My husband and I were going to start TTC this month, but due to a work training we he had to go we missed the time frame. At least that’s what I believe. So after the fact we’ve been carrying on pretty normally, I’ve had wine several times this week at a few events we went to and today I had four drinks (over the course of the entire day) when we were at a Memorial Day get together.
However, I then had this horrible realization of “wait but what if you are pregnant” and started googling and now I don’t feel so sure because I read apparently having sex two days before you ovulate means there’s a fair chance you can still get pregnant!
Its too early to take a test and obviously now I’m going to avoid alcohol all together until I get my period (or don’t) but I’m FREAKING out!
I’m so scared if I am the baby will have FAS and have deformities it cognitive issues! I have only been pregnant once before in December, which resulted in an early miscarriage at 6 weeks so I’m extra worried after going through that
@birdiebaby4 You are fine. There is a popular phrase when trying to conceive: “Drink till it’s pink”, meaning you can have alcohol until you see a pink positive line on a test. You shouldn’t go overboard—but you can have some alcohol without doing harm, is the theory.
Now, before you get a million responses that tell you to go read the rules before posting, you should go read the very first post at the top of the TTGP called “NEWBIES, READ THIS FIRST”. It will break down all the rules so you know that you should post this in the Questions thread instead of starting your own. You can’t delete posts but you can edit your original to say “Deleted” or something. Good luck!
My psychology teacher taught us that you have a 10 day window from conception because it hasn't implanted, therefore if you binge drink the night you have sex and get pregnant you're fine - THERE'S NO RISK

I don’t think the baby even starts getting nutrients from you until they’re like 6 weeks old- I think you’ll be fine (assuming you got KU your first month trying). Pretty sure they won’t have FAS unless you drink heavily throughout your entire pregnancy, not from 4 drinks over the course of a day before they’ve even implanted..

Thank you very much! I did some research on that saying (never came across it before) and found a lot supporting that, it’s crazy how split the information is! Thank you for being kind and helpful in your response!
I’m not sure what a QFP is or what exactly that comment was supposed to mean or how it was helpful. I’m normally not a message board person and I’m pretty clueless and scared in the getting pregnant department.
@birdiebaby4 you should do some research (taking charge of your fertility) is highly recommended by quite a few of us (I just ordered my own finally) because TTGP is difficult for a lot of people and theirs so much info.
@birdebaby4 ok, to clarify this was my COLLEGE Abnormal Psychology professor during a lesson in which we specifically talked about Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and used HER OWN PERSONAL STORY. She binge drank the night they conceive and her baby is perfectly normal.
Could people stop using us for their personal Google? Sheesh.

I would just personally like to make a statement about TTC and drinking that I have observed.
My crackhead cousin who drinks continuously got PG and had a baby years ago. Yes, baby was born with issues and addicted and all that jazz. But relatively healthy. Myself on the other hand abstained from all alcohol while in TWW and exercised and lost weight and tried to have the 'healthiest temple' for my baby ever. I've had 5 MC. So... yeah... OP I'm pretty sure you're ok after one binge drink. But if you're seriously TTC, you need to read TCOYF, buy a BBT, and become informed about your body and this process!!!!
Okay again to the snarky commenters, I have PhD in psychology and work as a licensed psychologist and yes I have no problems admitting I am conflicted after reading research online and after speaking with doctors. I can also very confidentially tell you to not take advice on pregnancy from someone in my field because we’re not trained in it at all (clearly).
I can say it’s makes me wonder what’s going on in your own lives to be so vicious and critical to people you don’t know online when you could just keep scrolling along but... 🙄💁🏼♀️
It looks like when you posted here last month, someone kindly responded with how this board works. It seems as though you ignored that advice, and you're using internet strangers as Google. I would, once again, encourage you to read the pinned posts at the top of this board to learn how it works, introduce yourself, and participate in the threads here, and maybe you'll get more a more welcoming response, and probably wouldn't have to ask this question at all.

What’s “going on in our own lives” is that we’re all here trying to get pregnant, like you- some of us have been for years. It’s frustrating when someone we don’t know comes in and makes a random post- which isn’t technically allowed as per the rules/guidelines of this board- and expects us to just be your personal google.
This is is a great community and if you decide to stick around, just do it the right way (introducing yourself, etc) and we can all move on.
Btw we aren’t “trained” in this field either. Like I said, many of us on here have been trying for many many months or years and have learned things / picked up advice from the lovely ladies of TTGP as we’ve gone along.
