately. On the 18th DD has an urgent follow up MRI on her brain and spine, I literally can not take DS with me. ILs are "helping" SIL's family move from the 13-17 and MIL told me we need to reschedule her MRI because she cant guarantee they will be back. First, it does not take that long to move...or hire movers. Second, FIL is in his late 60s, horribly out of shape and has numerous health problems, he should not be doing heavy lifting. Third, MIL is a useless wench who never lifts a finger so she wont be any help at all. Fourth, SIL's kids are 10-15 so they don't need to be watched and IMO should be responsible for helping move things.

Also, I hate when they compare milestones. Again big age difference here. When DD would not potty train MIL loved making snide remarks about how SIL would have had it done by then. Now DS is 3 and not ready, his doctor said not to push it, and I am sure MIL has thoughts. Both of my kids have had speech delays that she gives me crap for. She makes a big deal about how she still cant understand DD, tough crap lady we had her speech evaluated again last year and her vocabulary and articulation were 3 years ahead now. However she never makes comments about SILs kids lacking indepence and responsibility. When nephew was 11 or 12 I was at his house and he was complaining he was going to be late for shool while waiting for his mom to make him an eggo waffle...someething my 3 year old has been capable of for months.   Sorry for the tagent I am just soooo over it.

  • @sourlemon exactly!  We were originally scheduled for late July but there is concern of her having a build up of cerebrospinal fluid so her medical team wants it done asap. And MIL shows zero concern for the actual health problems.

  • @peachy0709 there are so many of them that I feel like most people haven't heard of most of them. There is even a month in the Jewish calendar that is known as being the only month without a significant day (either a holiday or a day of mourning.)
@aecm You should not feel mom guilt, IMO being a SAHM is harder than a full time job, you don't gets nights and weekends off. I really admire anyone who can do it, I think I would go crazy. You are also growing 2 human beings, you deserve to pamper yourself every now and then. To answer your question it's called Shavout. After we left Egypt we traveled for 49 days to reach Mount Sinai, where G-d gave us the Torah. SO every year we count 49 days after the first day of Passover, and then celebrate that we were given the Torah.

  • @Allycat11 wtf your MIL sucks. I’m so sorry you have to deal with that.

  • @EmilyA724 when DD2 was born, she "gave" DD1 a doc mcstuffins doll thing when we got home.
This time, we bought new leap pads for each of the kids that they will get "from the baby" when we get home. (DD1 already has an older leap pad that the two fight over, and I was concerned if we only got one new one, the fighting over it would be just as bad. That is why we got 2 new ones.)

When my brother was born, I was 5 and my older brother was 6, my parents got us a super nintendo. My mom says that was the best decision she ever made because it kept us busy for hours. I still remember the day we got it. So this time, instead of a toy to give the kids, I figured we'd do something that would keep them busy and somewhat independent. DD1 is 5 and DD2 is 2.5, but both of them know how to use the old leap pad, so there should be a small learning curve.
