3TM+. Labor comparisons

in comparison to your first labor &delivery, how did your second go? Were you over/ early with both, induced, length of labor, etc?

Due july 4 but feeling so much larger this time than last and hoping I go a few days earlier than last time(naturally one day before due date) ... 4 hours active labor first time

  • @nopegoat I hope you are close to where you plan to deliver!! Lol
  • My first came on his own at 39W+4. Contractions started at 2am. Arrived at the hospital at 4am, officially admitted at 6am, was 3cm. Progressed right along, he was born at 6:22pm

My second was induced at 37W+2 due to high fluid levels. Broke my water to get things going and he was born 2 hours later.

  • @nagrom9319 I'm 45mins+ depending on traffic. I'm terrified I won't make it. We actually chose my OB based on the hospital she delivered at and they just moved to a further location. 😭😭

#1 induced at 40wk, 8 hours pitocin labor

    #2 spontaneous at 37wk, 4 hours labor

#3 water broke without labor starting at 39wk. Labor only lasted an hour once things started but it took ~6  hours of pitocin to "start."
  • @nopegoat oh no! I hope you have a contingency plan 😯 you better fly to the hospital at the first hint of even a cramp! Lol

#1 36+6 went to the hospital with contractions in the late afternoon. They admitted me and labor stalled by morning. Choice to either go home or break my water & start pitocin because I was already 5 or 6 cm. Chose to stay, he was born around 5pm. I pushed through 5 or 6 contractions before he was delivered.

#2 38+5, went to the hospital in the evening with regular contractions. Started pitocin around 8am the next morning, she was born at 10am. DD came so fast once I was 10cm. The nurses were begging me to not push because she was basically out and the team needed wasn't there yet. Pushed through 1 contraction.

Because #2 came so fast, they warned me to not sit around and labor at home with this one.

#1 - 38w 4d: My water broke spontaneously at home (I had no pain prior, was just tired and was having irregular BH). Within the hour, I could barely stand or walk, got to the hospital almost fully dilated. #1 was born just under 5 hours after my water broke.

#2 - 38w 1d: Had a membrane sweep at my weekly Midwife appointment. Walked our 65lb dog around the block when I got home and that was enough to trigger labor contractions. Went to the hospital, was checked in and got a delivery room. They broke my water a couple of hours later, and #2 was born under 2 hours later. From regular contractions to delivery was just under 5 hours. I also didn't have any pain from contractions until after my water broke.

If my water breaks or contractions start, I've been told to go directly to the hospital and call on the way. I am definitely worried about making it  to the hospital, especially if my water breaks out of nowhere again. In rush hour the drive can be up to 45 minutes from our house.
  • #1 39w6d spontaneous - 7 hours labor, started pretty easy, more intense last 2 hours

#2 38w6d membranes stripped due to being dilated to a 5. She was here 2 hours later with one push.

#3 38w OB broke water due to spike in BP (was dilated to 3), she was here 5 hours later.
  • #1 Labored off and on throughout the day, but contractions came 5 min apart right after DH got home. Got to birth care and started pushing 2 hours later. Ended up pushing a total of 5.5 hours, including 45 min ambulance ride😫 She was delivered with vacuum, completely unmedicated. 6 days early.

#2 Didn't recognize labor right away because I was getting so many BH. Again went to birth center, started pushing an hour later. Pushed for 3.5 hours also including ambulance ride. Delivered via emergency c-section. 5 days early.

Trying for a vbac this time, but going to a hospital!! Not sure what to expect because my labors are fast, but pushing hasn't gone so well😢 We will see what happens!
  • #1 39+2 went to the hospital with regular contractions and labored for 26 hours and ended up with a cs

#2 40+2 scheduled cs since I went past my due date with no signs of labor

this one will be a rcs a week before my due date

  • Slightly different situation for me but I was induced at 36+6 with my previous two (and will be this time as well)
1st - took 44 hours from admission to delivery
2nd - took 25 hours from admission to delivery
I definitely think your body knows more what to do after your first! We'll see how it goes this time around...
  • 1- contractions started on his due date. Labored for 8 hours at home and got to the hospital was 8 cm and had him 4 hours later with just a few pushes. 40w 1d

2- 40w 3d labored for 2 hours at home it got intense really fast, got to the hospital and was 7 cm dilated and had him 6 hours later with just a few pushes.
  • #1 Contractions at home off and on during 2 nights (no sleep), checked in and started pitocin at 7am to get things going, 10cm by 3pm, pushed from 6-7:30 with no progress, c-section at 9pm

#2 Water broke in the evening 2 days before scheduled C. Checked into hospital for a.m. surgery, contractions got crazy around 3am, so they bumped everything up and we met her early

#3 (July 19 baby) Sceduled C again, but we’ll see what happens!
